The Paper Variety Week 17 Sketch Challenge

For this challenge at The Paper Variety (click here for their website), I made a layout. Now I'll be honest, I haven't been making many layouts lately, basically because I just prefer making cards. The challenge was to make a card, layout or other paper project using the sketch below:

Here is my layout:

Finished Layout: 12" x 12"

Materials:
Cardstock: Embossed Blue, Teal, Green, Purple, Orange and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Cupcake Wrappers Scallop (Girly) (Button 37 Shift Toppers)
Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo "Best Friends" welded
Cricut Design Studio
EK Success Scallop Circle Punch
EK Success 1 1/4" Circle Punch
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Swiss Dots
Sizzix Embossing Folder Plaid
Mounting Tape

My best friend's name is Trish. We have been friends for, well, over 30 years (geez, it really has been that long, hasn't it?) We have been through just about everything...good and bad, happy and sad, and everything in-between. I don't know what I would do without her. I'm glad that she is in my life.

I hope everyone has a best friend. I think friends are important to have. In addition to Trish, I have several other good friends that I treasure. I really feel that my life is blessed with my friends.

Challenge yourself...whether it is to make a card or a layout or talk to someone new and become a friend...just imagine what you could do.....

Glitter and Packing Tape Card #2

Yesterday I posted two (2) cards and had said that I was going to play around to see if I could find any other images that would work with the packing tape and glitter technique. Well, I did. I found one on Cricut Cartridge Paper Lace that I thought would work. I used Cricut Design Studio in order to make it into a card. Here it is:

and the inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/2" x 5 "

Materials:
Cardstock: Blue and Light Teal
Cricut Cartridge Paper Lace Blossom 2 page 32 (Base)
Cricut Cartridge George and Basic Shapes
Cricut Design Studio
Martha Stewart Glitter Turquoise
Sizzix Embossing Folder Plaid
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Packing Tape
Button

I like the effect of the two different embossing folders. Since I didn't add a sentiment on the front, I figured that I could add one to the inside (depending on what occasion I wanted to use it for).

These are really fun to make. I'm going to play around some more and see what other images that will work. Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think. It's amazing what you can find on your cartridges that you didn't even know was there...I did, now imagine what you could do.....

"Family" Autumn Banner

I had seen a few banner blog hops recently and I was inspired to make one myself. Since I am having Thanksgiving dinner this year, I thought this would be appropriate to have hanging up.

Here are some close-ups of the leaves...
Wow..I just noticed in my photos that my walls look gray; in reality, they are peach...weird. Well anyway, I thought it turned out really nice and now I am so inspired that I will be making one for Christmas.

Finished banner: approximately 3 feet (from end of leaves; with the ribbon on each end, add about another 8" on each side)
Leaves are cut at 6"
Acorns are cut at 1 1/2" for the ones on the ends, and 1" for the ones in the middle

Materials:
Cardstock: Brown (2 shades), Gold, Orange, Mustard, Rust, Red Orange and Yellow Orange (each leaf in "Family" is a different color. The leaves on the ends are the same as the "M" and "A", respectively.
Cricut Cartridge Cupcake Wrappers, Leaf (Layer Toppers, 7th button)
Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter, Acorn page 32 (Accessory Base and Shift)
Cricut Cartridge George and Basic Shapes, "Give" "Thanks"
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Swiss Dots
Sizzix Embossing Folder Plaid (Acorn Tops)
Thin Green Ribbon
3D-Dots

Another thing I noticed AFTER I finished this banner was that I had just bought a tablecloth that had leaves and acorns on it also. Strange how it worked out...lol. I am having 10 people over which should be nice...not too many but not too little. Unfortunately, my husband has to work, so I guess my boys had better help me out. Basically, I am going to try to get as much done beforehand. Going to try NOT to stress. Hahahahahahahaha...well, I'm trying to think that I won't. How about you? When you are entertaining, do you stress out or are you one of the lucky ones that just can relax and have fun. (Boy I envy that). I am better once everything is in place.

More than likely, I am finished with making any fall/Thanksgiving projects. Christmas is on the brain. See you soon. I would love for you to leave a comment. Thanks...and imagine what you could do...

Thanksgiving is just around the corner...wow, and then Christmas. Where did this year go? I feel like it just turned 2010.  I know, I know, we haven't even had Halloween yet..let's not get ahead of ourselves! I guess since I am hosting Thanksgiving this year, it's on my mind. What are your plans this year? Are you going to a relatives? A friend's? Or are you having it? What goodies are you making? We will have the traditional turkey, of course, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, corn, broccoli, maybe cauliflower, cole slaw, rolls and a bunch of desserts, including pumpkin pie. Boy, I just made myself hungry thinking about it. Yummy! Would love to hear what you are making. Just leave a comment.

Guess I'll get back to my crafting space and see what I can come up with...you do the same and just imagine what you could do....

The 3 P's...Papercraft Star Challenge #18, A Purse and Placecards

Papercraft Star is having another challenge...Here are the rules:

Thank You Themed Project
Use Dry Embossing on your project.
Use Cricut Cartridge Cut or Other Die Cut.
Use Metal on your project.
Add anything else you desire

So this is what I came up with:

Finished card: 5" x 5"

Materials:
Cardstock: Brown, Rust, Yellow/Gold, and Patterned Paper
QuicKutz Embossing Folder, Thank You 2" x 2"
Sizzix Embossing Folders, Plaid
Cricut Cartridge Christmas Cards, (Base Card 3rd Button Bottom Row, Layer 3rd Button Top Row)
Brown ribbon
Two Gold Brads
Brown Pigment Ink
3D-Dots

When I used the "Thank you so much" embossing folder, I wanted the words to "pop", so I inked the folder with the brown pigment ink first, then I used my Sizzix machine to emboss.

I picked up the other embossing folder, "Plaid", from AC Moore last night. It's from Sizzix and comes in a 2 folder set. The other folder is "Snowflakes". I really like them as they give a deep embossed look. I also picked up 2 other sets. (Powdered Sugar & Snow Globe Set and Phrases, Merry Christmas #2 & Thin Ice Set). I can't wait to try them...lol.

Here's a picture of two other projects that I just finished...A purse from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut Cartridge with a small card...(the purse is perfect for holding a gift card), and some Placecards for Thanksgiving. I used the turkey from Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed.

Sorry, I couldn't get a good picture of the placecards...they all came out washed out looking. They look much nicer in person.

Hope you enjoyed all the projects and you forgive me for not posting anything for a week. As you can see, I have been busy.

Now you get busy, and imagine what you could do....
