Sketch Time ;)
Hey scrappers! Pam here sharing a brand new sketch that I created for Chickaniddy crafts! I think this works really well with the new paper collection called Date Night. Let's see the sketch!
Here is my take on the sketch. I took the "use it" approach the sketch. If you hop on over to the Chickaniddy blog, you will see two more takes on the sketch!
I hope you have a great day!!

Sharing a Sketch
Cindy here! The contributors at Ideas for Scrapbookers had such a great time working with Pam's sketch two weeks ago that we're at it again! This time, I designed the sketch.
As you can see, I made a Then & Now layout featuring photos of my son next to our stuffed snowman in 2009 and again in 2013. What a difference four years makes!
Check out the amazing creations the rest of the designers made from my sketch. I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful pages each person sent me. You're going to love them too.
First up is Cathy. By coincidence, she also did a Then & Now page featuring her sons! She followed the sketch closely, but by rotating it 90 degrees she was able to make it work beautifully with horizontal photos. I love her use of pattern and color.
Here is Tanya's page. Tanya almost always scraps two-page layouts, so I was eager to see what she would do with this sketch. I love that she turned the two vertical photos on the sketch into one horizontal picture. She also changed the 12x12 sketch into an 8.5x11 layout. I love the happy colors and patterns she used, as well as how much journaling she fit in!
I actually made the sketch by working backwards from this layout:

Next is Gael. She followed the sketch almost exactly, so it is amazing how different her layout is from mine! The page is so feminine and beautiful and suits her photos perfectly.
Next, here is Sharon's layout. Like Tanya, Sharon used one photo instead of two like in the sketch, but she chose to split the photo to add visual interest. The whole layout is so powerful. Each time I look at it, I see new things to love.
Finally, here is Lesley's two-page version of my sketch.
If you look closely, you'll notice that each half of the two-page layout follows the sketch! Here's the left side. It uses the sketch as is.
For the right side, Lesley rotated the sketch 90 degrees, but still used two vertical photos. She used the same die-cut on each side (horizontal on the left and vertical on the right) to tie the two sides together. I love that she created two different (yet totally cohesive) pages from the same sketch.
So there you have it... six artists' interpretations of the same sketch. If you use the sketch, please let us know! We'd love to feature your work.

Ready for a NEW Sketch?
Hi all. Pam with you today sharing a new sketch and a few takes of it. I am totally BLOWN AWAY by the pages that the contributors created for the sketch. Each of their takes on sketch are so different and really inspire to me create new pages! First let me share with you the sketch! It is pretty simple with three photos and a few extra embellishments to accent the page.
Lesley is up first with a breathtaking layout using the sketch. This has to be my all time favorite layout by Lesley. I just adore everything about it from the sweet film strips of her granddaughter to the accents of pink, blue and cream. This could not be any sweeter! You can see she stuck to the original sketch except added photos and paper to the middle strip. Amazing!
Gael's page is up next! Her page is one word: strikingly beautiful. There are many things to notice and love about this page such as the collage of embellishments on the top and the unique color scheme which matches the photo to a T! For her take on the sketch she kept the original design, but took away the top photos and added embellishments instead. I couldn't imagine this photo scrapped better!
Cindy is up next with her page! Again, this is probably my new favorite page by Cindy! I just love how she documented so many things in this page having to with their life. The photo coming off the side just looks great and I love the border of pink around the photo blocks. Her style is so clean it all comes together so well. You will notice she flipped the sketch to the right 90 degrees, added two more photos, and adjusted the embellishments to work for her page! :)
Sharon created our last page today. Again I am totally wowed! The colors, patterns and design work are designed so well I just can't stop staring at the details like the vintage photos, bright pops of colors, and the beautiful die cut title. I just love how she made it her own!! Looking at her page compared the sketch, you will notice she flipped this 180 degrees. She has her one big photo on the bottom accented by the other photos (she used three). The three photos on the top really bring your eyes downward to that great castle photo. Love this!
Whatcha think? Do you like these as much as me :D . If you use the sketch and want to share with the readers here, please send it to me at scrappingpam73@yahoo.com .

Layout, Sketch, and Die Cut File
Hello all!! Pam here with a page, sketch and a free digital cut file. As you may or may not know, I am now the Project Coordinator for Chickaniddy Crafts. You can read about it here. I just love their new collections! Have you seen them yet? One is called Date Night and the other is Twirly Girly. I linked it to the full collections but giveaways are over. :) They are fresh colors and designs to inspire you and your pages!!
I created this page with the gorgeous collection Twirly Girly. I was so inspired by all of the soft colors and get patterns it was easy to create!I just love all of the pinks, soft yellow, oranges and greens!
Here is a sketch of the layout in case you want to use it!
I am also giving away this digital JPEG file for you to use in your die cut machine if you like. I am not sure the format in which I should be giving it as I haven't done it before. I know you can change JPEG to a Silhouette file in the program itself. PLEASE let me know if there is an easier way to give this to you, just click and save. I know there are video on how to change it into the usable format.
Have a great day!!

