The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC106

This weeks colours over at
are...

Gray...Yellow...Pink

I'm really enjoying the colour challenges and fab inspiration over at The Play Date Cafe....
Anyway, here is my take on this challenge...
Not only, was I inspired by these wonderful colours..
..but also the little button badge with the 'fun' lemon quote, it made me think of the original one...
'When life gives you lemons...
Make lemonade'.
I sketched one of my faces in my journal
and used water colour pencils, promarkers and gesso.

Stamped the quote with Alpha stamps using a grey promarker.
...and the circles are stamped with (Holiday Baubles stamp by Hero Arts)  with Gesso and tinted with watercolour pencils.

The lemons are an image cut from a magazine and gesso'd to lighten them up and to make them blend in more with my pages.
Well life is giving me lemons at the moment!!...
...So off to make some lemonade !!! LOL
Thanks for stopping by

Wahoooo....& Spots, Dots and Circles....

Look what has arrived in the post all the way from Australia, to play with....

I was so chuffed to have won these two fabulous Crafty Individuals stamps for my Arch entries for the '2010 Gothic Arch Challenge' for having the  'favourite set of arches' chosen by the Inkurable Stamper herself , Sarah.
I really enjoyed the year long arch challenge throughout 2010. There was some amazing artwork created by all the other Arch 'players' and it was fun seeing all the different interpretations of each theme So, thank you again for organizing such a fab challenge Sarah.

...Couldn't wait to get all inky with my new stamps...so what better way to get some inspiration and to join in with the current challenge over at Inkurable Stampers  'Spots, dots and Circles' (Junes Theme)

I'm currently working on a mixed media journal, with inspirational and fun quotes....so I thought I'd incorporate one of my new Crafty Individual stamps (CI294) into my pages.

(click on pic for better view)

I drew my mermaid and coloured my pages with water soluble wax pastels, watercolour pencils, promarkers, gesso and acrylic paint
Used some bubble wrap with gigantic sized bubbles, to stamp the circles (bubbles) on to the background, then coloured them with some watercolour pencils.

I then stamped my Crafty Individual (CI294) randomly over my pages , (I chose this stamp because of its assorted circular shapes) I did this by, individually inking the images on the stamp with a whispers pen. I also used a papermania medallion stamp around the edge of my pages. Highlighted some of the stamping with white pen.
Distressed with more acrylic
Then added a quote....
Don't wait for your ship
to come in
swim to it.

Art, Heart and healing Week 1 - Journal

Week 1

over at
Art, Heart and Healing
(Free course- see my sidebar)
...is to create a self portrait journal page
healing exercise
drawing and shading your portrait
and background techniques
-oOo-
The first part of the exercise was to transform our inner critic messages
write them down those negative thoughts
focus on them
then gesso over them!!
-oOo-
The next step was to draw a self portrait
.....following Tam's fab step by step guide
learning new tips and techniques of drawing/painting faces
I was totally amazed with the results
here is my first attempt of a self portrait!!
Unfortunately I didn't have the water soluble crayons to complete the colouring in part of the exercise
....and being as one of my worst traits is being sooooo Impatient!!
I drew another portrait in an old journal
..and coloured it with an alternative medium
my trustworthy promarkers!!
....some rubber stamping
...and then I used some white acyrlic paint to distress it all.
and these are the results....

Wish my eyes were that blue!! LOL

....but I will still have another attempt at using the water soluble crayons on my original drawing when I get some.
-oOo-
Im really enjoying the course so far!
....and seeing everybody elses self portrait creations!
Can't wait to see what Tam has in store for us for next weeks lesson!
Thanks for Looking!
