Fantastic Friday: Fabulous Fort Worth Regionals
She is sweet and gracious and took the time to speak with anyone who stood in line to wait for a picture or a hug. That's right--she give hugs, not handshakes. :)
Being there with hundreds of other demonstrators and seeing these special people from the home office in Utah made me proud to be part of such a caring and sharing company.
Love what you do and share what you love is our motto. It is a business based on relationships and enriching the lives of others. It's about seeing the joy in someone's eyes the first time they make a card, try a new technique, and create a hand crafted gift for someone dear. Love it!
If you're interested in this type of opportunity and working to build a business to share what you love with others, click HERE to learn more. Then, call me...I'd be happy to share with you!
Happy crafting!---Lisa

Stampin' Up Occasions: Looking for Inspiration
I'll let you in on a little secret...there are very few original ideas out there!!
We all have so many sources for ideas and inspiration! And, Stampin' Up! has numerous, amazing ideas in their publications. Here is one I CASEd (CASE= Copy And Share Everything) from the past Occasions Mini Catalog. This bookmark was featured on p. 27 featuring the beautiful Vintage Vogue set( wood-117690, clear-118598) and the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder(117335)---still Available!
I changed a few things... used a floral image instead of a monogram, different color ribbon, and a pearl from the Pretties Kit instead of a Corduory Button. Having this for inspiration made this project come together so easily!
(NOTE: it's good CASEing etiquette to give credit to your source for inspiration.)
So, NO EXCUSES! There are ideas for inspiration everywhere!

Not sure if YOU could do this? I thought the SAME...here's my story:
My Stampin' Up! Story... Lisa Brown
About five years ago, I decided to start scrapbooking. This came out of a need to do something with all the photos and mementos my girls had collected throughout their years in high school. Once I began, I was driven. I loved it! And, my girls really appreciated the work I put into my pages.
I guess it must have been around April of 2006, that my daughter's friend invited us to a in-home party for a company her sister had become affiliated with...some company called Stampin' Up! I was really skeptical. I was sure I had everything I needed for scrapbooking; I wasn't interested in rubber stamps. But, I went and had a really fun time, created a cute card, and ordered a few things to add to my supplies. When my order came in, I was really excited. This was so much fun! I went to another party and placed another order...I was hooked.
In October 2006, my demonstrator e-mailed me with information on a discount on the Starter Kit. I looked it over and decided this would be a great way to get lots of the supplies and stamp sets I was wanting at a great price and order my supplies at a discount...but me?... be a demonstrator and hold workshops and classes...not me. ;)
It was like Christmas when my Starter Kit arrived and I began making cards, sending them to my friends and family...everyone loved what I was doing. I even showed off my creations at work and before I knew it, I had two friends that purchased the Starter Kit at the same great promotional price. A few weeks went by and my demonstrator (my upline), suggested that I conduct a workshop that she had scheduled with a mutual friend. I couldn't do that! Me? Hold a workshop???!!! but...
But, I did and the rest is history!
(Thanks so much, Kerrie, for that little push!)
I have made so many wonderful friends and met so many people through my involvement with Stampin' Up! I have two stamp clubs with some awesome ladies that meet once a month in my home and I hold workshops, classes, and have done a birthday parties for young girls.
Quite amazing for someone who said "not me". And, for the record, I am having a blast!
Thanks for taking the time to read my story. Check out my page on the Stampin' Up! Opportunity.

Look at the Stampin' Up! Opportunity
Crafting: A Silver Lining In A Tough Economy
by Laura Tiffany, Entrepreneur.com
In economic times like these, the urge to hunker down in your house, limit spending and jump off the merry-go-round of shopping, credit and consumerism can be strong. And one way for people to step outside the system, if just for a few hours a week, is crafting. Rather than being a consumer, a crafter becomes a manufacturer; the end result of a night on the couch isn't three hours of empty Tivo space, but a scarf, toy or handmade holiday ornament that one can give away, keep or sell.
While data are still being compiled for 2008, the Craft and Hobby Association reported that in 2007, craft sales in 39 categories reached nearly $32 billion, and nearly 57 percent of U.S. households engage in crafting. Online handmade goods site Etsy.com reported $88 million in sales in 2008, a significant increase over 2007 sales of $26 million. With 1.9 million members and more than 200,000 sellers, Etsy enjoyed $9.9 million in sales in January alone.
Like most retail sectors, it's likely that craft sales may decrease in the coming months. But all signs point to more and more people diving into this market, both as consumers of supplies and handmade gifts, and as entrepreneurs selling their own items and supplies.
At the January CHA show, spirits were high as manufacturers and retailers recognized that the economic climate creates more folks ready to put needle to fabric and stamp to paper to join a crafting revolution that's been in the works for more than a decade.
Some of the big crafting trends present at the show, which featured more than 900 exhibitors, include:
- Scrapbooking. This is the most robust craft category that CHA tracks, and scrapbooking companies had by far the strongest presence at the show. While paper still rules scrapbookers' supply cabinets, many crafters are taking skills such as stamping, painting and decoupage into other media for jewelry making--like sandwiching tiny art between glass slides for a pendant or stamping blank wooden bangles.
- Crafts for kids. Kid-specific kits and products are hotter than ever, even in this tough economy. "Unfortunately, the schools cut a lot of creative areas, so it's up to the parents to do it at home. And I really think [crafts have] become an important part of the American family," says Jenny Lowe, design director of Moorestown, N.J.-based Sbar's Inc., a 50-year-old supplier of family-friendly crafts that has lived through its share of recessions. "Kids are just so eager to accomplish something. And let's face it--crafting gets them away from the computer."
Some companies foresee growth in this area because of parents wanting to craft with their kids. Parents can purchase a $15 kit and have a fun evening at home, rather than pay $50 to take the family to the movies. There are also ancillary customers, such as church camps and Scout troops. And of course, there's always the need for kids' birthday gifts, too.
