Crackers 2010

Its not me that's crackers in 2010, although some most would beg to differ LOL ... but the Christmas Cracker's I've made for this year festivities.  These particular ones are destined for Holland and obviously are not mine, but mine will be the same.  The only difference is mine wont have a box!

To make the crackers I followed the fab tutorial that Kirstie Allsop did for Channel 4 last year (Kirsties Homemade Christmas)
1 Roll of Wrapping Paper brought from Poundland in the sale last year
8 Empty Toilet Rolls
6 metres of Black Organza Ribbon
12 small Jingle Bells
Scraps of Red CS to strengthen the ends
Cracker Snaps .... although I haven't added them this year as I forgot to buy them ... oops!

This is what I put inside them ...
Handmade tissue paper hat using scraps of tissue paper measuring 30cms x 9cms and folding into 4 and cutting the end to a point.
Christmas Cracker joke printed from the internet
1 handmade Peppermint Cream wrapped in tinfoil.

Christmas Crackers and A Card

Right as promised earlier here are this years Christmas Crackers ........

Not very good quality photo I know, the camera must be playing up again pmsl! I've made 10 of these, I know there's only 5 in the photo but they're not mine so they're not complete (still have one end left open for VBF Vicki to put her bits and bobs in). I followed this tutorial which gave me the exact dimensions to cut the wrapping paper .... a job I left Andy doing last night whilst I went to an Ann Summers Party! So, I used empty toilet rolls that I sterilised in the microwave (about 5 secs on high power ... tip from Fae when she worked at a previous nursery, before they said that loo rolls etc weren't allowed to be used in construction play!), wrapping paper on a roll, curling ribbon, red holographic card and scraps of cream and red card and my good old faithful glue gun. The photo actually doesn't do them justice, they look a lot better IRL.

On to the card ..... on Thursday when I collected Rylee from nursery my VBF Vicki was unhappy so once Rylee had gone home I set too making her a card full of hugs and some snowman soup minus the snowman lol! Which me being me forgot to photograph ...doh!

CS ~ stash, DP's ~ Summer Driggs, image ~ RAK from Diane, thanks honey! coloured with WM's and Sakura Glaze, swirly bits ~ Cuttlebug die, embossing ~ Cuttlebug swirl folder, flowers, beadcap, flower clip thingy and brad ~ stash, sentiment ~ Rubber Romance.

Going Crackers!

This weekend I decided to make my own Christmas crackers with the help of the online tutorial. I'm sick of paying out vast amounts of money just so we get something half decent inside. Dawn gave me the idea in the first place...thank you dawn!

I decided that I didn't want your traditional looking crackers so went for more of a shabby chic look. I didn't have a theme for my table so I was open to anything. Anyway, after having a good hunt around I found some fabby free digital papers by Kate Hadfield called "Just Minty Mocha". I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. Just to add a hint of Christmas I punch a snowflake out of white glitter card and added that to the name plate.

Each cracker has something useful and only cost me between £1-£2, bargain!
