Mystic goes bye bye!

Last time I posted:
After working on it a little yesterday:

And I think I am just gonna stick this in the unloved and forgotten drawer... You know that feeling you have when your work day is about over and you're thinking about that magical moment when you can sit in that special chair and pick up your stitching?  When you think of that beautiful WIP you have waiting for you and you just have a small shiver giddiness at the thought that you will once be together again in just a few hours or minutes?  Well, I just don't feel that for this piece. I feel dread. So, I think it's time for us to break up. I hate breaking up with projects. I really DO want to love this piece, but I'm just not enjoying the process.

So now I'm wondering if I should start a new project to put in this spot, or should I just skip ahead and work on my other HAED piece: Flower Bride.  Hmmm... There is a new project I promised my daughter to do for her, so I'm thinking maybe now is the time to get that kitted up and started...
What do you think? Leave me a comment and help me decide a) start a new project b) just move onto my next project in my rotation (HAED)
Thank you for reading and for all the lovely comments on my first ever HAED page finish. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Mystic Dragon

Here is Mystic Dragon last February when I last shared it.
And here's after I worked on it the last 5 days:

This one stitches up pretty slowly as that black 18 count Aida is killer on the eyes.
But I think it's coming along, slow and steady, but at least there's some progress.

Hope you are all having a great week! Hope it's full of stitches!

Mystic Dragon Progress

Well I was able to get all the pink done on the front of his throat, worked on some of the blue at the bottom and then that streak of light yellow going up the right hand side. I'm trying to get to the top, so I can start working on the decorative circle that goes around him. This pattern is kinda hard to follow. Lots of color changes and partial stitches, but the circle is pretty straight forward stitching. So I thought I could use it as " reward stitching" for working on the dragon itself.  If that makes any sense lol.
Well me and my little one are sick with colds. Mine seems to be more in my chest than my nose, but she is coughing and has a runny nose.
Well, next up will be progress on "Web of Life".
Happy stitching all!

First update of Mystic for 2014

Well, I just got home from my trip to the west coast 2 days ago. So, didn't get much done stitchy wise on this project this go around. I wanted to work on it yesterday, but was battling some sort of stomach bug, never actually got sick, but was nauseaus and just icky-feeling most the day, so lazed around reading and watching TV.

I worked on the pink area on the left hand side. that is the dragons neck.  I only got about 1 1/2 hours work in on it, but it seems to be stitching up pretty quickly. I am really enjoying this project.

Well, this year, I have decided to make some changes to this blog, and my stitching. Last year I usually just rotated between three projects, 5 days each twice a month. This time, I am going to be working a 7 project rotation. Each getting 5 days worth of work on them. Throughout the year, I am anticipating some finishes, and as I finish a project I will be adding a new one to the rotation. Like The Abbey, which I think will be finished by summer, I will rotate it out and add a new one in it's place. By years end I am hoping to be working on ALL Big @$$ Projects, with the exception being my ornaments. So, this year is truly gonna be the year of the BAP for me!! I am super excited to see what I can accomplish!!

Well, I hope everyone's 2014 is starting off great with tons of stitching!

Happy stitching!

Mystic Dragon-Progress

Haven't been stitching a whole lot, but a little. This is what I have accomplished on Mystic Dragon. It seems to stitch up pretty quickly when I do pick it up!

Web of Life and Mystic Dragon Progress update

Well, as I speculated the last time I blogged, I decided to work on both pieces! I just copuldn't help but put about an hours worth of work into my dragon.
But first up is Web of Life:

I worked quite a bit on the pipe and some back stitching and then slid over and actually worked a bit on page 2, over on the right hand side there. I would like to see a finish on page 1 this month, but not sure it will happen, but I'm gonna try!
Next up is this guy:
This is Mystic Dragon, as you can see I filled in more of the light blue, and added some magenta. It's a good thing I am used to stitching on 18 count aida, as it is almost impossible to see where the needle is supposed to go with that dark fabric. So for most of it, I have gone by feel! Which sounds kinda crazy, but it is really coming in handy with this piece! Though I think next time I work on this I will try stitching it with a really bright light/lamp directly on my project and a white surface underneath. I think that will help a bit.  We'll see.

I am still really enjoying these two projects.  I have not been stitching as much as I would like, as I have been in a bit of a funk right now. Some anxieties and other worries going through my mind that just seem to be getting in the way of other things. For one my mom fell last weekend and broke her hip and had to have surgery. And while it doesn't affect me directly as we live a few states away, I am still worried about her and my dad, and call alot to make sure things are ok. Then there are some things on the homefront here that are a bit worrying going on now, which at this time I cannot talk about on a public forum, such as this, but I can later on. So, anyway, just psyching myself up for some recent changes coming up. I've just got alot on my mind and heart right now.

Anyway. Now I am working on The Abbey. Backstitching, and apparently some fill in work that I missed before. Just a few stitches here and there. I'm really not feeling the whole backstitching of this piece. In fact I don't like the way it looks! I can't explain it. It just doesn't look right to me. I feel like it's actually ruining this piece, and it's frustrating me, but I don't know what to do about it, and at this point it is probably too late to do anything about it. When I post it on Sunday maybe you can give me your feedback.

So, anyway. That's about all here. Thank you for reading!

Joyful stitching to you all!!

A finish and two new starts!

So, last week, my black fabric that I ordered finally came in on Friday! And I couldn't resist! That night I started this piece, which has been on my "to stitch" list for a very long time. It is Mystic Dragon 2. And it is in the same Stitchery Magazine issue as is The Web of Life and Snow Valley Express. I don't remember which issue it is, I would have to look it up if anyone is curious as to exactly which one it is. I have looked around for Mystic Dragon 1, and I have seen photos of it online but have not found a place to purchase it. I would love to do it as well. But I think it is out of print. So, I will just try to finish this one. My goal for this one is to finish it by September 20th of 2014. That gives me a year. But, with so many other projects on the go now, I am not sure how that is gonna work out. Maybe after I finish The Abbey. But I was really thinking to fill that spot with one of my new Kustom Krafts pieces. So, lots of thinking and planning will be happening.

This is how it will look when finished. I have loved this piece since I saw it, and it always just seemed like a dream that I would ever actually start it, and now I have!!! It's gonna be sooo pretty when it's finished!
And now for my finish!! Here is my finish on Winter Fun Ornament #3:
Aren't these guys so cute! And love how colorful and bright they are!
And right after I finished them, just this morning, and started right into #4:

I only put one thread into it, which was just a handful of stitches as you can see here, but at least it's a start!

Also on an exciting note, my "Moonlight Bay" Pattern showed up in the mail yesterday!!! Oh! I want to start it sooooo bad!!! But, I shall refrain!!! I really want to finish The Abbey before I start any more truly big ones again. But! I am now the proud owner of FIVE Kustom Krafts patterns! Six if you want to count "Howling at the Moon". Now I just gotta figure out how to finish stitching them in my lifetime. Since I went back to the beginning of The Abbey here on my blog, and I started it 7 years ago! Although mind you, I took quite a few breaks from it, and took one LONG one between 2010 and 2012, where I didn't even touch it in all those two years. So even though I started it 7 years ago it hasn't been 7 years of steady stitching on it. But I am truly hoping for a finish on IT by years end! Good luck to me!! Ok, I'm done rambling now, thank you so much for reading and for all the lovely comments!! I love them all! I need to return the favor! I'm horrible at that. I love reading everyone's blogs. and do religiously, as they pop up on my feedly, but I usually just read and keep going. So, I am gonna try to be better about that!

Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!
