First Christmas

With two new grandchildren born this past few months, I had two cards semi completed, just needed to do the appropriate coloured scarves. As it turned out I needed two blue ones, which I cut in coloured glitter card. The baby Reindeer die is from Tonic and I used an old Crafters Companion embossing folder for the frame. I created some snow drifts with some torn paper and blue ink and added some die cut and embossed trees around him. I used Kraft card for his body and then added some brown and red card for the extra pieces. I edged the piece with some ink and the sentiment was done on the PC. I added some glitter on the trees and I found a tiny snowflake stamp to add on sentiment.

Introducing Jolly St Nick

I used the Jolly St Nick die from Tim Holtz to make some more special cards this year. This card is for my grandaughter. It's a stepper card and I used the same dies as fridays card for the sky and snow background. The sentiment is from Creative Expressions and so are the trees. I used a Tim Holtz Elf die in a previous card and the presents came with the set of dies. Santa is another colourize die, he does have quite a few layers but once you have done one , the rest are easier and there is a youtube video to follow .

Lisa Horton Postage Slim dies

Good moring, today I have the third card from a recent kit using the Sizzix Floral Layers die. This time I went with a landscape DL sized card. Slimline cards are really trendy now but the american slimline dies are not the same as our DL size. Lisa Horton has brought out a range of different edged DL slimline dies and this one is the Nested Postage set with apertures. For this card I just used the outside edge and the stitched inner one. I had some fabric looking card I brought at a show years ago, so I teamed that up with some Kraft card. Again I die cut the flowers in White card and inked them all in different shades of Pinks,Greens and yellows. Its finished off with a sentiment from Creative Expressions . I have another card I will be posting soon using the apertures, but I need to wait for the recipients to get it in the post before I blog it .

Believe in the magic of christmas

My posts of the next few days feature cute/whimsy cards. Today's card features Santa and his sleigh and uses some dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Its a stand up box card that folds flat for posting. I did a similar one last year but I did a class kit recently and needed to create another one.  The background has been created using Distress Oxide inks and the sentiment is a new one this year from Creative Expressions and perfect for this card. The dies were all cut in white cardstock and I used various Distress Inks to colour them all in. I dont have all the colours I wanted for the sky in Distress Ink so I used Oxides instead but you could of course use the same ink range for all the card. I created some snow along the bottom by tearing some card and adding some ink and glitter.

Sizzix Stocking

This week I am showing you some ideas for cards using the Sizzix Stocking die. For this card I cut the stocking from some patterned paper . The bow, candy cane and trim comes in the set. The holly is from the die I was using last week called Winter Foliage. I used a stitched rectangle for the cream layer and matted onto some green cardstock. The Happy Christmas die cut is from Creative Expressions.

Let It Snow

Snowy card today using the Sizzix Winter Leaves die set combined with Creative Expressions Winter Tree dies. I embossed the back piece of card in an old embossing folder from Crafters Companion, then I blended some ink over it using Distress Tumbled Glass ink. The Winter trees were arranged long the middle and I die cut a circle to hold the Let It Snow sentiment, which was cut in Silver mirror card.  I arranged some of the holly leaves that I cut from the Sizzix set around the bottom half. These where cut in a pale blue card. I finished off with some glitter gems for the berries to keep it a blue and white themed colour combo. I did add some glitter to the trees as well.

Envelope card

Another week over and I hope you are going to have time to fit in some crafting this weekend. My card today is an envelope card using the Sizzix Winter Leaves die set. You can pull the insert out where tab is to write your greeting. I used a mixture of shades of silver glitter card and silver and red mirror card . I used an old embossing folder for the white triangles and an even older punch for the tab. The "JOY " is from a Tim Holtz alphabet set. I finished off with a few red gems for berries.

There is a stand on the back so it sits upright.

Christmas Wreath

Today's card uses a Sizzix holly die to create a half wreath. I die cut the holly leaves and blended Distress Oxide ink over each one.  I drew around a circle die with a pencil so I had a guide to create the wreath. Before I started sticking down I blended some more ink inside and outside the pencil line. I used SU Crumb Cake cardstock for the mat so used same ink, but you could use any kraft colour ink in your stash. I then watered down some white acrylic paint and splattered it over the card using a paint brush. I added some red gems for the berries and finished off with a sentiment die cut. Its a large 7x5 tent style card.

Baby card

Happy Friday, its the weekend and I hope you are spending sometime crafting. Today I am sharing the card I made for my grandsons arrival this week. I used a old Sue Wilson embossing folders, which has tiny hearts on it. The die is from Marianne and I wanted the giraffe popping through the heart die. I used some scraps of Bazzill cardstock to make him. I used some old sentiment stamps from Clearly Besotted to go in the middle of the heart.  Finished off with the fabulous Itty Bitty bow which sadly you can't get anymore.

