This week at One Stitch at a Time, the challenge is 'boy-ish', and we're sponsored by:
This week, I got to choose from the fabulous selection of Delicious Doodles images and decided on one called 'Sunset at Sea'.
Isn't that a gorgeous image? And it gave me ample chance to use lots of glorious colours which is always a bonus as far as I'm concerned. It's not specifically 'boyish' but it's not 'girlish' either, and I'm going to send it to my son for his birthday.
The image is coloured with a mix of Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The background is one of those supplied with my version of Photoshop Elements, and I've finished off with some shaped seashells which came from a CD I've had for ages called the Crafty Image Emporium which is full of images which are no longer copyright protected. I used my flower-shaping tools to add to their texture, scoring on the right side with a narrow tool and then on the opposite side with a much wider one.
I hope you can join us this week.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Catz where anything goes,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 192
This week at One Stitch at a Time, our challenge is to use a digi - so off you go!
The image for this challenge was chosen by my team mate, Shell. It's Olyvia from Delicious Doodles which is available from the Stitchy Bear shop - like in my sidebar.
I coloured the image with Promarkers, die cut and matted using Spellbinders dies. The paper is from Kate Knight, and I finished with flowers made using a punch and a Susan's Garden die set from Sizzix.
I hope you can join us this week.

Now, steampunk isn't my favourite theme. In fact, I've got to say that I don't really get it at all, and my first reaction was to give it a miss. But, I hunted around, and came across a fabulous image from Make It Crafty called Metallic Flowers, and once I had that, I was off.
First, I imported the image into Photoshop Elements, then I added a filigree frame. I printed the result, and coloured with Sakura Metallic pens and water. The background was created in Photoshop Elements using a background that came with the software and an image from Delicious Doodles called Cogs Corner Piece which I placed at each corner. Then, I copied the smallest cog, making a 'string' of them between the corners.
I've cut with Nestibilities, and matted with gold mirror card.
I hope you can join us this week.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 161
This week at One Stitch at a Time the challenge is to make a card for a mum. Of course, it's bit late for Mother's Day, but there are still a lot of mums out there who deserve cards!
As usual, we're sponsored by
Check the challenge blog for details.
This week, I worked with a gorgeous image from Delicious Doodles from a set called Floral Cap Nouveau. Sadly, my mum died a couple of years ago, and with Mother's Day over, I'm unlikely to be asked for a card that says 'Mum' on the front, so I've gone for making a birthday card for my sister (who's a mum.)
Now, this is what you call a bit of serendipity. Between requesting the image and getting it, I happened to go to a friend's house. She was selling off some cardmaking supplies, and I fell in love with a paper pad from Paper Pizazz which included this one. When I was looking for something to use with the image, it was an obvious match - the flowers are so similar, and with the swirling vines and leaves, it seemed perfect!
I cut the image using a Spellbinders die. I coloured with a mix of Promarkers and Flexmarkers, then stitched the pricked areas of the die cut. To finish, I've made some flowers. They're punched card, and the top layers have been punched from a printed sheet I had lying about - from a CD called Flower Power. To the centre of each flower, I've added some Stickles mixed with Perfect Pearl in red (as I only had clear and blue Stickles!) The leafy swirls were cut using a set of Spellbinders dies.
I hope you can join us this week.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Artistic Impressions where they want a card for a lady,
Forever Friends where they want lots of flowers,
Stampin' for the Weekend where they want die cuts/punches,
Sassy Studios where they want something for a special lady,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 158
This week at One Stitch at a Time, our challenge is ... Anything Goes!
We're sponsored by:
See the challenge blog for more details.
This week, I worked with a lovely image from Delicious Doodles called Fuchsia and Hummingbird.
I gave the background of the image a faint blue tint in Photoshop Elements before printing. I coloured with Promarkers, and cut the image before mounting it onto some pretty mint green pearlescent card. For the background, I embossed some Coredinations card with an Embossalicious folder (petite dot) and then sanded it.
It's a simple card, but I love that colour combination, and I like the contrast between the pearlescent and the duller shade of the Coredinations.
I hope you can join us this week.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Sparkles where they want birds,

Crafter's Companion where they want flowers, (I used a DieSire embossing folder.)
Happy Campers where the theme is 'flower power',

