Magnolia Angel

Election day is finally here, that means the deluge of ads and phone calls will finally stop for awhile. The one good thing about today is that I have it off and I have all sorts of fun things planned for myself. The hubster will be at work, the boys will be at school so there is absolutely no guilt in taking the day for myself.

Over the weekend I finished up this Magnolia card I had started earlier in the week. She was colored but my inspiration to finish it into a card just was not there. Sometimes it is best to walk away for a bit. Once I had a fresh perspective, I combined some Basic Grey and Echo Park paper for a bit of a non-traditional color scheme. The stars are covered in glitter pen for sparkle.
I always show Greg my creations and he is the dutiful husband, oohing and aahing. When he saw this card his first response wasn't an ooh or an aah but rather, "where is her mouth?". I tried to explain to him that Magnolia images are all drawn that way. He wanted me to draw one in. Sheesh, and totally ruin it? He just shrugged his shoulders.

That's it for me, I have places to go, people to see. No doubt my day off will fly by.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by, I appreciate it!

Just Peachy

While I was away last week I managed to get a handful of images colored. One of them was a new Magnolia stamp I purchased at my LSS. This one is called, Just Peachy.
There isn't much room left to do a lot of fancy designing on the card plus this one will be going overseas so I thought it best to keep it light. I did color a second set of hands and basket so I could pop them up for a bit of 3-D.
My mom, SIL and I all have birthdays in the first half of January and I always seem to be behind because of the holidays. Thankfully the mail to Germany these days is pretty quick and this card should make it in time.
The kids are bummed, school wasn't cancelled today. That means work isn't cancelled either, rats! Off I go...

Walkin' the Greens

All this Magnolia gal needs is a golf club! I was hooked on greens for this card.

Our week is filled with football practices, school orientations and projects both at home and church. I am sure many of you are in the same boat....the BUSY boat, that is!
New Cosmo paper and Spellbinder dies arrived at my house yesterday. I hope to carve out a bit of time later today to play. I have something fun to share soon too!

I hope your week is going well. I do appreciate your stopping by my corner of the web!
Blessings,

Dog Days of Summer

That is what Val challenged the Dirty Dozen with this month. Create something that included dog images or sentiments and colors of late summer (reds, oranges, yellows). Our only restriction was no flock or fuzzy type embellishments. I had to search my stash pretty hard to come up with anything with a dog! Hard to believe with all those stamps I came up so short. But once I found this adorable Magnolia image I was off and stampin'.
I have a little friend who is now 5 and headed to kindergarten next week. This card is for her as she embarks on this new adventure called school. I made the main image into a removable bookmark so she can use it when she is reading. She too is a blondie and other than the color, the doggie looks almost identical to the stuffed animal that is her treasured friend! Though truth be told, she is the ultimate girlie girl and I am sure will be wearing dresses to school, not jeans, lol!
I used a library card stamp for the inside.
The paper is more of the Bo Bunny line that I am fixated on this week.
The gallery for this months theme can be found here. I am sure as the day goes on, more will be uploaded. Those west coast gals are still probably in dream land, lol!

Cupcakes...YUM!

Here is another image I colored at the lake...

It is a large cupcake from Magnolia stamps. Very fun to color! The little heart sprinkles have glitter on them for extra sparkle. I actually colored 2 the same, so here is the other card I did...
I rarely bake cupcakes but I came across a new frosting recipe I wanted to try out. The pink is inspired by my card, lol! Now don't laugh...a cake decorator I am not! The boys thought they were a big hit.
I have to keep it short this morning. I am off to have blood work done before work.
Thanks for visiting!

CPS117 Wish Upon a Star

I have just struggled all week with getting down to my studio! The last few days it has been the start of a cold and I am coughing like a madwoman. That painful, dry like straw kinda cough, ugh.

I wanted to play along with the sketch over at CPS this week and I squeezed this in just under the wire. I told you I was in a red, white and blue mood. This Magnolia is one I colored a few weeks ago and I just coordinated all my materials to go with her. The DP is from the SU hostess paper pack, the star is an SU chipboard that I painted with cream acrylic paint and sponged with a bit of night of navy. I didn't have a good matching sentiment so I printed this one up on the computer using the Becky Higgins font. I ran the real red card through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder .
I am off to put my feet up and sip on a warm beverage while I try not to cough up a lung!
Have a great Sunday!

