Special Days...

Van de week weer heerlijk naar de Boekenbeurs in Eindhoven geweest, heb weer een stapeltje leesvoer op de kop getikt voor een prikkie, ik kom de winter wel weer door! Ben een echte klassieke lezer wat dat betreft, je zult mij niet met een e-reader zien, moet er niet aan denken, straks verzinnen ze nog de e-man! Heb vandaag twee totaal verschillende verjaardagskaarten, de één voor de kleine meid van m'n neef en zijn vriendin (ze is - hoe verrassend zeg ;-) 1 jaar geworden) en de ander voor de man van mijn vriendin (hij is een tikkie ouder, houdt o.a. van motor rijden en James Dean):

I went to the Book Fair in Eindhoven last week where I succeeded in purchasing a nice stack of books at bargain prices. I'll survive winter ;-) I'm such a classic reader, you won't see me using an e-reader, no way! Before you know it they'll have invented the e-man, lol! Today I have two totally different birthday cards, one for my cousin's baby girl (she turned 1, ha, now there's a surprise ;-) and the other one for my friend's husband (he's a tad older, loves motorcycles and James Dean):

Heb m'n eigen nummerplaten gemaakt via deze website en de echte fan van James Dean weet vast wel dat hij in 1931 in Indiana is geboren. Het remspoor is gemaakt met een stempel van Scrapberry's.

I made my own license plates at this website and proper James Dean fans probably know that he was born in Indiana in 1931. The skid marks were made with a stamp from Scrapberry's.

Black And White

Zit nu heerlijk te luisteren naar die geweldige CD van Enrique Iglesias, "Sex and Love", zo blij dat die jongen niet op z'n pa lijkt, ha ha ha! Is maar goed dat jullie niet zin hoe ik hier achter m'n laptop zit, want stilzitten is er bij zijn muziek niet bij ;-) Vind muziek een zalige ontspanning na alweer een dag van stevig doorwerken ;-) Eén nadeel van veel werk, je hebt niet zoveel tijd om echt iets supergaafs te maken, vandaag dan ook twee hele simpele kaarten, de één in wit, de ander in het zwart:
I am thoroughly enjoying myself right now, for I'm listening to Enrique Iglesias's amazing album "Sex and Love". So glad the guy doesn't look like his dad, lol! You should see me sitting here behind my laptop, for I simply cannot sit still! Just love listening to music after another day of hard work ;-) One of the disadvantages of having so much work is having very little time to create something really cool. Hence these two super simple cards today, one in white, one in black:

Voor mijn nichtje deze cadeautjes-kaart gemaakt. Ze is 8 geworden en tja, wanneer je opkijkt naar je grote zus van 12, dan wil je natuurlijk wel een beetje een serieuzere kaart en niet zo'n kinderachtig iets, ha ha ha! Had haar gevraagd wat er zeker op moest, nou, een hoop bloemen vond ze wel wat! Dus heb ik het maar 'bloemig' gehouden en heb het leuke, vrolijke papier van de Action gebruikt en één van de Prima Dolls:
I made this present card for my niece. She turned 8 and you know what girls her age are like, so looking up to her big 12-year-old sister. She's not looking for something 'childish' anymore, but wanted something more serious, lol! I asked her what I should put up on her card and she said she would love a bunch of flowers! So I kept it rather flowery and used the lovely, happy papers from the Action (a Dutch chainstore) and one of the Prima Dolls:

En dan heb ik nog meer superleuk nieuws vandaag! Mijn goede vriendin Tracy had me al weken geleden iets voor mijn verjaardag gestuurd en eindelijk was gisteren haar prachtige kaart met supergave goodies aangekomen. Bleek dat de envelop even op wereldreis was, vanuit Amerika eerst naar Thailand en toen naar ons landje ;-)

And I've got some more good news today! My dear friend Tracy had sent me something for my birthday weeks ago and finally her gorgeous card with fab goodies was delivered yesterday. Turns out that Tracy's package was making a small world tour, going from the USA to Thailand and then onwards to our country ;-)

Dan ben ik ook nog eens de gelukkig winnaar van Karin's Candy en heb dit geweldige papierpakket en supermooie kaart gewonnen! Nogmaals heel erg bedankt Karin, vind het helemaal leuk!

Birthday Girl...

Kleine meisjes worden groot... M'n nichtje (de oudste dochter van m'n zus) wordt vandaag alweer 12! En aangezien ik dan écht niet meer met iets zoetsappigs kan aankomen, moest het iets vlotters worden. Het is een echt dametje, houdt van nagellakjes én van shoppen (zal wel in de genen zitten, ha ha ha!), dus die Prima Marketing Doll kwam mooi van pas. Hierop allerlei diverse stansen verwerkt, van Poppystamps, Sizzix en Marianne Design tot aan Joy! Crafts. Nog wat Frantage op de hoekjes voor de finishing touch. Van harte proficiat lieve Gwynn!

