Simon Says Stamp DT - Ahoy there Matey!

This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamps Challenge is a pirate theme! I have made my little boy a pirate's treasure chest money box. He gets through so many money boxes bless him as he likes to count his money and ends up breaking the stoppers on them. So I've designed him one that hopefully he won't break as he can open it easilly to count his treasure LOL! I made the treasure chest from some strong brown packaging cardboard. I scored lines to look like strips of wood and swiped various brown shades of distress ink over it all to get a wood grain effect.

The gorgeous lock is from Tim Holtz' grungeboard elements set. I've used gold and bronze luster rub on all over it to give it a gold finish. I have used various Magnolia pirate images, all coloured with distress inks, along with shells from Hero Arts antique engravings set, all available from Simon Says Stamp.
Here's pirate Edwin sitting on the top of the chest guarding the treasure! The bronze brads are from my stash!

I added some tiny studs to the barrell using gold liquid pearls.

Pirate Tilda is on the side of the chest, sitting on a huge shell. Her buckles and earings were coloured with a gold gel pen.

The other side is decorated with a large shell/fossill from the Hero Arts set.
There are a couple of shells on the back of the chest, and here you can see the tab that is part of my hopefully non breakable idea for Connor to be able to open the chest himself.

On the bottom of the chest I have made a sliding panel. Pull the tab and the panel slides out so that he can get to his money!......

......like so!

Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this week at Simon Says Stamps Challenge! Pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the team's stunning creations! Thanks for looking! x
