Inspired by Stamping July release: Words of Inspiration 2

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to our Inspired by Stamping July stamps release.
You can see the full release post for today in Inspired by Stamping blog.
Each day we are going to share one of more stamp sets from this release and for some I even made full written tutorials as for this first set that is called Words of Inspiration.
And I thought that art page is the best possible way for showcase this fantastic set that is so great for your Mixed Media adventures.
I made this art piece with Stencilgirl stencils, texture paste and DecoArt paints.
Then I stamped the sentiment and the flowers from the new release set over white tissue paper and glued them over the page with Gel Medium. It's the best way to add stamped imaged over this glossy, textured surface. Use premanent ink (Ranger Archival or other ) and just keep the white tissue you always get with your  fancy outfits shopping wraps.

I hope you like our first two sets from this new release and come back tomorrow for more showcases of new set stamps.
And remember- when you comment on our posts you have a chance to win $20 GC each and every release day!

Queen never gives up: art page

This month of June the Mixed Media Mojo theme is Queen. So I made this art piece as my understanding of a real Queen- the strong one, that never give up.

I used Gelli print board with DecoArt Fluid acrylics and Tando stencils as my base and then used black acrylic with StencilGirl stencil as the main  point of my  art piece.

I invite you to play with our Mixed Media challenge this month and every month and to see if you are your own Mixed Media Queen!

We are the world art page

Hello my dear crafty friends and Happy International Women Day!
As a young girl I , living in a former Soviet Union I loved this day for being maybe the only Holiday without any political propaganda. This was a day with tons of very expensive flowers and  chocolates bought for the women in our lives and I was very sad when I came to Israel and this day was forgotten. Not any more! Today we do celebrate this day here and as my respect to women of the world I made this art page for you all to see.
There are 4 stamped women images on this page. If we go from left  to upper and then to  right and  low one we can see the development of our strength.
First we cry; then we think; then we fight and then we calm down as now we got the power to make changes.
I made this saying that says pretty much everything. Yes, we are the world and we do have power to change it to the better one.

I used Stencilgirl stencils, VLVS stamps and DecoArt products to make the background.
All coloring was made with watercolors and I added some Tattered Angels mist as drops of blood over the page.
So I wish your a very Happy International Women day today and to have the power to change this world to a better one!

Rubber dance January tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Mail art tutorial made for Rubber Dance blog.
This is my second recycled envelope only; I am just on my learning curve, but I think that the result looks fine.
So here is my tutorial and remember to recycle your envelops as thing is good for the Earth and for all of us.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Find a good thick  used envelope and open it from inside. Cover it with a thin layer of gesso (not shown here) and let it dry. Paint over the gesso with a mix of Gel Medium based paints. I used Earth Safe Finishes Iridescents paints here, but any shiny semi translucent paint will work. While your paints are pretty wet wipe  some paint with baby wipe to leave this distressed white space look.

2. Tear a couple of rectangles from the left over paper and glue them as  shown  with repositionable glue. Paint over both rectangles with one of the paints (I used shiny blue one) and add a thin layer of black embossing powder  around the rectangles while your paint is wet.
This step was a bit tricky as you can't add it from the jar if you want it to be only a thin line around the rectangles. So I added it with a tiny spoon part by part.
Heat emboss the powder and peel of the paper pieces (easy to do as we used non permanent glue).

3.Grab your Rubber Dance Envelope stamps and some others- list on the bottom of this post- and using Ranger Archival black ink stamp randomly  and not so randomly over the envelope.  I tried to stamp with a different inks, but it seams that this Archival is the only one that works over this  glossy paint. I tried to stamp with STAZ- ON, pigmented inks and dye inks; bad result or zero result.
After all this stamping I  used a stencil to make some white paint images, such as SECRET word and a few splashes. This was done to add more interest and more depth to this  totally flat, as it should be, piece of art.

See how textured this looks after all!

And this is my finished envelope when closed.

And this is how it looks from the back.

I really love this Mail Art Rubber Dance  stamp set! I will use it again and again. Just for fun. I never send real letters anyone. Who does?

Rubber dance double frame

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new Rubber Dance post. Today I made an altered frame inside the frame using EyeConnect scalloped frames.

I didn't make a full tutorial while making this project, so I am just  going to explain a bit about this Mixed Media piece.
First I  covered the  outer frame with gold embossing powder and I made it like 3-4 times to get the full coverage over the bare  chipboard. Then I added those black and gold mini brads into the holes and it was quite a work to do. But I love the result!
Next I made the background with a lot of Rubber Dance stamps stamped over the grungy, steampunk kind of painted chipboard. I used the chipboard from the frame set and stamped over the painted background with black permanent ink. The white spots are acrylic paint over stencil.
The list of stamps used is on the bottom of this post.
The smaller inner frame was covered with the same gold  embossing and I arranged it with a piece of wire and some brads. I made the word PAST inside the frame to show us what this piece is  all about.  The embellishments cluster are Makin's Clay (air dry polymer clay) molded pieces, painted with a real gold paint and covered with some blue patina.

Art mail tutorial with ESF

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my my new Mixed Media tutorial!
This is my very first mail art project and I just hope I did it right. But then, with Mixed Media there is no right or wrong things; so I hope you do like it and I made a good job.
Here we go!
Step by step tutorial:
1. Take the old envelope and open it as shown. Cover it all with a layer of  ESF gesso and let it dry. Do not try to make the perfect coverage; just a bit is  sufficient for this project.

2. Take a few Iridescents Ann Butler's Clearsnap paints and cover the gesso over with a mix of 3-4 of them. Those paints are Gel Medium based, shiny and very thin ones. Wipe  some paint with baby wipe as shown and let it dry. I initially used Limelight, Sheer Copper and Lagoon, but later I added some more colors over the first layer.

3. Tear a couple of paper rectangles and glue them with non permanent glue on the top right corner and the low left corner (this will be the place for the shipping info). Add a bit of  Tangelo paint around just to wet the edges of those rectangles and add  black embossing powder over the wet edges. Heat emboss the powder.

4. Peel off the paper rectangles and this is what we have now: one layer painted envelope.

5. Grab your favorite VLVS stamps and stamp them over the envelope with black Archival ink.
Actually this ink was the last one I tried over the sample piece. I tried pigmented ink  and it didn't work over the glossy paint. Then I tried solvent ink- BIG NO! Then I tried die inks- different brands- and it was still a mess. The last one left- ARCHIVAL- made the job.

6. As the next step I added a few stencil strokes with white Whipped Cream Chalk It Up ESF paint over the Stencilgirl stencils and added a few more VLVS images to make it look finished. I used stencil with the words with meaning: like SECRET over the front and Inside Out on the back  and not just lovely splashes.

7. Finally, as I didn't like the colors too much, I added a few layers of another colors of the same kind of semi translucent  Ann Butler's  Iridescents paints, more in pinks/blues, such as Lipstick, Orchid  and Ocean Surf  and as you see the images are still seen and the color  looks more interesting.

And this is how the finished envelope looks:
