treasure life

Well poor Oliver, we spent James' birthday last month at casualty after James hit his head and then spent last night , Oliver's birthday at the emergency doctors appointment  for James! I tell you what a way to spend your birthdays!! No wonder I look tired!! still keeps me on my toes!

Well in my first stepXstep over at Frilly and Funkie here , I made some flowers from ranger foil sheets and coloured them in two ways and made them in two different styles. So today I thought I would share the two pieces I made using flowers coloured with alcohol inks .
For all the details of how to make the flowers make sure you pop across here.
So here is my first piece :

For this piece I started with a round arts part piece and put texture paste through this great stencil, then when dry painted, scuffed , inked and highlighted with treasure gold.

I cut the dress form and randomly inked with embossing dabber, as this allows for places to be left un-inked. I sprinkled various distress embossing powders on and heated , then added walnut stain ink to the un embossed areas (warning: as the distress emboss powders are course they will slightly scuff up your pad on your blending tool, so you could use a piece of cut and dry foam instead).

The wings, well you now me and wings! They were covered with ferro texture paste in a random-ish manner, then highlighted with treasure gold.

The flower, all details of that are here.

And some rusty wire and some chit chat stickers complete the make!

I got carried away and made this tag too:

The flower is the same as above and I have added idea-ology, an embossed dress form. For the wings I added this fab rusty wire net from The funkie junkie boutique and have listed all the supplies for the flowers ( both styles ) below too.

I will be back later in the week with the softer flower make..

Thanks to everyone who is taking the time to stop by and also leave such lovely comments! They are very much appreciated,x

playing with rust!..again...

well here is a rusty tag,
i made using techniques from the great online timeworn workshop by Andy Skinner.
despite not having time to do as much as i would have liked.
.this has been a great painty experience!
so the challenge over at Simon says is rust, so here is mine:

i loved the rust technique here on the heart and have played with it a lot,
this tag was made a while ago
but  think fits the challenge..

i added my fav wings , covered on old book paper
and inked,
some garden wire cut to size..

flowers made and coloured in rusty tones with alcohol inks

the sentiment was cut and coloured in alcohol inks too

and finally some lace to compliment the natural colours..
hope you like it?!

2nd post today, read all about it ...refurbished ...board book style!

well here , i am with a piece that was ready to blog
 and then life took over..
so here i am almost missing the challenge...
... Simon says read all about it...
so i decided to alter a now unwanted board book from my children...

so here she is:

i started by covering the board book in DIY foil tape,
front and back and edges..
.then adding tags cut to fit the pages inside..

under the front cover i added some cogs and washers..
then covered the covers...
in alcohol inks..
Finally i added chit chat stickers..
wings textured and inked..
and an idea-olgy cog.

the inside pages have been prepared and are ready for the off..
and i have started adding to the first two pages..

i love that this book started life as a treasured board book, once loved  and now left..
awaiting a new lease of life..

i had loads of fun and can see me doing this again..soon..

Dt piece for dragons dream TIO #124 ..in a heartbeat

well it is time for another recipe,
and this time was my turn to choose!!
so without further ado here is the recipe..
titled "in a heartbeat".
so the 3 things are:
a beating heart, a weathered timepiece and  a bit of grunge..
there are no other rules as long as you use a real rubber stamp and make a tag!

so here's mine:

I started by making the grungy background,
using a take on Tim's rusted enamel technique..
then overstamping the fab barbwire stamp and adding some
mini attachers staples..

i scuffed and distressed..
adding a weathered clock die cut..

a grunged up heart and of course..
rude not too..some wings
plenty more staples...

a quote with some twisted wire,
red dyed ribbon and a beautiful red heart
from the lovely Mel, thanks..Mel.x

make sure you pop across here and see what my fably creative team mates have dreamt up
and why not have a try yourself..
cooking is not my strong point but these recipes are really FUN!

Arty hearty recipe challenge....

Well it is time for another Michelle and Trace recipe..
inspired by the wonderful Hels and Ellen
where we both have the same yummy ingredients and
see what we come up with ...

See mine below and see the lovely Michelle's here..

So onto the ingredients:
A tag
Michelle's Digi (can be found here)
Foil
Embossing...heat or dry
Acrylic paint, gesso
Distress inks
Paint dabbers
Lettering
Stamps
A secret ingredient...
( i may have had a couple..i never was very good at following recipes!!!)

So here's mine:

I started by putting my tag through an embossing folder,
then lots of painting and inkiness..
then onto Michelle's digi .. i printed out and adhered to cardstock..
then coloured, inked and put through embossing folder...
and inked again...

my lettering came in the form of a quote...
i added lots of cogs, coloured with various techniques...

and then i added my wire special ingredient...and some rusty wings..
which i made using a rust technique from the fab Andy Skinners timeworn workshop...

I had a ball making this tag and cannot wait for our next recipe..
make sure you pop across here to see Michelle's fab make...

Dt Call Challenge For Creative Expressions...texture

well when I saw this Dt call I was excited to say the least...
but holidays to Disneyland Paris and family time was first,
so it is not till now that I have made my piece for
this Design team call at Creative Expressions ..

So here he is :

I love steampunk, tags and all things Tim
and my among my favourite steampunk stamps
are the fab plates by Sam Poole from Creative Expressions..

I created the texture in lots of ways.....
........I hope.......
the background tag was made using embossing folders,
a take on Tim's rusted enamel technique
and my trusty distress inks!

The cogs are using card, metal foil ...
and.....
a new rusty technique picked up from Andy Skinners Timeworn course
which I have just begun...

I added a crackled light bulb, string and metal idea - ology
for a variety of other textures...

finishing off with  my steampunk gent,
and a mini bottle full of old watch parts...

have a fun and inky day!
