Carry on Camping and My New Blog.....

This weeks theme over at..
is...
Camping.
-oOo-
I've done the whole camping thing,
as they say, done it, seen it, got the T-shirt!!!
...and have fond childhood  memories of family holidays in small tents , cooked breakfasts, fun and games!
...and Girl Guide camps (where it usually rained!)...
So... Now I prefer a little bit more luxury...as long as there is a comfy bed and an en-suite ..I'll be more than Happy!!
Although hubby is always trying to twist my arm to go on another camping trip  !
-oOo-
But saying that....
I've alway fancied owning a VW Campervan
..Dreams of disappearing at weekends for the freedom and nostalgia of a road/camping adventure ....
.....Oh and painted in the shade of aqua would be jolly lovely too!!
(on my wishlist for when I win the lottery ;)
-oOo-
I bought this bundle of wooden hearts for £2, and thought they would make a good tag base for some of the Tag Tuesday Challenges
So for this weeks 'Camping' themed tag...
I've painted my dream machine onto one of the wooden hearts..
Now, just gotta win the lottery LOL!!

'You can create anything you want, as long as it's based upon the "flavour" of the week.'
-oOo-
I had lots of fun taking part last year, challenging me with colours that were out of my colour comfort zones.
..and this year the colour challenges are inspired by ice-cream flavours :)
-oOo-
The first colour prompt has been set
by Kristin and it is....
Rainbow Sherbet!
and here is a little teaser of what I have been working on today ;)

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations...

Wow!
What a lovely weekend of Jubilee celebrations it has been...Shame about the rain...Although it wouldn't be a British Bank holiday without a little bit of the wet stuff ... would it?!
Still, with true British spirit we did not let it dampen our festive spirits.
-oOo-
...and aptly this weeks theme over at..
is...
Diamond Jubilee.
So here is my little royal offering...
I decorated my tag (back and front)
with...
Papermania (Portobello road) papers
..images of a young Queen and one of Her Majesty now.
..Paint
..Buttons
..Ribbon flower
..Alphabet stamps to stamp a few words from the National Anthem.
and some more bunting...using the free stamp on this months Craft stamper magazine.

Bunting and Flags

This weeks theme over at
is...
Bunting and Flags...
(Oh, I do LOVE a bit of Bunting!!)
-oOo-
Well I was supposed to be repurposing/painting an old shelf unit in the garden yesterday....but rain stopped play...( it was torrential here in my part of Essex!!)
-oOo-
So... inside I went, grabbed some fabric, lace, buttons, fabric clothing tag, crown charm, crochet flowers and a vintage baby image printed on to some fabric....

and hand-stitched up this little creation for this weeks Tag Tuesday theme...
I'm a little 'union jacked' out ....it's everywhere you look at the moment, with the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations....red, white and blue in every nook and cranny!!
So... I decided to change it up a little and went a little pink and aqua for my flag!

Something Old...Something New...Something Borrowed...Something Blue...

....for challenge #35
over at
it's all about creating a Shabby Project with this little saying in mind...
'Something old
Something new
Something borrowed
And something blue'
Its a very old fashioned 'checklist' for the bride.
-oOo-
....So here is my DT take on this challenge..
I decided to make a little fabric hanging...
My lovely blog friend Margaret gave me this lovely little cabinet card a while ago, So I thought this would be perfect for this challenge...

So I photocopied it onto some fabric...
and added it to some...
 fabric scraps
with a little stitching...
ribbon flowers...
metal charms and embellies...
assorted lace...
paint...
buttons...
suspender and bra clips!..
and some crochet
-oOo-
The requirement for this challenge was to include four elements....

Something Old...
Suspender clips & buttons...
. "Something old" symbolizes continuity with the bride's family and the past.
Something New....
Love, Faith and Hope Charm...
"Something new" - means optimism and hope for the bride's new life ahead
Something Borrowed...
I borrowed my mum's button Box, for these lovely buttons!!
. "Something borrowed"  - is usually an item from a happily married friend / family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride.
Something Blue...
Ribbon and button...
'Something Blue' - In ancient Rome brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Christianity has long dressed the Virgin Mary in blue, so purity was associated with the colour. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular colour for wedding gowns.

Your shabby project does not need to be about a wedding,...it can be any theme...as long as you include the four elements...
Anyway...For full deets on this  Challenge

Tag Tuesday - Found objects

This weeks theme over at
is...
Found Objects....
Southend - pic taken by Hubby
Last week, we took son #2 for his college interview over at Southend on sea. So while he was busy being quizzed about his Art and Design to get a place at the college, Hubby and I, took Barney Boy for a lovely long walk along the sea-front.
Barney enjoying the sea air!!
So, with this weeks tag theme in mind, I decided  to 'find' something on the beach...
So a few little shells came home with me that day.
Still not sure what to do with the shells....
...then inspiration struck, when I found something else ....a discarded clothing label on sons bedroom floor...from  a recent T-shirt purchase...
So, this is the result of my 'found' items...
a simple little tag...
..added a little paint, cheesecloth, old button, Tim Holtz embellies, jump rings and shells .
-oOo-
...and the Good news, son secured a college place!! woop woop! :)

Tag Tuesday - Sewing

This weeks theme over at
is...
Sewing

...Now this is one of my favourite themes... not a natural or great sew-er myself..often found having a major fights with my sewing machine!! agh!...
I still have a LOVE of all things related to sewing...perhaps it comes from my mum...who  made me matching long funky party dresses for me and my dollies (in the seventies!) and still is a dab hand on her machine now..and forever altering clothes.
So being a fave theme...I got a little carried away and made two tags this week!!
...and being such a favourite theme of mine...It will be even more enjoyable over at Tag Tuesday perusing all the other 'sewing' tags this week!
Thanks for peeking!
