2020 Reflection

Well, what a year it has been.  For me it feels like it has been a haze of endless days drifting into each other.  It is fair to say that this year, with the lockdowns, stress and worry, has taken its toll on my crafting mojo and this is reflected in the lack of posts this year compared to previous years.  I have still managed to find some highlights though, and in doing so I realised that, actually, there are lots of things I have made behind the scenes for magazines and TV slots that I haven't actually blogged!  A few of those have made it into my 2020 reflection, as otherwise some months would be blank!  I hope that you are safe and well this New Year's Eve and that you enjoy my little look back at some more pleasant aspects of the past year.

January

I really love this card from January actually.  Not my usual style at all but I had discovered, somewhat late, the shadow press debossing plates by Tim Holtz and managed to source some.  The 'love you' was perfect a the bottom of this cute trio of stamps from Magnolia!

February

I love how this turned out as pink and yellow is not a usual combination for me.  This ended up being my daughter's birthday card and she loved it!

March

My choice for March is one of those non blogged projects I spoke of at the beginning.  This little set was made for Magnolia's slot on Hochanda - I really love that cute church die - can't wait for a reason to use it on a project of my own!

April

A lockdown commission from a friend of mine who really wanted a special card for her daughter's 13th birthday but back then all the non essential shops were closed and we were staying at home as much as possible.   I had to hang it on her gate as I went on my permitted one walk a day!  I love how this turned out and they loved it too!  Always a relief for a commissioned card.

May

I chose this one because it is round.  I love round cards so much!  I think it is because they seem to defy all the laws of physics by standing upright.  Of course, secretly it is not a complete circle at the back, but the casual onlooker does not know this until closer inspection!

June

A very topical card for June.  Magnolia's quaratine pop up box contained some perfect stamps for this year - I even ended up using this Tilda on my Mum's birthday card later in the year!

July

July's card was a very special make, ready to give my son later in the year for passing his exams.

August

Another card that wasn't blogged for August - my son's birthday card.  By August the pandemic situation was really taking its toll and it was a struggle to actually find motivation to make a card.  It is always difficult to make cards for males at the best of times!

September

September brings another card that wasn't blogged!  This one I made for a video tutorial for the Magnolia Youtube channel using one of the stamps from the Magnolia Christmas collection.

October

I managed to find some long lost mojo for this Halloween card!  The fact that the usual Trick or Treat activity was not a good idea this year meant that I gave my children Halloween cards for the first time and created a treat hunt in the dark in the house along with a spooky themed dinner party.  This was a resounding success and declared to be better than traditional Trick or Treating!  This makes me very happy as I personally hate the whole thing!

November

I've really loved creating more artsy, vintage style cards towards the latter end of this year.  I used Stempelglede's gorgeous stamps and Maja Design papers to make this card for my Dad's birthday.

  December

And finally, the special Christmas card I made for my parents inspired by a layout on the Prima Facebook page.  Another Stempelglede stamp and lots of different elements - I really enjoyed making this card!

So that's my 2020 reflection finished.  I'd like to thank you for reading my blog this year and hope it has provided some inspiration and relief from the real world for a while.  Let's hope that next year is a brighter one!

A Special Christmas Card

Good morning!  Today I'd lilke to share my favourite, and last, Christmas card of this year with you that I made for my parents inspired by a layout I saw on the Prima Facebook page.  I have used the Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die for the base.  Sadly, the clock as it cuts out was not big enough for my requirements so I had a little brainwave - I cut a ring using large circle dies and then cut the numbers from the Tim Holtz die cut and added them to it.  Et voila!  A bigger weathered clock!  I have added Laserowe chipboard pieces behind the image on both sides.

I have added lots of gorgeous Christmas details around the Stempelglede photo stamp image.  The paper flowers were cut from Maja Design paper and I added a cherry blossom and snowflake charm from Craft Heaven.  The pine cones were made with a Tim Holtz die and the berries are polystyrene balls inked with Festive Berries Distress Ink.  I also added a Believe die cut and an embossed sentiment using the stamp from the Magnolia Northern Lights stamp set.

