I have a finish, well actually three!!

I finally finished my Little Letters ABC quilts.
It was a quilt along hosted by
Temecula Quilt Company.
The directions are still posted.... HERE.

I used a Mary Engelbreit Nursery Rhyme print for the back.

I loved making these, well the Z and the B were almost left out!!!

What does the Alphabet and Red and White have in common?

Nothing but the two projects I have been working on this week.

I am still plugging away on my ABC Quilts!

I have always wanted to make a red and white quilt.  No other colors just red and white so I have been saving fabrics for this quilt.

I cut 200 5 X 5 squares. Does not look like much does it?

This is the top getting basted.  I have tried so many ways of basting but for me the floor still works the best. I use the grand-children's puzzles as weights and roll the quilt as I pin.

There is a lovely lady on Instagram that does beautiful big stitch quilting. I asked her what needles she used and she uses
Big Stitch Needles
by
Pepper Cory

I also highly recommend them, they can glide through the top, batting and backing and do not bend.
It has been hard for me to get use to big stitching because I try to take such tiny stitches when I quilt.
I will say that I am enjoying the process.

Thank you for your visit.
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you get to do something you love.
See you next week.

Little Letters and a New Project!

I know a new project, but in my defense I am caught up on my little letters!

So while I was on Pinterest I saw this...

I could not find the pattern so I am just winging it!

I cannot draw but I was happy with these little guys.

Plus some fall fabrics from my friend as I do not have these colors in my stash.

Yep, I traced and then stitched the little guys on the wrong side of the fabric.
Oh well!
I still need to spritz the embroidery to remove the blue lines.
I am now making hexies.

I might get it done for Thanksgiving, unless a new project catches my eye!

These Are So Much Fun

I am so glad I decided to join Temecula Quilt Company's ABC quilt along.
The letters are so sweet.
I will say that for me the letter B, was a bear, get it, B for Bear!
Without the help of Sandie from crazy'boutquilts, my grand-babies would have thought the alphabet did not have a B in it.  She kindly emailed me step by step directions and they came out perfect!  Thank you Sandie!

I Just Could Not Resist!

I thought long and hard about joining Temecula Quilt Company's ABC quilt along.
You see I have three daughters, so I needed to make three.quilts.  But how could anyone resist that darling quilt.

So, I called my friend Elaine and she loved it too!
We met and got busy.

I have been waiting for a project where I could use my solids and, baby, this was it!!  I thought I could use about 13 fabrics for a repeat of two. I am using Kona white for the background.

The quilt along is up to letter G, so we spent our time cutting.

First the solids.  Thank goodness for Elaine, she is a math wiz and let me know just how much to cut for each piece.
Here are A thou G, cut and ready.

We also cut the background strips and labeled them for the future blocks.

Today I made A.

I have been singing this song all the time I was sewing.
