....for challenge #34
 over at
it's all about creating a Shabby Project with
a repeated geometrical shape...
-oOo-
....So here is my DT take on this challenge..
I decided to scrap a page of one of my boys...

I started with some (webster pages) 12x12 paper
Then I stencilled with some paint (for my repeated geometrical shaped pattern) using a hexagon patterned mask.
to give me this background for my layout.
-oOo-
Then embellished with...
assorted lace, charms, flowers, wooden embellies, book paper...
...buttons, doilies, metal gate embellie, butterfly...
Oh and a photo of my cutie (when he was about 7 years old...taken 11 years ago!!...so he's a little bigger now LOL!!) and his little pal!
....owl charm, bird stamped tag, more wooden embellies (clock and butterfly).
-oOo-
...and this is my finished page....
For full deets on this challenge ...

Let's Get Shabby Challenge # 21

Challenge #21
 this month over at
is all about
'DENIM AND LACE'
..what a Fabby Combo
I 'm a denim gal, I live in Jeans!
So just had to join in with this one..
...both of these requirements need to feature in your project in some way
-oOo-
So here is my Layout for the challenge.
I decided to 'scrap' my Barney Boy in a project..
...complete with denim and lots of lovely lace.
-oOo-
I used some DENIM patches cut from some old jeans.
I also made this DENIM flower using my Tim Holtz  'tattered florals' die.
.
I have had these 'life's journey' buttons in my stash for a little while
and thought this was the perfect LO for them!

...and lots of lovely LACE
-oOo-
I can't believe that my rambunctious little pup will be One year old at the end of this month.
Barney is still a little handful !!
Still chewing EVERYTHING in sight !
We try to wear him out with long country walks
and some doggy agility, which he LOVES !!

...But, ME THINKS  I am the only one getting worn out, trying to keep up with him  LOL
-oOo-
Anyway, back to the Challenge

Playing with sketches....

I've got tons of photographs that I want to scrapbook, but I still find it a bit of a struggle to create on a larger scale of (12x12), I think I've been playing with inchies and altered matchboxes for far too long!! LOL
So when I visited
Kerry's  Blog....
(who is a talented scrapbooker, runs her own local craft club and is has it happens is also my Cousin :) )
...Kerry has started to have a go at making her own Layout sketches.

So, I thought I would dust off those photos that needed scrapping
and give it a go..
Here is Kerry's pagesketch#1
You also had one extra element this week is to add eyelets to your creation.
so here is my take on that sketch..
(the eyelets are in the top right and bottom left corners)

I decided to use some pics of a visit to
 in Dorset
We spent a lovely day there on Mothers Day in March 2009
....and hubby took some wonderful pics of the monkies
(that includes two of my sons!! LOL)
...and how cute is that monkey bead!
and this fab lil quilled monkey!!
Sadly I didn't make him myself, I bought it from Katie at KatiesKreations4U (etsy)
who sells some lovely kits, embellies and corner bouquets.
The beaded pin and quilled monkey came from this lil kit.
-oOo-
Anyway, if you fancy taking Kerry's sketches through their paces, hop over
Thank you Kerry for inspiring me!

Let's Get Shabby Challenge #19

Challenge#19 this month over at
is all about

ARCHITECTURE

You had to be inspired by the picture of this building.
First of all, I must admit I was totally stumped!!
Then inspiration struck after a recent visit to the Tower of London.
There's nothing like a trip to London to see some stunning architecture old and new!!
-oOo-
The battlements of The Tower of London reminded me of the detailing on the top of this ruin.
Also the arch shaped windows and the history influenced my Layout!

Here is my Layout...

I used a printed scrapbooking paper 'Tower of London' (Park Lane Paper)
which I have trimmed and distressed
and added to some brown 12x12 paper
This was my base for the shabby embellies and pics of a recent day out with family & friends
Ice skating at the Tower of London
(Over the festive season , they use the moat area of Tower of London as a temporary Ice Rink)
-oOo-
This was my first experience of Ice Skates!!
....and what an hilarious experience it was!!
We had a fantastic time...with no broken bones - RESULT!!
...Although we won't mention the bruises!! LOL
I now have some serious respect and admiration for the Celebrities taking part in the Dancing on Ice TV show
It sure isn't has easy as it Looks!!

I decided to use a selection of browns and creams to compliment the colours of the Architecture
printed my photo's in sepia tones
Handmade and bought flowers
Tower Bridge Die-cuts (distressed with inks)
embellies...ice skate, key, beads, lace etc..

...and being has it had pics of Ice skating, I sprinkled some 'Twinklets Diamond Dust' on some of the flowers and leaves.

.....Now, off too sneak my entry in before the deadline!!

Hop over to the Let's Get Shabby Blog
for some fabby shabby challenges and Inspiration!

Let's get Shabby - Challenge #11

It's all about Colour
In Australia at the moment it is Autumn
(and here in the UK it is Spring - a wet and cold one today!!)

is a Colour Challenge
....it is to look at this incredible Quilt

and be inspired
..and It would be nice to include some fabric somewhere

-oOo-

...So here is my take on the challenge:

I was inspired by the blues, browns, oranges and the touches of golden yellow in the Quilt.

...and a few weeks ago, I bought my first 12x12 scrapbook album

...with the intentions of sorting through my millions ( ok zillions!!) of photographs

so that I could scrap some pics of my 3 boys 'growing up' over the last 20 years!!

I thought this pic of two of my lads would be perfect for a shabby LO makeover

it was taken about 14 years ago, so they both are a little bit bigger now LOL!!

...both strapping 6 footers but still sooooo Cheeky!!

-oOo-

I've added some Hessian for the background and some ribbon roses for the fabric element of the challenge.

...Handmade flowers

..ribbon and lace

...fabby leaves and sweet mini pumpkin embellishments

...and of course buttons!

-oOo-