The Drifting Mind...

Don't you just hate it when you have the nagging feeling that you are forgetting something? It never fails that by the time you remember what you forgot, you remembered too late!! Catch all that? As one of our church members says, it aggravates me off!
For more than a year the Dirty Dozen (present and former) has a challenge due on the 20th of the month. Oh yes, it is optional, but I really like to play along. When I remember that is. My friend Christine was the hostess this month too and I really loved the challenge she set forth.

The challenge focus was anything water related.
The required element was water coloring.
The restricted element was no more than 2 embellishments.

I love to watercolor and I am not a huge embellishment user so I had this one! Well, late is better than never so here is my card...

Keeping it water related ended up the toughest part of the challenge until I found this Magnolia image in my yet-to-be inked pile. I stamped her onto smooth watercolor paper and colored her with SU inks. I think I am in a red, white and blue zone lately! I like the contrast of the red on the soft sky blue. It doesn't show up very well here, but I added white ink to the edges of the blue panel and over the raised dots. My two embellishments were the red/white polka dotted ribbon and the felt flower.
I managed to get this done before leaving on our camping trip and set the post for today while I am gone. We are camping on Seneca Lake, one of the largest of the Finger Lakes. I spent my high school years there and have many fond memories of swimming, skiing and skipping stones on that lake. Where ever you are this weekend, I hope you are making great new memories!

Moving Blues

Moving to a new place has it's challenges. I should know, I have moved a lot in my life, 8 times just since getting married. My dad was Air Force so my whole life has been sprinkled with moving. It helps me to be sensitive to others in the same boat. A friend of mine moved to a new place last year and I know she has had many challenges in that time. She celebrated a birthday last week so I wanted to send a little something to tell her she is in our thoughts.

I sat in front of the TV a couple of weeks ago with several stamped images, my Copics and a few of my pads of DP for color inspiration. I love this Cosmo Cricket paper, every pattern and color in the pad is wonderful! These Magnolia images have stolen my heart, I cut this one out and sat her on a Word Window punch. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I added a round file tab and stitched it in place with my handy Janomi Mini Sew.
I bought a pair of earrings for her and wanted a nice way to package them up. SU's new matchbox die to the rescue! It was the perfect size and came together quickly, just how I like it! I hope she liked them!
Today hubby and I are traveling to Rochester for a couple of hours. I am hoping we get to squeeze in lunch at the German deli we used to frequent. That is one of the bummers of moving, you have to leave behind some favorite places. Oh, I can smell and taste it now....

Cutie Pie

We have snow on the ground this morning...yuck! The only bright spot is that by Thursday it will be 50 degrees again and the snow will melt.
My pile of Magnolia stamps is still waiting to be inked so I thought I would try out another one. I started with the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper and went from there with my color choices. The card is still missing something but after several attempts to add various things, I left it alone. The large flowers are Spellbinders Blossom dies, they are fast becoming a new favorite!

I have been working on my swaps for the event later this month but for now they need to stay hidden! Tonight is another class and we are making an adorable little basket which I will share tomorrow.
Thanks for visiting!

Sweet Thing

Happy Tuesday! My friend Lynn and I stopped by Buffalo Stamps on Saturday and they had just gotten in a whole bunch of Magnolia stamps. I squealed! I knew it had taken a long time for her to get them into the store and that they would most likely get snatched up quickly so there was nothing more to do than to buy one of everything on the wall!! Lynn bought 6 and I bought 6, figuring we could share since we stamp together frequently. These little girls are just the cutest aren't they???

Cheryl Rowley does an amazing job with these stamps and I have much to learn but it was fun to give it a whirl over the weekend. Spring is heavy on our minds (hoping that thinking about it will force it into being, lol) so I went with the lilac version. I used Copic markers for the coloring and then cut her and the bench out to put onto my card. I know exactly who this is going out to!
Gotta dash, another day to work. This morning I actually get to stamp at work. Our pre-school teacher asked me to come in and do a project with the kids. Tomorrow I will show you what we made. See you then!
