Why I love The Brave and the Bold

Six issues now and I have to say that The Brave and the Bold is one of my favorite books. Mark Waid and George Perez are working magic on this title, weaving a storyline amongst several heroes and several locations and every step of it makes perfect sense. The art is top-notch and the dialogue rings right on the money. But better than that are the little touches that Waid & Perez put in. Things like: (cover shots courtesy of Grand Comic Book Database)

How can you NOT be amazed and awed at a book like this? The sad part is that I'm sure that I've missed a dozen more references in the six issues.
