Some sea monsters captured from the margins of medieval and early modern maps. The last image brings "The Quest for Blank Claveringi" by Patricia Highsmith to mind, a short story that has always haunted me for being particularly terrifying with a subject matter not usually considered scary.

Although Dr. Doolittle presents the Great Glass Sea Snail as friendly enough
And quite the pleasant way to travel. In the 1967 film, Dolittle resigns himself to living abroad for the rest of his life due to the price on his head issued by General Bellowes. The [renamed] Great Pink Sea Snail takes Matthew, Tommy, Emma and a host of small animals from the [renamed] Sea Star Island back to England.
