Stitching, crochet and a birthday

Well, it's been a while (again) but I have an update for you patient blog readers.

Firstly I have to show you the lovely gifts I received from Sally and Barb for my birthday. Sally made me a lovely pincushion which she had trimmed with a gorgeous and unusual trim, I tried to get a photo of the trim but couldn't get it in focus.

Barb stitched me a lovely wallet and filled it with a cute needle nanny and BBD Gathering Basket chart and the CC threads to stitch it with. Of course I had to start it straight away!

Thanks so much ladies, stitchy gifts are so lovely!!

I had a lovely birthday - spent to day with DH and went to football, we lost but even so it was a good day.

I have a few other things to show. The first is a crochet cushion, if the shape looks abit odd it's because Lottie thinks I made it for her and won't leave it alone!!

I also have some progress on my WIPs. The first is Bayside Bungalows by CCN. Some of you may remember I am stitching these designs to go in my bedroom.

The next two are from BBD, firstly the 2011 Loose Feathers design, I am really pleased with this and so glad I splashed out on the threads and fabric. The next is Anniversaries of the Heart - this is one of the bonus designs, such pretty colours again. I need to get this finished so that I can get the charts off to Sally!

Thanks for reading and I hope to be back soon to show at least one finish and my NH Spring Exchange piece.

Quick update

Well it's taken me a while to get around to another post. All the hours I worked in December took their toll and I have been very tired for the last few weeks. So, I have seen sense and started to use the leave I have remaining to cut my hours to a reasonable number per week. I'm feeling a lot better for it and have got quite a bit of stitching done too.
First up is Snow White by LHN - this chart was a gift from Karan and I love it. Need to decide how to finish it now...so long as I do it before next Christmas that will be fine won't it?

Next is the 2011 Loose Feathers design. I have stitched the first two parts and really like the way it is looking. I will be stitching the final part very soon.

I am enjoying stitching birds at the moment - I want to do another papier mache box with a bird design on the top to store my small Yankee candles in.

Lastly I have re-started my AotH with Sally. I am stitching the bonus chart from AotH 12 and it is stitching up very quickly in a lovely colour palette. I always use the recommended threads when stitching Blackbird Designs as the palette is so pretty.

I treated myself to some stash in the JJs sale - the Ink Circles Seasonal Mandalas charts ( I had already started Winter when it was published in JCS magazine) and the Treble and Alto clef designs to go with the bass clef I stitched last year.
I still haven't decided on a plan for my 2012 stitching - I made a list of what I wanted to stitch but I'm not sure how far I will get with it! I have also signed up for a Spring themed exchange on Needlecraft Haven - looking forward to that!

Well that's about all for now - hope to be back soon with more to show!

Last finishes of 2011

Happy New Year everyone!
I know I'm a little late but things have been a bit hectic over the holiday period and now I am feeling a bit under the weather. Nothing serious just not quite myself at the moment.
Anyway you are here for the stitching aren't you.  I have a few things to show that I finished at the end of the year.

First is the ornament I stitched for  Angie who was my partner in the Ornament exchange at Needlecraft Haven.

Christmas Rose designed by Nancy Pederson

the design is from the Gift Of Stitching magazine Ornament edition 2011.
My partner in the exchange was Jaclyn and she sent me this lovely ornament.

I also crocheted a jacket for the baby of a friend of DDs. I am pleased to say it was very well received.

Finally I would like to show you Winter Wonderland by Blackbird Designs. This chart was a gift from Barb and I stitched it in 2010. Well I finally got around to framing it so that I could display it over Christmas. I love it, all the decorations are away now but I still have this on display..lol. I may leave it up all year round!

That's all for now, I do have a new finish to show but will save that for another day. Also with so many SALs and other things going on I want to blog a list of my goals for 2012. I will not be joining any of the groups as I don't know if I will be able to keep up with posting pics etc but I do want to get some of my WIPs finished as well as stitch some new designs.
thanks for reading - I know I am a bad blogger ....but I am very grateful to anyone who reads and love it if you have the time to comment.

Ornaments

<p>It has been a busy time here, DH is not well , he has snap infection in his foot which is not responding to antibiotic and he can't really get about much. I haven't had a lot of time here for stitching but did finish a couple of ornaments; one Prairie Schooler and the other LHN.

I haven't had a chance to get a photo of Summer the Loose Feathers design  but that is done too and i am keen to get the next one .

DD has asked me to make a jacket for a friends baby and now  DD2 wants a scarf so they will be my next projects

unfortunately Blogger is not happy with me today and it ate part of my previous post.

Hope to be back soon with more pics - I am getting a new phone so will be looking into how to blog directly from there.....

Alan and Bob.....

This is Alan ...the partridge from the BBD Loose Feathers Summer leaflet...lol. I really love this design, it is stitched on Vintage Pear linen from Lakeside linens using the called for threads ( lovely Dinky Dyes silks and Belle Soie from Crescent Colours. I am in the process of making a box with Alan as the lid - to hold all my stitchy bits and bobs. I have also stitched the other small design from this leaflet, not decided how to finish this one yet, and I am now stitching the first part of the main sampler.

again stitched on the required linen with DD and Belle Soie.
I have enjoyed a crafty day today - recently I stitched First Bass by Ink Circles and today did a felt backed ornament finish ( pic to follow when the glue is dry) and I also started my box finish using Alan. It was a bit of a revelation really, I spent half the morning crafting and listening to music and enjoyed it immensely. I must make time to do more of this as it felt very therapeutic. I am always a bit scared of finishing items but am thinking that I need to just bite the bullet and have a go.
