JoFY Bingo Wk.4

This week's bingo draw has thrown another festive curve ball...
I planned a triptych for this week's bingo and started with 3 plain pieces of card (7.5x12.5cm) connected on the reverse with tape to keep them together while I worked on them.

I coloured the background with Distress Oxide inks (Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin) (making sure each card had both colours) and splashed them with water to break up the background.

I stamped the swirly border from JOFY40 in Picked Raspberry and the words from JOFY31 in black Archival.

I spritzed the flower image from JOFY31 with water and stamped on each card - this removes some of the colour.

I dried the cards and created 'flowers' by stamping the circles (JOFY31) in Versamark and embossed them with white powder - I did this rather than stamping in white because sometimes the Distress Ink can bleed into wet layers.

I stamped a heart on each card using black Archival. I wanted to make more of a feature of the circle 'flowers' and so painted water inside the image to lift the colour.

To make them look more flowerlike I drew stalks and grasses using a white pen.

I wanted to have words on each card so used the block words on JM40 - once removed from the phrase they could be used in lots more situations...

The hearts were made more solid by colouring with a pencil, & I added hanging threads to each one.  Small hearts were punched from card and added (with 3d foam) to the big hearts to cover some of the stars making them less christmassy.

I separated the cards and attached them to a white backing panel - this makes them looks crisp and the colours really pop!

I really like working with Distress inks - especially the Distress Oxides - and a pink and orange colour scheme makes me happy!!

Now its your turn - I hope you can join in this week and if you can here's what you need to know!:
:o)

The numbers are drawn on Monday, along with a project I've made using the corresponding stamp sets, then the plan is to:
  • Use/combine 2 stamp sets (use only those stamp sets - not all the stamps in each set - that would be too much of an ask but as long as there are one or two stamps from each set then its OK!)
  • 7 days to create 1 project, makers choice:  cards... atc... journal page... dimensional project... tag...
  • Use any paints/media, colours, embellishments, stencils/masks
  • Load up your project to Instagram any time during the week.  Please use Instagram links #jofybingo and @jofyjo in the text (not 'tagging' me please) so I can find it :o)
If you don't have an Instagram account you can add your make in the comments on the Facebook post linked to this blog post (facebook links:  https://www.facebook.com/JoFY.JoFirthYoung/ or https://www.facebook.com/jo.firthyoung )
I hope you can join in - I look forward to seeing what you create!

    Where did the time go!

I am off schedule with my christmas posts (lots of things going on here)  - I meant to blog this before now - better late than never I suppose!

Designed for a class at Forget Me Not Kraft Kabin in Rochford, its a 20cm board canvas - a sampler/patchwork of lots of this years christmas stamps and my go to christmas mini JM07.

A fun project - these look great framed (Ikea frames are a perfect and inexpensive option) so can be brought out each year.

    Deck the Halls...

    ... with festive bunting!!

This project was created for a class at That's Crafty in Romford.

It's made from greyboard, painted, stenciled and stamped with touches of glitter and sparkle ...  all very festive.

Pennants were given a frosty look with snowflakes (JM07) stamped in Metallic Glaze - I like how the snowflakes are only visible when the pennant catches the light. (The spotty background was created with the That's Crafty 'Bubbles' stencil)

Twiggy took centre stage against a snowy stenciled background (That's Crafty 'Snowflakes'), The tags on either side of him and text along the top of the pennant are from Emma Godfey's EEG12.

Round tags were decorated with stars from JOFY39, all the tags were stamped and painted on both sides just in case they turned around when hung.

This bunting was a lot of fun to create.  I really like the pieces as a length of pennants but the designs and layouts could easily transfer to cards or a canvas (I have an example that to show you in the next day or so)- or they could be tied as individual pennants onto a christmas tree.

    ALBOTAT: Birthday cards for boys....

... are tricky aren't they! (well for me anyway) I tend to reach for the Stampotique stamps when the Nephews' birthdays come around...

This time  I went for a funky-dancing-dude-party card...

The Stampotique character is 'dancing' with one leg in the air which, I thought, made it look like he could be standing on something... so I doodled a present - he's bringing a gift to the party!

The background is a Gelli® print (little bit obsessed with these at the moment!), the text is the Fortress alphabet from MaVinci - (really nice, slightly distressed font), the streamers are one of my new christmas images (from JOFY40, seems to work everywhere!). The dancing chap is Jasper Fruhling by Stampotique (available at www.itscraftingtime.co.uk )

    98 days until Christmas....

    ...I'm just saying... no pressure...

If you're not one of the uber efficient people out there that has made all their christmas cards already - yes they are out there!.. here are a couple of cards from my class on Saturday to hopefully inspire you to get creating with the new JOFY stamps..  these cards were created using JOFY39 & JOFY40

I like this card because it shows that the trees can be shortened, and given dimension with simple layering.

If you go HERE the lovely people at the Royal Mail have listed when last posting dates are for the christmas period... when you visit this blog you get all kind of useful information - not just stamping, painting and crafting! lol

    New PaperArtsy Products: Day 6

HO HO HO.. or should I say Jo Jo Jo because this evening on the PaperArtsy blog its my turn and is about my latest JOFY stamp release - and these are all about Christmas...
PaperArtsy have made a great video of the release, so pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass of eggnog and enjoy:

Here are this year's christmas stamps sets.  There has been a 'rustic' trend in christmas decorations over the last couple of years along with the usual glitz and glamour and I hope these stamps set tick both those boxes.  I love my snowman - I call him Twiggy - just standing there in his flower pot hoping for snow!

JOFY40 has a bit more of the sparkly side of christmas - a glass cloche filled with ornaments - LOVE that idea...

Here's a little something I made using the new stamps.. a cute little 3x5in box canvas.. I painted the canvas in a blend of Bora Bora and Slate (mixed with a little bit of Stone to lighten the grey). Snowflakes are JM07 (its a 'go'to' christmas stamp for me).
My festive wingmen did a great job at creating samples (and with quite a short deadline - thank you soooo much for that)  you can see their lovely projects over on the PaperArtsy blog.  So THANK YOU Keren, Lauren, Clare and Liz - I am recommending that you all go straight to the top of Father Christmas's NICE list.

I hope you all enjoy the stamps, the stamples and the fast approaching festive season!
    ho ho ho!