Creating a layout using a color scheme and sketch!
Good Morning everyone! TGIF! Sharon here to share with you an easy way to make a great scrapbook page. I have found that using sketches really helps me with my creativity and is a great source of inspiration. There are so many wonderful sketches just waiting for you to check them out! I know you can find awesome sketches and templates right here at Ideas for Scrapbookers by clicking on the sidebar under "LINKS TO PAM'S SPECIFIC TEMPLATES." Pam's templates/sketches are really cool and so easy to use!
But today, I would like to share a sketch and color scheme from a different source, a challenge blog. There are lots of them out there, and here is just one that has lots of inspiration: Color Me Scrappy. They have a challenge going on right now using the following color scheme:
I loved the sketch and used it to make the following layout:
I used bricks instead of stitching for my border, and burlap to frame my photos. As you can see, you can use the sketch as loosely or specifically as you like. Check out the Color Me Scrappy blog to see what others have done with this sketch and color palette!
P.S. You can use your creations as gifts, too. I gave this layout to my sister for her birthday on September 30th!

New Blocked Template to share!
Hi! Dolores here today to share a fun blocked template with you. This one is versatile and can handle several pictures if you have a theme you want to cover. Here is my sketch.
I have made a couple of layouts using this template and just changed elements around when I wanted a different look. Here is my layout that pretty much follows the sketch above.
I am so fortunate to have enough space in my yard for a nice flower garden so I decided to put some of my favorites in this blocked layout. I've got six photos here and a few flower elements added to make my title more interesting. Below is another example of this template, this time I went another direction, I have a theme but it wasn't about the pictures.
Here my page was a love theme, so I used all kinds of hearts to fill my blocks and only had one picture that I put in a heart mask. As you can see there are all kinds of possibilities.
If you would like the template you can download it from the link below. The file contains PSD, TIF and PNG files. Hope you enjoy it!

A Diamond Template to share!
Hi, Dolores here today to share a template and sketch with you. I participated recently in a challenge where we were asked to take our inspiration from an advertisement that contained several geometric shapes. After thinking about the ad and its flow of shapes I decided to create a layout with diamond shapes. Here is my sketch.
I created a layout for the challenge using a beautiful kit by Stolen Moments and Forever Joy called Petticoat Rose. Here is my page.
I love these pretty muted colors and how they blended together on the page. If you would like the template you can download it from the link below. The download file contains PSD, TIF and PNG files. Hope you enjoy it!

Sketching with the Silhouette
Hey everyone, Cathy here today to share a wonderful thing that you can do with your Silhouette machine. This works on both the Cameo and the Portrait. It's not just for cutting! You can draw with it too!
I've only started to use the sketch feature on my Cameo and I have instantly fallen in love! I've been using it to write sentiments on cards, but titles and journaling on scrapbook pages, and to create designs for cards too, You can do so much more with it, I've only scratched the surface.
To use the sketch feature on the machine, you'll need to have either some Silhouette sketch pens or have an adapter to hold your pen or marker.
I bought the Amy Chomas Adjustable Marker Holder to use with my Cameo. It's quite easy to use. You remove your blade from the Silhouette machine, and replace it with the holder. You place a Popsicle stick (provided when you purchase the holder) underneath, insert your pen in the holder with tip touching the Popsicle stick and tighten.
I've tried a few different pens and markers in it. One of my favorites is the Staedtler Triplus Fineliner. These pens are photo safe, dry-safe (they can be left uncapped for days without drying up) and best of all, they are fine point! I'm kind of a freak for fine point writing implements! Plus you can get them in various colors. I found my 10 pack at Staples.
So now that we've got the tools, let's use them to create a card. Open up the Silhouette Software and create a card base. I'm using a shape from the Silhouette online store called "cut out flower card". Choose the text tool, your font and size and type your sentiment. Position it where you want it to print on your card. I used a font called Lavenderia. For a great list of thin fonts that work well with the sketch feature, check out this post by Gigi at One Day at a Time.
After you have your text where you want it, open the cut style window (little scissors). Select all but the text and click "no cut". This way the only thing that is set to be "cut" is the text. Don't worry, we're not going to "cut" it. But the machine doesn't know that!
Now set up your Silhouette Sketch Pen or holder and pen in place of the blade.
Here is a close up of the pen tip resting on the Popsicle stick:
Put your cardstock on a cutting mat and load it in the machine. Open the cut settings window and select Silhouette Sketch pen. Then send it to the cutter by pressing "cut".
Watch as your machine sketches out your sentiment (above)!!
Don't unload your met. In the Silhouette software, open the cut style window again (little scissors). This time set the text to "no cut" and all other items to "cut". Go to the cut setting window and this time set it to the appropriate paper weight (in my case "cardstock"). Remove the sketch pen or holder and pen from the machine and replace with the blade. Now send the design to the cutter to cut out the card base.
Finish up cutting all of your pieces and assemble your card.
Now when you don't have just the right sentiment stamp. you can sketch the sentiment instead!
Spend sometime visiting Amy Chomas' blog. She shares lots of inspiration and ideas for creating projects using the sketch feature on the Silhouette machines. She also has tutorials and videos to help you be even more creative.
Did you happen to notice the engraving tip in her shop? I love working with metal, so this is definitely going on my wishlist!

A New Zig Zag Template!
Hi! Dolores here today to share a new template. This one I put together with some big zig zag shapes that create an interesting background for your layout. My sketch today features a single photo and I choose a wintry scene since we just had a snow storm come through my area. Here is my sketch.
Below is my layout I created using the template. I used a beautiful kit called "Once upon a Christmas:Caroling" by Kristin Cronin-Barrow and I love the frosty look it gave my page.
You can download the Photoshop template at the file sharing site below. Hope you enjoy it!
