Highland Park street crochet

guest post by trend spotter Ginny Glass.

York Blvd.

Magda urban guerilla knitter:

Because sometimes someone has an idea,
a vision
and a pile of old afghans and yarn
and on the right night
when the stars align
and the moon is foolish
they are able to create a soft urban
wrapsody.

art <--> architecture

artist Luis Urculo does 'covers'
of great buildings by stacking stuff.

meditative study of scale, spaces, textures, form.

maira kalman

Maira Kalman's paintings have grabbed my attention lately.
She and Lemony Snicket have a new book together with great, vibrant illustrations.

i love all the shades of white on that box
and in the background.

these images are small, but just look at that tablecloth.

don't miss the casually deployed Rietveld chairs
and the amazing collection of ladders

thanks to HarperCollins for the screen grabs

here is a nice post about her

PIG 05049

here is a great gift for the artsy foodie on your list:
PIG 05049

this book is by the same guy who makes the giant knit object from my recent post.
it is all about the myriad uses for pig parts.
it calls to mind the Native American thing of using
every
single
part of an animal.
we have clearly gotten quite good at that.

buy the book here.

also a beautiful movie about wool, same guy.

[also please note plywood floors in studio,
which make me long for our former home]
