Eddie Higgins Trio - If Dreams Come True (2004)

Japan exclusive release from the bop-based jazz pianist, If Dreams Come True features the cool jazz stylings of the Eddie Higgins Trio with Jay Leonhart and Joe Ascione. Higgins, who passed away in 2009, was at playing melodies with swing-like feeling. His melodies had groove and swing-feeling without being too superfluous. Such swing-feeling of Eddie Higgins was also often compared to those of Oscar Peterson and Nat King Cole.

Eddie Higgins - Eddie Higgins In Chicago (1995)

Born and raised in New England, Eddie (Haydn) Higgins started his professional career in Chicago, while studying at the Northwestern University Music School. For twenty years Eddie worked at some of Chicago's best known jazz clubs, including the Brass Rail, Preview Lounge, Blue Note, Cloister Inn and Jazz Ltd. His longest and most memorable job was at the London House, where he led the house trio for twelve years, playing opposite the biggest jazz stars of the 50's and 60's.

Eddie Higgins - Standards By Request 1st Day (2008)

Pianist Eddie Higgins may not be a household name in the US, but is undoubtedly the most popular and most prolific musician in the roster of the Japanese independent label Venus Records. Since his Venus "debut" in 1997, Higgins has released more than 20 albums from the label. This one is a pair of solo piano albums, a collection of standards requested by the readers of Swing Journal, the premier Japanese jazz magazine. A list of top 40 requests was presented to Higgins, and the original intention was to record material for just one album. But after completing 15 tracks on the first day, which in itself is remarkable, Higgins wanted to keep
going. So, an additional recording took place the following day, and he recorded another 15 tracks!

These two superbly recorded albums prove why Higgins is so popular in Japan. It's all there -- his lovely sound, beautiful touch, elegant swing and melodious improvisation. Recommended! (Eastwind Import)