On the other side I have added some bells from Craft Heaven and a poinsettia made with white Foamiran and the Magnolia Poinsettia die.  The 25 was cut from several layers of kraft cardstock using Thinlits dies and layered up to resemble chipboard.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking!

Stempelglede Star

Good morning!  I have a special card to show you today that I made for a very good friend of mine using a Stempelglede stamp from the Christmas Rose stamp set.

I have painted the deer with Distress Inks.

I had great fun using lots of techniques on this card.  Behind the image is a Scrapiniec chipboard piece which I painted with Duck Egg Distress Paint and then added Gilding Flakes in bronze and gold to it here and there.

I also painted an angel decoration from my stash with same paint and gave it a rusty look with Prima Rust paints before adding Gilding Flakes and a touch of Glitter Snow.  The poinsettias were made from white Foamiran using the Magnolia poinsettia dies and gold stamens.

The bells and roses are from Craft Heaven and the mistletoe leaves have been cut with a Magnolia die too.  The straws are from my stash.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking!

Embossed Holly

Good morning!  Today I have a card to show you that was quick to make but, I think, looks very elegant.

I have used the Stempelglede Vintage Holly Collection holly stamp and embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I have then painted inside the embossed holly leaves with Picket Fence Distress Ink.  I have then added a poinsettia made from white Foamiran and the Magnolia Poinsettia die.

The sentiment along the bottom is also from the Stempelglede Vintage Holly stamp set.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking!

A Vintage Birthday Card

Good morning!  I have a vintage style card to share with you today that I made for my dad's birthday recently.  I have used lots of gorgeous Stempelglede stamps and Maja Design papers.

The focal point of the card is the clock face, mounted onto several layers, all stamped with stamps from the Steampunk Journey stamp set and the Grunge Circle stamp.  I have then surrounded the clock with balloons, also from the Steampunk Journey set and some ephemera pieces from one of the Maja papers.  The postcard was stamped with a stamp from the Post Card from Paris stamp set.

The swirl and leaves were cut with Memory Box dies.

The cute letter tags were also cut with Memory Box dies and I added them to some thin wire to add some interest.

The straws are from my stash and the It's your Birthday sentiment is also a Stempelglede stamp, from the Have a Beautiful Day set.

The photo above shows all of the texture and layering - I used lots of 3D pads on this card!

I hope you like it and thanks for looking!

Craft Heaven DT - Vintage Style Leaving Cards

Good morning!  Today I have two cards for the price of one to share with you!  I made these cards for two of my colleagues who left last month to move on to pastures new.  I love this Stempelglede sentiment from the Follow Your Heart set for 'Sorry you're leaving' cards.

I have used Maja Design Celebration Papers for both cards.  The cards were cut with a Magnolia Doohickey frame die from Volume 13.

I have used some beautiful lace from Craft Heaven on both cards along with Scrapiniec chipboard pieces.

This piece is from the Spring Prodigy set...
...and this one is from the Mehendi Borders set.

I have stamped butterflies from Stempelglede's Vintage Baby and Have A Beautiful Day stamp sets onto coffee filter paper to adorn both cards.

I have also added small blue roses and larger white and pink roses along with some hydrangeas from my stash.

I hope you like them both...

 ...and thanks for looking! x

Craft Heaven DT - Happy Father's Day

Good evening!  Today I have my latest card for Craft Heaven to share with you.  It was Father's Day here in the UK last weekend and this is the card I made for my dad.  I have used Maja Design's Denim Collection papers and stamps from Stempelglede, both available from Craft Heaven.
I have used the Happy Father's Day text from Stempelglede's Have a Beautiful Day collection as the main focus of the card.
The stamps were stamped with another Stempelglede stamp from the Postcard from Paris collection.
The text is also from the Postcard from Paris collection.  The button was cut with a Tim Holtz die and I added some twine from my stash.
I hope you like it and I've inspired you to have a go at those very tricky male cards.  I always struggle to decide what to put on them.  Thanks for looking! x
