Little Retreats in Action

Little Retreats in action - Jenalyn and Tyler | October 9. 2010 | LasVegas, NV

Last month I was so very honored to craft a few photo booth props on a stick sets for the then soon to be bride Jenalyn. Turns out Jenalyn is and was one of the classiest, hippest most beautiful brides around. I'm sure you'll agree from the photos below.

I about fell out of my chair when I received her email and photos. Absolutely stunning!

Jenalyn shared that day was Anthropologie inspired, which is where the bridesmaid dresses and necklace are from. What a beautiful couple. What an amazing celebration!

Halloween Specimens

This October we are keeping the Halloween decor boxed up and decorating the house in Fall Harvest theme. But in the spirit of things I thought I would share a fun project I put together last year.

All the jars and vases were scored at the local GoodWill.
The labels for each jar were downloaded from Love Manor's flickr set HERE.
And the contents of each were found items from around the house.

Super cheap, super fast, super fun.

The loony scientist's secret sauces....

- Mr. Bone's vampire blood is waterdown ketchup.
- Winifred's Snake Oil is a little green and yellow food coloring (mixed in water).
- The Swamp Fog is an empty smoked glass Absolute vodka bottle. The fog is so thick it smoked the glass. :)
- The Moon Dust is a little beach sand (if only we had a wood burning fireplace for real ashes.)
- The Scrumptious Earth Worms is just a jar filled with rich potting soil.
- The Toadstool Clippings are dried mushrooms.
- The Fur of a Werewolf - puppy fur. Our (non shedding) puppy was so patient to let me continue to brush, and brush, and brush him until I had enough fur.
- Vampire Fangs - plain ol' brown rice
and the unlabeled beet colored jar holding what looks like two hearts...yup, two peeled beets in water.

Jessica Claire's work is amazing. I could spend days pouring over her amazing photoshoots, ideas, and beautiful real lifcaptured moments.

Here's a snipit of just one of her recent shoots. So many wonderful ideas and inspiration to draw from. (I completely sold on the use of the embroidery hoops throughout.)

Book Themed Baby Shower Invites

Our dear friends John and Ashley are expecting their first baby in November. Almost immediately after hearing the great news dear hubby and I offered to host their co-ed baby shower.

Both John and Ashley are avid readers so it only made perfect sense when Ashley asked for a book theme shower. (Even more perfect was that I had tucked this find away month and months ago just on the chance that was the theme/direction they wanted to take.)

Using the classics as inspiration I created these 48 old school library card invites.

Materials Used:

Book Plate Download

A heavy cardsock solid or print to mount the card envelopes to

Glue Stick

Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch

Standard hole punch for the ‘card catalog’

Bakers Twine

Seal, sticker, tape, anything that suits your fancy. I used Martha’s eyelet seals (no longer available-sad)

Cover or Cardstock to create the card catalogs and book plates

Envelopes and stamps
