The Quilt Show, starring ME.

The hosts of  The Quilt Show, Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims

I flew out to Denver, Colorado, a few months ago to film my appearance.

I was the only guest for this episode #1903. I sat on the sofa, and Alex and Ricky interviewed me. Then, did a segment with Alex, using my pine cone stencils on fabric. Then a segment with Ricky, doing machine needle-felting.
Chatting on the sofa

The show was filmed in front of  a live audience

You'll see how I create this piece (below) on The Quilt Show episode #1903

Tile Coasters painted using stencils ~ by Jane LaFazio
ceramic paint and stencils ~ by Jane LaFazio
If you live in the US or Canada, you probably have one of those paint-your-own-ceramics places downtown or in a nearby mall.

I took my stencils (designed by me for StencilGirl Products) and created these fun tile coasters. A week later, I picked them up all fired and shiny! Easy and fun!

Create unique fabric for an art quilt with Pine Cone stencils

For this project I used all 5 stencils in my new Pine Cone Stencil series for StencilGirl Products.

 >>>>>>>>>>> Jane LaFazio Stencils  <<<<<<<<<
First, stencil the images onto a piece of cloth. I used 200 thread count cotton, that had been coffee dyed.
I added batting to the back of the cloth, then, on the back, used a stenciled tracing paper to machine stitch the outline of the pine cone.
Free motion stitching, semi-carefully following the stencil lines.

Here's the back of the quilt, with the paper still on it.
Turn the quilt over and see your outline of the pine cone.

I cut up the stenciled and quilted fabric to reassemble it.

It needed a focal point, so I enlarged the stencil image, added a piece of tulle to the FRONT and stitched the outline on the back of the quilt.

Then, I cut away the tulle, around the pine cone image, to create a lavender pine cone as a focal point on the quilt.

Use a Pine Cone Stencil to create unique napkins (S367)

Pine Cone Stencil (S367) for StencilGirl Products by Jane LaFazio
>>>>>>>>    Jane LaFazio Stencils. <<<<<<<<<

I love using stencils on fabric! Here's how I created a set of napkins using the pine cone stencil I designed.
I used liquid acrylic ink and cosmetic sponges to apply the color through the stencil.
Lifting the stencil for the big reveal

Use different colors to created this lovely variety in the color

I used plain cotton, 200 thread couut

Once I was done stenciling and the ink was dry, I decided to dip the whole piece of cloth in coffee to tint it. After the coffee was dry, I washed the fabric in the washing machine on gentle cycle.

Then, I tore the fabric into napkin size squares and hemmed the edges.
