These candles I've done for Carrie (my neice) and Dean (her hubby) for their birthday's next month. If you're a frequent visitor, you'll know I made birthday cards for them using the same images, if you're not a frequent visitor then, hey get with the programme lol! I printed the images out in the usual way and then buffed them up with a dry cloth once they were cooled (tip from Barbara, thanks honey), makes the image all shiny and sort of stands out a bit more, or that could be my imagination!
Oh ffs, just pressed the publish button before I've finished, see what happens when I get too excited!
So, all in all I'm feeling pretty special today and can't wait to play with my new goodies. Thank you so much girls, i really do appreciate your kindness.
Talking of playing ..... I had to play with a candle earlier... only cos I had an order to fulfil, no other reason honest!
This is for a friends granddaughter's first birthday. My parents sent her a candle for her 40th and she's now asked me to do 2 for her! Winnie the pooh image is from Disney clipart.
I was asked to decorate this candle for a friend's friend's birthday, if that makes sense. She collects anything with elephants on. The image was from the Joanna Sheen ~ Jayne Netley Mayhew Collection and looks fab on the candle.
Thats what I've been up to on my Rylee free morning. I've also taken an order for more candles this morning from my neice and her boss! Looks like everyone wants one, which is pretty lucky for me!
This card is made using one of Katharina's brilliant sketches ~ sketch #27.
CS ~ stash, DP ~ freebie download from here, spotty dp Pink Petticoat, image ~ one of my new Joanna Sheen stamps coloured with twinkling H2O's and watercoloured pencils, Fluffy Stuff on waves, sentiment stamp ~ RAK from Jo, string ~ Poundland, shell ~ Cleethorpes market yesterday (Parents went on a day trip so sent a text asking for shells).
Managed to do some sewing on this one and rather than humping my big sewing machine out I remembered that my Mum had bought a small one from Home Bargains for £9.99! It only does a straight stitch, but its like a dolls sewing machine. So I've borrowed her's which generally means she wont be getting it back lol!
Also went to Poundstretcher today and found that they sold candles for £1 each! So I bought 5, like you do ...... of course I rang my MOT up and told her ... not! And I'm sad to say I've made another candle but this one is to fulfill an order....!I'm sorry but I had to just try it with a photo printed on tissue paper, just to see if it worked ... and look it does!! I think this obsession is getting out of hand, but I had to do another one to show the mother-out-law (oops in-law) how it was done. She was really ****ed off when I showed her, but I just had too (innocent smile) lol and has now dashed off into town to buy candles and tissue paper to try it herself pmsl!
My parents came this afternoon while I was desperately trying to make DH's birthday card, to have a haircut. I was showing them my blog and they saw the candle I'd made for Suzie ... who adored it and has placed an order for her whole family and friends! Anyway, Mum loved it and thought it'd be a good idea for me to make one immediately for my niece Beth for her 18th birthday , which incidentally isn't until February 20th! Beth's nickname as a baby and little child was Betty Boo (her surname is Boocock, poor child!) and so her love of Betty Boo grew with her ... ok it was forced on her! Therefore, we chose a Betty Boop image off the net for the front of the candle. My parents were really impressed by the technique, I thought Mum was gonna wet herself she was that impressed lol! So thank you Dawny P for my new addiction!
Whilst blog hopping I found a tutorial for this technique on Dawny P's blog. You should check it out its so easy ....look even I did one lol! I used my paddling Tilda stamp (or whatever she's called lol not really up on all their names yet!) and coloured her with H2O's and watercolour pencils. The sentiment and verse I printed onto tissue paper by sticking it with double sided tape to a scrap piece of card to get it to go through the printer (although the printer nearly went through the window!) Tissue paper, cellophane and ribbon ~ stash.
