Hanging Onto Sweet Summertime…

Yes, some of us late bloomers (otherwise known as, slow-pokes) are in denial of autumn.  Still hanging on to the sweet summertime.  Here is my last Summertime review of items for Artbeads.com. I know, I know, it is officially fall, but just work with me here!
The Glass Beads section is packed full of beautiful beads!  I never really thought I would care for these in the past, but in my hand they are so happy!  And I love happy! The hand blown furnace glass beads in tropical colors are fabulous for spring, summer, vacation in the islands, or any other time! From my bead stash I added Venetian Glass Silver Foil Cubes, and created a swingy little charm bracelet with bunches of sterling silver.

This pretty little item was auctioned at a benefit for a beautiful 13 year old girl who has been doing battle with a brain tumor for many months.  Many blessings to Kelli Parker and her family! Many thanks Artbeads.com!

My Second Summertime Item Review…

Artbeads.com sent me beautiful coin shape glass beads in yellow and white. They have wonderful little peacock spots on them. I love these! They are a little smaller than I expected (now where is my ruler? :o) ) so I did not make the bracelet I had planned. However, earrings developed and they’re so HAPPY, they make me want to dance! Artbeads.com has tons of beautiful glass beads, so check them out!

I also received these cool Bamboo beads in ..you guessed it! Yellow! I’m on a roll here… They are so interesting, with a little band of dichroic around the middle. The hole, which you may be able to tell in the photo, is an eensy bit bigger than I expected…(ruler, again) so my intended purpose did not work out. They are really awesome and come in lots of beautiful colors. I wonder how I will use these?

Well, I hope you guys like the earrings, but I’m not finished yet! I have one more item to show off, soon!!

The good old summertime…

It’s been a very hot summer in Texas, and we’ve been very busy settling back into our home. We still have a long way to go, but I have neglected my blog so long, I decided this update needed to happen NOW! Things never seem to go as planned, so sometimes I just have to readjust priorities.

I have several items from Artbeads.com to review. The first is a diamond shaped Murano glass pendant. It’s so pretty and cheerful, I can imagine it with a great little sundress! It is full of little flowers, so I decided not to compete with them. I made a simple bail of several kinds and colors of seed beads. I think it will be lovely and feminine on a hand-dyed silk ribbon, either black or yellow, or BOTH! It would also look great on a thick round leather cord. This pendant will move right on in to fall, and will really pop with a black sweater!

Well, there we have the first item of my review. I’m late, but don’t give up on me yet! I have a couple of more items to show off! I’ll be back…

The Beauty of Spring…

…is the current theme for the Artbeads bloggers. Very good for me, because Spring is my favorite time of the year. If I were at home in Texas, I’m sure I would be pruning, digging, planting, and enjoying the birds and new growth of my garden. But, here I am in Florida at my “home-away-from-home”. In the Keys this time of the year, thoughts turn to the beach, water sports, tall frosty drinks, palm trees and sea creatures. So, here is my creation using items sent to me for review by Artbeads.com:

I first saw similar porcelain beads in Beadwork magazine, and really wanted to check them out further. But then, along came this fabulous porcelain shell bead at Artbeads! My favorite bead place! How could I resist?? No need! And it truly is as beautiful in person as in the picture. The porcelain shell bead is suspended by a peyote woven bail, and ends with a Hill Tribe bead cap (with shell design, of course!) and a Swarovski coral pearl. The S-clasp is a Hill Tribe Silver Starfish. The necklace is a spiral seed bead rope of various colors found in the pendant, mainly blues and greens.

Since I did not use all the bead caps I received for the necklace, I used them for a springy little pair of earrings, and I must say, they are pretty sweet!
