PETER KOWALD, BOBBY NAUGHTON, LEO SMITH, GÜNTER SOMMER "LIVE AT WDR KOLN 3/12/81"

Here's another wonderful
concert, in very good sound
acquired in a trade with a 'friend'

anyone familiar with the ,wonderful fmp disc , touch the earth break the shells, will already have an informed view of the stunning empathy between kowald ,smith, and sommer.
well this concert adds the highly individual approach to the vibraphone of bobby naughton a neglected figure whos contributions to classic leo smith, anthony braxton, and roscoe mitchell albums, to some extent shaped my appreciation of the instrument's possibilities as something other than a merely pianistic approach, ah la say milt jackson.
all i can say about this is that, its a major statement by masters who's names should be in every lover of improvised music's lexicon, this is as great an example of aacm , post 60's free intergrating with euro free improv as one could hope to find, anyone interested in either should on no account overlook this superlative gem.

Wadada Leo Smith Golden Quartet - Live In Paris October 19, 2015

This concert was the third part of a long evening celebration of the 50th A.A.C.M anniversary.
The first band was under the direction of Henry Threadgill, the second was a powerful duo Roscoe Mitchell/Mike Reed and this last performance was the ultimate version of the golden quartet. This last performance was simply amazing.

WADADA LEO SMITH & HAMID DRAKE "EMPTY BOTTLE CHICAGO 2001"

Here we have the first contribution of Correct Silence.
The following are his own words........

Wadada Leo Smith has often shared the stage or the studio in duet with drummers: Adam Rudolph, Sabu Toyozumi, Jack Dejohnette, Louis Moholo and Ed Blackwell. Here is a concert with Hamid Drake with whom Smith has played sometimes in various bands but never recorded officially.
I have no more details about the exact date of the show. (2001 Empty Bottle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music on 21 April - see info by Joe in the comments)
The concert is complete, it’s an audience recording with good sound, sometimes there are silences or soft playing by both musicians.
I have decided to keep the material like it has been recorded, no editing has been done.
There are five tracks with no particular titles, the music is improvised.
Listening to this concert, the comparison that comes to mind is Ed Blackwell who’s style is close to Hamid Drake and it can be interesting to listen again to « The Blue Mountain’s Sun Drummer « .
A fantastic record in my opinion.

Marion Brown-Duets with Wadada Leo Smith and Elliott Schwartz-1970-3

Some" rescue remedy" ,for Aussie Tony.. a perfect antidote to those brutal nightmares you've been having of waking up naked in a room full of hamsters, razor blades, plastic tubes and Western Australian Senator Cory Bernardi  also naked... i'm appalled and terrified at the intensity of shock you must be suffering ... hope this helps  its magnificent...

Frank Lowe-Doctor too Much 1977, PKO2 LP

For Tony Continued ... Frank Lowe really was on a Roll, at this point... every release seemingly more potent than the last , this one has a terrific line up.. .. and Lowe had worked frequently with all of them,in various combos
.. some years ago i believe we posted a contemporaneous show recorded from the Audience at Angouleme FR. without Wadada.Leo Smith.. i'll try to reupload that soon..

As with most Recordings on Kharma , which was run on a shoe string budget, the sound is a little one dimensional, whatever its sonic shortcomings Musically this is superb!
As i may have mentioned a few thousand times ... for me Lowe was the greatest!.. and he is certainly Sorely missed.
his late work has equal gravitas , go to the cadence website and check the audio samples of 'Vision Blue', Bodies and Soul'...' Legends streets one and two'

Wadada Leo Smith & Organic - Live in Milan '11 [New links]

"Organic was organized to present an electric music idiom that utilized the same performance principles that Wadada’s other ensembles use. This means that the ensemble’s use of languages and systems are fundamental to the conception of making music. The instrumentation consists primarily of electric strings (4 guitars, cello, 2 basses), but what is truly different with Organic’s music is its ability to establish a polycentric / polytonal and multi-layered grid where each performer has the right and responsibility to creatively organize the ensemble’s musical space and ideas as it moves across the performance dimension. The value placed on electronics is communal in character and has a philosophy centered in the art of sound making, and is not noise based.
Organic’s music is powerfully electric and electronic in nature; fiery and interactive in character; contemporary, spiritual and politically conscious, its creative energy is heartfelt and connected with the human feeling."