Pink Fresh Studio Floral Elements

Nearing the end of another week and the weather is still gorgeous. I recently purchased a bundle of dies, stamps and washi tape from Hochanda by Pink Fresh Studio. If you haven't heard of them , they are an american company that sells cardmaking as well as scrapbooking products. I have mainly used their scrapbooking papers etc but I have always liked the look of their washi but it tends to sell out quickly when online shops over here get it in. So I grabbed a few items when it was on and it's finally came this week as its was on extended delivery. The dies and stamps coordinate but the dies can also be used on the washi tape, which I thought was a great idea. On the washi tape you get a selection of small flowers, a large wreath and a large floral image. Today's card uses the wreath element. I took a Lisa Horton die to make the square and then applied the washi tape wreath to some cardstock and used the matching dies to cut the outside and inside edge. I then took the inside die and cut that out of the square. Its easily done, just lightly mark with a pencil where the die sits in the middle of the wreath on the square, tape the die down and run through your machine. Match the wreath up with the hole you have cut with the inner die and glue down.  I added foam pads behind the square to create an aperture . I then worked out where I wanted to position the anniversary stamp and I stamped that first, then attached the square to the card blank. The "happy" die was glued on the edges that overlap the wreath, there is no way of putting foam pads under it , it's too fine. I did though run it through with some white card two more times and layered together to make it more stable. Finished off with some Nuvo drops as per usual for me nowadays.

Penguin Easel and Shaker card

Not long now and Christmas will be here! Today and tomorrow I am showing you the cards I have made for my Grandchildren. This card is an easel design and I have used the Elizabeth Craft Penguin. I saw these little foam snowballs in The Range, I think they were Trimcraft. I had some shaker cups in my stash that I used to fill with the snowballs and attached the Penguin on the front. I coloured the Penguins scarf with Distress ink to match the papers. The bottom of the easel holds the sentiment which is a die from Creative Expressions and I cut it a few times so it stands up more. This card does fold flat, if I had used two shaker cups, it wouldn't. So I just used one and to cover up the front and back I used a embossing folder and some circle dies to make frame to go around the outside. I Finished it off with a bow .

Hi, I hope you are all well and enjoying the run up to the festivities. Most of my cards have been given out now so I can start posting again. I brought an Crafters Companion Foilpress a few months ago and several of my cards this year use foil in them. This card uses a Bright Rosa background die and foiled the "Noel" with some silver foil. The Mistletoe has been die cut from the same foil which has been stuck to some double sided adhesive. Finished off with a little bow from an old die set I had in my stash.

Today I am sharing card no.3 I have made using my new Bright Rosa Elongated Hexagon die set. I'm still working my way through my paper pads. This time I used one of the plain corner dies for the back panel. I have done several mats using the different Hexagon sizes in the set. Next I have made a Poinsettias from a John Next Door die and embellished with some foliage dies. I added some Gold stamens using silicone glue in the center. I double layered the sentiment and off set it slightly.

Encased Oxide Ink

Hi, this is the third card I made for my recent class using Oxide inks and Marianne Twigs and Twine stamp set.  It’s layers of stamps that have been stamped with Wow ink and then heated with Wow clear embossing powder then covered with Oxide ink . Then repeated with another shade of green. I started with Bundled Sage, next Peeled Paint and finally Forest Moss. The final layer of stamps have been embossed with Wow Gold embossing powder. The sentiment is from the new Lisa Horton Mixed Christmas Sentiment stamps and have been embossed with Gold as well.

Framed Poinsettia

My class today was based around Distress Oxides . There has been a release of new colours and I wanted to show three different ways to use these wonderful ink pads.

Today’s card uses the Framed Poinsettia stamp from Woodware . I have used Candied Apple , Mowed Lawn and Tea Dye (last two are from the latest release) Oxides and coloured with a water brush on Watercolour card. The image has been stamped with Black Versafine ink. The side panel has been created using a Versamark ink and the stamp. The sentiment comes in pack .

John Lockwood Gerbera Square Background Die

Hi there , today’s card uses some left overs I had from preparing classes . I had created a background using Distress Oxides ( here is a link to my original card
I die cut the Gerbera die , backed it with acetate and stamped the sentiment and butterflies in Black Stazon Ink. They are from the Butterfly corners stamp set also by John . I then mounted foam tape around the back and added glitter to create a shaker card. I finished off with a fine liner pen.

Let it Snow

Hi there , hopefully you got some crafting in today because it was horrible weather outside. This is my last card from my acetate class using Creative Expressions Glitter Kisses Midnight Sparkle . The stencil is also from Creative Expressions and is from their mini range. Very simple and easy to do and Glitter Kisses dries quicker than texture paste , which is why I use it in class.

Brushed Blooms

I made this card quite a while ago with the stamps and dies from the Stampin Up Brushed Blooms set, that appears in the Jan/June 2021 mini b...
