Beauty is not just for adults..

At such a tender age, my 15 months old darling daughter sure knows a thing or two about beauty. She loves to see us putting on make-up. Every time she sees my sister blowing her hair, she will run to her, asking for her hair to be done, even if it's just for a mere 5 seconds. Every time she gets hold of a make up brush, she will brush it all over her face. Not mentioning the comb, she loves to just brush and brush herself with it.

Having a son as a firstborn and also many more nephews in the family, having Maine is sure a different experience altogether. She's like a little me, I'd love to think that I was as cute as her when I was little. She's such an angel, adored by everyone. I'm glad that she'll have a few cousin sisters to play with in the future, at least she will not be surrounded by boys and their cars and guns, but to have play mates to join her in her tea party, princess sleepover and more. Perhaps to attend Regency Beauty Institute together in the future, if that's what she's interested in pursuing.

Baby hair accessories for sale..

I've been busy making bows and baby hair accessories for sale. Hopefully I'll be able to post it up for sale somewhere next week. I'm still waiting for my accessories tag card to arrive. I've sent it for printing somewhere last week and with some glitch here and there, it's not ready yet.
Hopefully the design looks nice on print. Can't wait to see it myself.

My baby girl- a rose among the thorns

Call me lucky, I have a boy and a girl. Proud to say that my princess is the first girl born into this generation, after 10 boys amongst my siblings. I am so blessed! Just like a rose among the thorns, my baby girl is always surrounded by a group of lovely cousin boys, and always playing with the guns and trucks the boys has around the house. Should I be worried that she's going to grow up like a tomboy? Erm, I'm not worried at all. I believe as she grows older, she will be fond of girly things.

She's a very lucky girl, even though she's only one, she already has tonnes of hair accessories, dresses she got as gifts from friends and relatives. I even bought barbie dolls for her way before she was born, but she's too young for it. Once she's over two years old, I think she will love playing dres up with those dolls. You know, maybe practice her fashion sense and skills on a doll, who knows she'll grow up wanting to be a fashion designer or even a make up artist. Maybe then we can enroll her in the Regency Beauty Institute. Well, it's never to early for mommy to dream, isn't it?

If I'm filthy rich..

..then most probably I'll spend my wealth of gold accessories. Which girl gets enough of accessories? Hair accessories, bracelet, anklet, pendant, bangles, necklaces, rings, earring, the list goes on and on. I mean, gold can be quite pricey, but then looking back 10 years back when gold was only 30 bucks per gram, I wished I bought tonnes of it. The price of gold has never dropped, in fact it has risen over the years to over 120 bucks per gram. That's a superbly fast and amazing increase, nothing comes close to such high values, not even the gases. Oh, if only I knew.

I mean, how fun would it be to be able to have many gold accessories, wearing it out, dolling up with different accessories, and knowing that the value of every piece of gold will only gets higher? That's a superb investment isn't it? Maybe I should start of by asking hubby for a gold accessory every birthday and every anniversary. It's never too late to start investing in gold I guess. Or we could start to buy gold coins for his birthday too.

Super cute hairclip for babies

Oh, ain't these cute? Or super cute maybe? I came across these baby clips on the Internet, on a handmade stuffs website. Clips
are normally sold in a pack of 3, or per clip and not pet set. I mean won't it be better if it comes in a pair? Then I'm sure it'll look super cute to clip it on babies with two ponytails. Well, maybe that's the sales gimmick. It comes in a set on 3 different clips, so if you want it in pair, then you got to purchase 2 sets of it. Ain't these people clevever in making money? I think so!

All things pretty

One thing about me is that I'm a big time procrastinator. I always have this big ideas of how I want to run an online store selling women's accessories, designer costume jewelry, clothings or all things pretty. But there's always this tiny voice inside me that keeps telling me that I might not succeed doing it. There's this question of what if it's not good enough, what if nobody likes my stuff and a thousand others what if. As a matter of fact, I registed a domain way back in 2007 hoping that someday I'll have the courage to run an online store but too sad that didn't happened. Why? Because I just don't know where to start. Poor me.

My cousin sister runs an online boutique and I must say that she's doing very well. I'm sure she hesistated too in the beginning, but after seeing that she has achieved significant good results and good customers feedback, she must sure feel good about herself now. Maybe it's time for me to stop procrastinating too, and really put my mind to it. You go girl!

Hello there 2009!

Yeah-hoooooo 2009 is here. Every time the clock strikes 12 on a New Year, I can feel this excitement in me that this year will be better. Perhaps thats what everyone feels, or it is just me? I don't know. But one thing for sure, a new year means we're all getting a little older too, right? Hopefully all of us gets a little wiser and bolder.

At midnight, all of us walked out to the roadside to see the fireworks display. It was really a pretty sight, the fireworks are just amazing. But too bad, Shern being the scary cat, clinged on to me like a koala bear, refused to let go and peek the fireworks once in a while. At four years of age as of 2009, I thought he'll be a little bolder, but I guess we all have to wait.