Little girls grow up so fast... My niece (my sister's eldest daughter) is turning 12 today! And since I really cannot make a 'childish' card anymore, I needed something more sprucy. She's a regular little lady, loves her nailpolishes and shopping (must be a genetic disorder, lol!), so this Prima Marketing Doll really came in handy. I used all kinds of dies to embellish my card, from Poppystamps, Sizzix, Marianne Design to Joy! Crafts. I also added a bit of frantage to the corners. Happy Birthday to you dearest Gwynn!

A Party Without Cake Is Just A Meeting

Gisteren vierde blogvriendin Anneke haar verjaardag en natuurlijk hoort daar een kaartje bij, nou ja, in dit geval een mini theatertje. Versierd met het schattige papier van de Action, kantje en houten vlindertjes (cadeautje van lief vriendinnetje Odetta). De vlaggenlijn is gemaakt met de stans van Joy!Crafts 6003/0028, de bloem is van Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). Het gave klokje en kant komen uit de webwinkel van Frida (supertip van Odetta ;-) Let op hoor, je wordt er erg hebberig van, heb zojuist weer wat besteld bij haar! De bovenrand is gemaakt met een stans van Spellbinders.

Yesterday blog buddy Anneke was celebrating her birthday and that calls for a card, well, a mini theatre in this case. Adorned with the lovely papers from Action (A Dutch store), lace and wooden butterflies (they were a gift from my sweet friend Odetta). The banner was made with the Joy!Crafts die 6003/0028, flower: Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). The cool clock and lace are from Frida's webstore (fantastic tip from Odetta ;-) Mind you, you'll want to order something straight away, I've just placed another order! The top part was made with Spellbinders:

New Sketch Challenge

Vandaag hebben we bij Vintage Udfordring weer een nieuwe uitdaging voor jullie, een sketch deze keer. Dit is wat ik ervan heb gemaakt, niet erg creatief, ik ben de eerste die het toegeeft, had nét iets teveel aan m'n hoofd, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat jullie vast iets mooiers kunnen maken, doen jullie mee? Het papier, afbeelding en siersteentjes zijn allemaal van Papirdesign.no. Kon het niet nalaten om de man een feestmutsje op te zetten ;-) Geniet van de zondag!

After several vintage creations I felt like making something 'cute' again with several totally new dies. I made my own polka dot papers in Photoshop by creating a polka dot pattern first and then applying the desired colour to my background:

Celebrate your Birthday or Walk the Plank ;-)

Voor manlief die binnenkort jarig is, deze boekrol gemaakt (of ja, misschien toch ook wel een beetje voor mezelf, want zeg nou zelf, zo'n mooie mannen kom je toch niet iedere dag tegen?!?). Hij is gek van de zee, havens en schepen (en ik van Gregory Peck ha ha ha!). Dit is 'm geworden:
I made this scroll for my DH who will be celebrating his birthday in a couple of days (oh well, perhaps a bit for myself as well, you don't come across handsome men like this every day now do you?!?) Hubby loves the sea, harbours and ships (and I'm very partial to Gregory Peck, LOL!). This is how it turned out:

Heb gewoon papier eerst bewerkt met Distress Inkt (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo en Dried Marigold). Hierop met Viva Decor Maritim gestempeld. Het is wel lastig hoor, om die boekrollen droog te houden op zee, die zilte druppels vliegen je op het dek soms om de oren ;-) (gewoon met de hand wat waterdruppels geknoeid, beetje Perfect Pearls erin voor de glans). Heb het oorspronkelijke blauwe roer een beetje goud gemaakt met embossing poeder, niet teveel, wou het blauw er nog doorheen laten komen:
I first applied Distress Ink to plain paper (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Dried Marigold). Stamps are from Viva Decor (Maritim). It's quite tricky you know, to keep those scrolls dry at sea with all this dripping saltwater onto the deck ;-) (just flick some water drips from your fingers, I first added some Perfect Pearls to add some shine). I added some gold embossing powder to the originally blue rudder, not too much, since I wanted bits of blue to remain there:

Touw en muntjes (oké, ze kloppen niet helemaal qua tijd, maar het waren zulke leuke muntjes ;-)
Rope and coins (I know, they're historically wrong, but hey, I simply liked them ;-)

Have A Rascal Birthday!!

