Flowers Bloom

Saturday, June 15, 2013

The Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge this week is to create a card or project that moves or opens in a non-traditional manner. It took me awhile to decide what I would do, but I finally settled on a Surprise Pop-Up card, and followed the tutorial on SplitcoastStampers.
The image is colored with Copic markers. For the background, I masked the image and airbrushed it. I used Viva la Verve's June 2013 Week 1 sketch for the card design, sewing the layers before creating the pop up area. The sentiment on the vellum banner is heat embossed, and I colored the center of the flower with orange ink to match the flowers in the image. Stickles on the flower give the card some sparkle.
This is what the card looks like when the tag is pulled up. I stamped the pansy image in a light pink on the "surprise" sentiment panel before adding the sentiment. I added magnets underneath the pink embossed area to help keep the front of the card closed.

This sentiment is perfect for a "surprise" pop-up card. :)

The image will easily remain standing up on it's own, similar to an easel card.

Inside the card I sponged Spun Sugar Distress Ink inside the die.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
