NEW RELEASES 2023/1 - CHRIS CAPERS & JOE RIGBY

 


Here are two recent releases from the unpretentious but definitely important label "Homeboy Music".

Although the sound is not the best (but still perfectly listenable) the music is great! My favourite CD is the one without piano ('Revelations'). But the one titled 'Impressions' (yep - the Coltrane tune) isn't tedious either. Both musicians play with full immersion and although the other musicians are unknown the music really took me up and up and up and ....

Hopefully the label's producer Roy Morris has more jewels in preparation.

I would like to recommend both releases for a start. Take a breath and support this enterprise directly at the label: Homeboy Music! - you won't regret it. And apart from ordering two rare releases I urge you to give the website a thorough examination. How many offerings about Earl Cross, Joe Rigby, Arthur Doyle, Yosef Mumin Phillips (from Black Unity Trio) or Ted Daniel you will find elsewhere? Go....

DEWEY REDMAN "UNRELEASED STUDIO SESSION" (NEW YORK, 1969)



This unreleased studio recording is flowing at the internet since years.
Mostly announced as an unissued Blue Note date. But this claim most likely isn't correct.
However - great music from one of the masters.