Vandaag viert vriendinnetje Wendy haar verjaardag! En natuurlijk hoort daar een kaartje bij. Kennen jullie The Little Rascals nog van vroeger? Ook bekend als "Our Gang"? Zulke grappige filmpjes werden er over die boefjes gemaakt, vind het nog steeds leuk om na te kijken! Blijf kennelijk toch nog even in de jaren '20 hangen na Minnie The Moo-cher ;-) Op mijn slider-easelcard zo'n kleine boef (een verkleed jongetje trouwens ;-)
My sweet friend Wendy is celebrating her birthday today! And no birthday is complete without a card. Are you familiar with The Little Rascals? Also known as "Our Gang"? Oh, the comedy short films about this group of little rascals are hilarious! I still love watching them! After Minnie The Moo-cher it seems you have to remain in the Roaring Twenties with me for a while ;-) Don't you just love this little rascal? Who, by the way, is a boy dressed up ;-)

Van konijntjes naar een katje, als 't maar knuffelt ;-) Gisteren is de nieuwe uitdaging #73 bij Vintage Udfordring weer van start gegaan, een heel gemakkelijk en leuk thema deze keer: gebruik stanzen en/of ponsen. Mijn bijdrage is deze kaart die ik naar mijn jarige vriendinnetje Ros heb gestuurd. De afbeelding heb ik gevonden op Pinterest.

Happy Bunny House

Hebben jullie al meegedaan met de Blog Blitz van Poppystamps? Eén van de nieuwe stanzen winnen is natuurlijk toch wel heeeeeel erg leuk, toch? Wanneer jullie op ons Poppystamps blog een reactie op mijn kaart achter laten, maken jullie kans om die schattige konijnenstansjes te winnen. Ik heb ze gebruikt op mijn stair step kaart, ben nu eenmaal wég van konijntjes. Toen ik jong was (oef, da's al efkes geleden), tekende ik altijd van dit soort schoenhuisjes en het leek me wel grappig om mijn konijntjes daarin te laten spelen en wonen ;-)

Oh, soms kunnen zo toch zo stout zijn hè? Nog zo goed gezegd dat hij niet op de ladder mocht klimmen, tja, toch doen, lekker eigenwijs ;-) De ladder is gemaakt door de filmstrip 2 x uit te snijden en op elkaar te plakken. De twee andere konijntjes spelen op de wip samen (gemaakt van een ijsco-stokje):

Oh, they can be so naughty from time to time, can't they? His mother told him not to climb that ladder, now look at him topple over ;-) I made the ladder by cutting the filmstrip twice and gluing them together. The other two little bunnies are playing on a seesaw (made of a popsicle stick):

Happy New Year!!!

Ik wens jullie allemaal een heel goed, gezond, vrolijk en creatief 2014 toe! Bedankt voor jullie mooie kerstkaarten, hopelijk hebben jullie de mijne ook goed ontvangen? Hebben jullie de Kerst en Oud en Nieuw gezellig doorgebracht? Wij hebben een heerlijke week achter de rug, goed gevierd, nog een paar dagen bij mijn tantes doorgebracht, die konden ook wel wat hulp gebruiken en nu komen we langzamerhand weer in een normaal ritme. Kom dan ook zo gauw mogelijk weer op jullie blogs langs hoor! Ik ben een dag te laat met het plaatsen van de nieuwe challenge-kaart op het Vintage Udfordring blog... pffff... moest ff bijkomen hoor, voordat tegenwoordig m'n gezicht weer in de plooi zit, m'n energie weer een beetje op peil is, nou, dan ben ik volgens mij een week verder! (en dan ben ik óók nog eens de Tempo-fabriek enorm aan het sponsoren, jemig, wat kan een mens toch veel s..t in z'n hoofd hebben zeg ;-) Komt goed! A Tale of Two Cards

Vanmorgen was het nog niet zo warm buiten, dus ben ik lekker m'n hobbyhokje ingekropen en heb deze twee kaarten gemaakt, de één is voor m'n zus die morgen jarig is, de ander voor een goede blogvriendin van me die een operatie moet ondergaan. En daarna heerlijk van het zonnetje genoten buiten, dat doet een mens goed hè? Heb m'n boek uit, kan nu gaan beginnen aan de nieuwste van Dan Brown, "Inferno", ben benieuwd! Nog wat seringentakken geplukt en in de vaas gezet op de terrastafel, ruikt zo lekker! En waar hebben jullie je mee bezig gehouden vandaag? Morgen nog een dagje vrij, is toch een cadeautje?

Although the sun was shining already this morning, it was still too cold so I crept into my hobby den and made these two cards, one is for my sister, who will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, the other for a dear blog buddy of mine who has to undergo surgery.  And in the afternoon I really enjoyed the sun outdoors, oh, we really needed that, didn't we? I was able to finish my book and I've got the next one ready, Dan Brown's "Inferno", can't wait! Picked a couple of lilac branches and put them in a vase, they look absolutely wonderful on the garden table and smell even better! And what kept you girls busy today? Tomorrow we have another day off, isn't that a gift?
