Altered Mirror

This was supposed to be for the Object D'Art challenge but I missed the deadline

I altered this mirror which I'd got from Ikea a while ago taking inspiration from Glenda and Lynn who designed one in the October 08 issue of Craft Stamper. The project has taken me a few days to do but I'm pleased with the result.

I started by preparing my mirror by sanding it and putting on 2 coats of black gesso.

My stompboard was inked with Adirondack and stamped using various stamps with stazon. I did lots of etching on most pieces adding more ink with cutndry pen nibs. I went round the edge of all the pieces with Gold Krylon and to finish off the piece added various charms

Lotstodo Challenge - Black and White

I altered a CD for this weeks challenge on Lotstodo. I first covered it with white gesso and then when dry covered it with black gesso quite thickly - when that was dry I scratched it so that some of the white would show through. I stamped my image (Crafty Individuals) with black stazon and attached that. My number seven was made with black utee melted in my melt post and poured in to mould. I then added my flower which I had surrounded with vileda with a brad - I painted the brad 'cos I didn't nave a black one!!!. I finished off by using my cropodile to punch a hole and put an eyelet in to thread the ribbon through.

Sunday Stamper - Silver

I chamferred the edges of my mountboard so that I could cover them with versamark and heat emboss using silver powder. I think it frames the image (Great Impressions)nicely. I stamped the image and heat embossed it and to finish off I added a couple of teardrop beads

Sam came to play!!!!

My friend Sam has been to play today!!!!! We had a brilliant day - thanks Sam for taking the 300 mile round trip to visit with me and bringing your huge talent with you along with a fantastic gift that I'll treasure.

These are some of the things we did.

Made the mold with playdoh and an old brooch - then poured utee in from melt pot - finished off by adding a bit of perfect pearls.

Stamped image on to wood and using Sams fancy new machine (I NEED one) burnt in to the wood around the image then made a fancy border - finished off by coating with ageing varnish and a bit of gold leaf.

Ages since I had my encaustic art out so took the opportunity to give it an airing today.

We had a wonderful day and hope to do it again sometime soon

Saturday Workout - Backgrounds

I used one of my favourite backgrounds - caught in chrystal - to create my 4 x 4 - the image was printed on to Safmat, framed with Tim Holtz fragment and attached with a long brad which I coloured with alcohol inks. The edging was done with memory tape put through a cuttlebug folder and the wording was preprinted on to domino tiles which I again coloured with alcohol ink.

There is a tutorial for the Caught in Chrystal technique on the Technique Zone

Sunday Stamper - Birdie

I used the stamp designed by my friend Hels Sheridan which was the cover stamp on the May issue of Craft Stamper to create my atc. Other Stitchels stamps are available from The Artistic Stamper

made this card for my brother in law who turns 65 later this month. I used cuttlebug embossing folder on metal to create my centre piece which I then inked with alcohol inks and sanded

Lotstodo Challenge - ART

I made this canvas for a swap on the Lotstodo Forum being organised by Andrea. My partner - Catsmum (Ju) - has now received it so I'm able to enter it in the Lotstodo Challenge where the theme this week is ART - I used dabbers for my background - stamped my images and text on to tissue with stazon and then added them with mod podge. My grungeboard letters were coloured with the same colour stazon

Bottle tops

I've created these for a swap on the Lotstodo forum being hosted by Sue. I've flattened my tops and used alcohol inks round the edges I then inserted my images and covered them with diamond glaze