Ladybird Crafts Ink where anything goes,
Two Sisters where anything goes,
Catch the Bug where anything goes.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 105
This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're challenging you to make it girly! (An ideal challenge for Mother's Day too!)
Our sponsors this week are
Now, there's a lot of scope with this theme, but for me, there's nothing girlier than flowers!
So, I took Delicious Doodles gorgeous image Floral Watering Can which is available at Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. I coloured it with Promarkers, first deciding to have a pink and purple theme for the blooms. Then I decided that the watering can just had to be green, but since the flowers were already fairly dark, I decided to go for a limish green. The result was very bright, and I initially despaired of finding some paper to work with the colours. (Note: illogically, I didn't do it the other way round. I rarely do!) Then, I remembered a paper pad I got with a magazine a while ago. I can rarely resist magazines that give paper pads (unless they're full of cute critters, of course), but I have to say that the colours in this pad are so bright I wondered if I'd ever manage to use them (I think it's a Kate Knight pad with the word Tropical in there somewhere.) Anyway, to my amazement, it seemed to work perfectly, so I added a lime green mat or two, die cut a mat in a strong purply-pink, then some die cut flowers (Spellbinders) and butterfly (Marianne) and a couple of sticky gems.
Having done it, I think I'll probably be using more of that pad, as I like the result - even if sunglasses are needed!
I hope you can join us this week, and I wish every mum out there a very happy day! I'm off the the Stitch and Craft show at Olympia with my daughter, so I'll have to wait to link this card to challenges when I get back!
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp where anything goes,
Totally Stampalicious where they want flowers,
Digital Tuesday where the theme is 'think spring',
I Love Promarkers where anything goes,
Shelly's Images where anything goes,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 98
It's time for a new Collaboration Giveaway at Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps - spend just $10 and get a whole pack of images and papers chosen by the design team!
And what's more, the winner of this challenge will receive the whole set of images and papers free, as chosen by members of the design team!
My choice this time was the beautiful 'Iris' from Delicious Doodles. This is such a pretty image, and I don't think you can ever have too many flower images!
I coloured the image with a mix of Promarkers and Flexmarkers, but unusually, didn't print it on Ryman card. I bought a pack of Joanna Sheen's Elegance Satin card a while ago, but hadn't used it before. I went for the lighter weight option, and it definitely printed ok in my printer. In terms of colouring, I found what I've noticed before with both the Crafter's Companion Neenah card and some Stampin' Up card that someone gave me some rubber stamped images on. Compared to my usual Ryman card, the colours probably blend a bit better - there's less tendency to start to see the paper structure if you've applied a lot of colour. The downside is that it bleeds more than the Ryman. I suspect I can probably get used to the amount of bleed since it isn't excessive, but there is a learning curve involved. The only paper I've found that doesn't bleed is the Letraset paper, but I find colours pool on the surface and it's pretty much impossible to do any blending at all.
The background paper here is from my stash, and the flowers are a mix of Wild Orchid Crafts and the 99p shop! I cut the image with a Spellbinders die and matted it with a hand-cut piece using the same die. To finish the card, I added some sticky gems.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The Stamp Man where they want us to 'embellish it'

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 87
This week at One Stitch at a Time the challenge is to use a digi. That's all! Our sponsor this week is One Stop Card Crafts.
This week, I chose a lovely image from Delicious Doodles called Sniffing Daisies.
Isn't that a lovely image? And a lovely change from all the Christmas Cards I've been doing lately. I've also used another Delicious Doodles image - the Monarch Butterfly. The main image and butterflies were coloured with Promarkers, although the sky in the main image is daubed with Distress Ink using a stencil brush. The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection. Someone gave me a pad in my work's Secret Santa, and I've used them a lot - they're just such gorgeous colours - warm but not too heavy.
Hope you can join us this week.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 75
This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're challenging you to show us your style - it's anything goes!
I decided to take advantage to get another Christmas card done, and I was lucky enough to be working with a really sweet image from Delicious Doodles called Frosty the Snowman.
I generated the frame and greeting in Photoshop Elements, added the image, and then coloured the sky, adding some snowflakes. After printing, I coloured the image and added some glitter. The paper is from my stash, and the ribbon was from a Hobbycraft bargain bin a while ago!
I hope you can join us this week.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 51
One of my favourite themes at Crafty Cardmakers this time - Butterflies! I think if I were to sort my craft goodies by theme, butterflies would probably come third to flowers and fairies!
I started with the butterfly - a beautiful digi from Delicious Doodles which I printed and coloured with Sakura Stardust pens in a range of blues, greens and copper. I then made some paper using the same image, coloured digitally, in Photoshop Elements.
The flower is from Prima, and I coloured it using Twinkling H2Os, and finished it with a sticky gem which I coloured to match using a Promarker. I used a Martha Stewart border punch. The 'stem' ribbon was coloured with Promarker, and the card was finished with a bow.
Hope you can join us this time!

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 53
This is the first of two posts for this challenge, which is sponsored by the Stamping Boutique!
The theme this week is 'Glitter and Gems' so go on, get sparkly!
This week I was working with the gorgeous Monarch Butterfly image from Delicious Doodles which is available at the Stitchy shop. It's such a pretty butterfly, and while it'd be ideal as a main image, I think it'd also make a wonderful embellishment! I decided to use it as part of a sparkly, glittery table centre.
I printed several sizes of the butterfly onto polyester film, and glittered the image using a Quickie glue pen and ultra-fine glitter. The flowers are all hand-made using either punches of die cuts for the basic shapes. They all started as white card, and I used Promarkers to colour the base colours and added accents with Twinkling H2Os. The flowers were all finished with a spritz of Glimmer Mist in Pearl.

I arranged the flowers in a bowl on a base of shredded tissue paper and added the butterflies. One has been 'suspended' over the bowl using an offcut of the film which was fixed inside the bowl.

A bit different from my usual projects, but I'm pretty sure I'll be using these butterflies regularly - it's a great image and with the magic of digital, so versatile!
