Chris Barber's Jazz Band - Ice Cream

Chris Barber.... Dixieland music..... Look at the videos of this most famous tune of Chris Barber (originally released 1954) and understand how much fun this kind of music was in them fifties and (early) sixties !
In my personal opinion so much more interesting than todays music....
Left : Chris Barber's Jazz Band - Ice Cream 1972
Right : Played in the old formation 1994.

I scream, you scream,
everybody wants ice cream.
Rock, oh rock my baby roll.

I scream, you scream,
everybody wants ice cream.
Rock, oh rock my baby roll.

And has he Olá and Pepsi-Cola,
then everybody is drinking Coca-Cola.

I scream, you scream,
everybody wants ice cream.
Rock, oh rock my baby roll.

Today 1930 Chris Barber was born

An advantage of being old can be the variety of music one collected. In them eighties I even collected for ten years just classical music..... By so I don't have anything pop from these years (apart from the well known 50/60/70's artists who still recorded) and I am not interested too. So no bubblegum music for me.
In the nineties I started buying my old fav's on cd and so adding/replacing bit by bit my vinyl collection.

Today is an interesting (historical) day.
Today 1940 British singer Billy Fury was born.
Today 1960 is also the day Eddie Cochran died.
Search for their music my Blog !
Two days ago I offered ya Cruisin' 1961 Arnie 'woo woo' Ginsberg and I pointed to the today's Wikipedia Bay of Pigs Invasion article which was on that sleeve.
And finally today in 1969 Czechoslovak Communist Party chairman Alexander Dubček & (here also) was deposed. I travelled so many times to Eastern Europe and in particular Czechoslovakia/Prague in those years....

Interesting of course, but I wanna go back even more into time, way back....
Donald Christopher 'Chris' Barber was born 1930_april_17 at Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England and is best known as a trombonist playing in his Tradional revivals with his Dixieland jazz band.
Who doesn't remember the hit Petite Fleur with Monty Sunshine on clarinet ?
How great was that Danish female singer Ottilie Patterson (who was at one time Mrs Barber). What a voice. When I am dead and gone their Precious Lord lead me on has to be played....!!!