As always, on the first day of new year, all shopping complexes will be packed to the max, so I doubt we'll be going anywhere near a mall tomorrow. I hate to go shopping when it's too crowded, like I'm claustrophobic or something. Nevermind the big sale is going on, the mega discount on the designer costume jewelry. I'm just not going shopping tomorrow. Period. Maybe we'll just bring the kids swimming, I'm sure they'll love it there much more than the shopping malls.

Happy New Year!

Every little girl's dream

It is every girls dream to grow up to be a princess, with the diamond tiaras, jewelery, nice puffy dresses and all. But that dream hardly comes true. In real life, a princess life is not so magical after all. They are subject to constant scruteneering by the public eye, and has certain standards and obligations that they must adhere too, they might not be able to go shopping like us, without their bodyguards tagging along 3 feet behind them. So consider yourself blessed if you're just a normal citizen like me, we might not have as many pearl necklaces, but otherwise, we're perfectly happy, aren't we?

It is understable to hear a 5 year old little girl address herself as a princess, even my 3 year old cousin thinks that she's Cinderella, everything she owns has a picture of Cinderella or Snow White on it, be it a pencil case, her school bag, her dresses, even her pyjamas. And worse, she insists that her mother buys her a fake Chocolate Diamonds tiara and a magic wand. My oh my! Kids like that sure got too much influence by watching cartoon. Nevermind about that, they are just kids right. But what I don't get is, why some parents did the extreme by naming their baby girl 'princess'. Come on, think about it for a minute, when she's one or three, if might look totally cute to be called a princess, what about when she's in her thirties or forties, calling someone a princess will just sound so silly, like hey "Princess Tan". Big Eww. I will never ever name my daughter 'Princess'. That is just so lame! Enough said for now, I'm still hoping that one day, I'll have my own daughters,

Secret to having flawless complexion

What's the secret of having flawless, absolutely beautiful complexion? Well, now you're taking advise from a person who skin is not that flawless afterall. But I truly believe that by using proper natural skin care and drinking lots of water helps.

I wish I can be more like my mom when it comes to having the discipline to take care of myself. At 54 she still has the most radiant face than anyone her age. Everyday, she'll religiously go for a jog in the morning, apply anti aging products on her face without fail everyday. She just never missed a facial routine. But still, the most important thing is to make sure that the product you apply on your face is organic cosmetics, like those from Lavere.

My Marc Jacobs

A wonderful friend bought me this gorgeous neckless from Marc Jacobs. I don't remember a time when she came back here to Malaysia without a gift for me and my little son. The last time she came back, she bought a converse shoe with lots of Gap. Inc clothings for Shern, and a balenciaga coin purse for me.

Thank you so much, my dear friend.

A talent i don't have

When it comes to make up, the only thing I'm good at is putting on pink blusher on my cheeks and applying mascara to my eyelashes. I envied those who can make themselves look so pretty and yet so natural. These are the gifted ones, with such amazing talent for make up. Especially for those who attended beauty schools to learn the art of putting on the perfect make up.

Sad to say, some people are just born with bad pale skin with acnes and they need a lot of concealer and compact powder to cover up the flaw but some are just bad at doing the job. It makes them looks horrible, like those woman from the chinese opera. Oh, scary.

My aunt gave me a tub of cle de peau, a very expensive foundation make up but up to now, it still sit untouched on my dressing table, because I don't dare to use it. The one thing I didn't want to do is to scare my kiddo away, with a horrible face.

down the aisle dangling with gold accessories

the one thing that we chinese cannot do without in a wedding ceremony is presenting the bride with gold accessories. especially for the bride's parents, buying gold accessories for their daughter has become a tradition for decades. it somehow portrays that the brides family is wealthy enough to present gold as gift and thus, they earned the respect from the bridegrooms family member. especially in the case where the bride is married into a wealthy and well-known family.
for decades, gold remains as the main valuable gift, though the idea of earning respect through these gold-gifts has long been abandoned. in fact, these precious items then became the family keepsake that is passed from generation to generation, with some dated back to great great-grandparents wedding gifts. now gold fetch a very high price in the market, soaring record breaking price, those with lots of gold can guarantee a good selling price now.

my mom is just one of the many traditional chinese woman who treasures her wedding gold, she will never sell it away no matter how. she even mentioned to us that she would like her wedding gold to be in the family keepsake and not to be trade-away. with something that holds such significant history, mom's gold accessories is sure going to be in our family for a very long time.

joining beauty classes

sometimes when you have a very important function to attend and you want to look your best, how you wished you can apply on a proper make-up? i always wished so. applying too much of make up makes you ended up looking like a chinese opera lady, too little of it didn't enough to cover up your acnes and huge pores. you don't want to look all too puffed up as if you just wore a mask.
going to a cosmetology school can improve your make up applying skills. sometimes it's not that we don't know how to do it, we just cannot figure out the right amount of make-up to use. if i have the time and the money, i would love to enroll for a beauty class. Not only i can learn to make-up, i get to learn the proper skincare regime, face facial and how to maintain a youthful and beautiful apprearance at all times.
