NEW RELEASES 2023/1 - CHRIS CAPERS & JOE RIGBY

Here are two recent releases from the unpretentious but definitely important label "Homeboy Music".

Although the sound is not the best (but still perfectly listenable) the music is great! My favourite CD is the one without piano ('Revelations'). But the one titled 'Impressions' (yep - the Coltrane tune) isn't tedious either. Both musicians play with full immersion and although the other musicians are unknown the music really took me up and up and up and ....

Hopefully the label's producer Roy Morris has more jewels in preparation.

I would like to recommend both releases for a start. Take a breath and support this enterprise directly at the label: Homeboy Music! - you won't regret it. And apart from ordering two rare releases I urge you to give the website a thorough examination. How many offerings about Earl Cross, Joe Rigby, Arthur Doyle, Yosef Mumin Phillips (from Black Unity Trio) or Ted Daniel you will find elsewhere? Go....

Almost at the same time the french label « improvising Being » published a superbe cd of the Joe Rigby Quartet, now the label have stopped but perhaps the owner of the label still has some copies, if you are interested you can try to get in touch here
be aware that I’m not talking about the cdr presented here but about another session that I recommend
Regarding Homeboy music, it was a tiny label who published less than 5 titles, including the full session of Norman Howard & Joe Phillips originally recorded for esp but not issued at the time, lately ESP reissued it partially on cd
