YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME

Hello sweet friends! I had a little time to hide away in my craft room today and have a Mojo Monday sketch card to share.

I decided to use this sketch to make my Mom’s Mother’s Day card. I love this new paper pad from K&Co. It is Tim Coffey’s Foliage. I stamped and die cut the dragonfly with a Hampton Arts/Spellbinders set. I chose the dragonfly because it is my symbol and I know my Mom will identify with that. The Verve One Person stamp set is always great for my Mom’s cards. There are so many beautiful sentiments to choose from.

Thanks for stopping by!

MOJO MONDAY ON FRIDAY?

Hi cuties! What a GORGEOUS morning! After several days of clouds and rain, we awakened to sunshine and singing birds.  I had a nice walk with Joy and now enjoying my first cup of coffee. Temperature outside is 74 degrees at 9:15am! Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about….

Today I am sharing my Mojo Monday creation for this week. The MOJO238 sketch is from the very sweet and talented Mary Fish, and here is my card…..

These wonderful papers are from the K&Co Juianna 6x6 pack and the stamps, both sentiment and flower, are from Verve’s One Person set.  I love how well the RRR ribbon matched this paper. The pink flourish is from ZVA.

The pretty antique leaves and brad are from Tim Holtz.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 111
Happy Sunday cuties! I am so far behind on my challenge cards, I probably will end up missing some of the challenges this week. I admit, I have been trying to stay busy, but some days it has been tough.  I hope the worst of the “empty nest syndrome” is over with though!  Whew, what a week.  In addition to my spring cleaning, I have two other projects I am working on; one I cannot share at this time and one I will give you a sneak preview of later this week, so be sure to come back!
I made this card for Operation Write Home’s* sketch challenge #111, which was LAST Sunday (ugh). Luckily, the mid-week challenge is for a Mother’s Day card, and since I was finishing up my box to send off, I made a mothers day card.  I love it when things just work out like that!
Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 111_4
This is another Doodle Pantry digi set called English Bluebells. It comes with matching paper which I almost totally covered up.  The Happy Mother’s Day stamp is from Verve’s One Person set.

WHAT DO STAMP SCHOOL, VERVE, & SCS HAVE IN COMMON?

Why this card of course! Hi crafty girls! I hope your Tuesday has been beautiful and fun. I am suffering from withdrawal……I really wish I could talk to my son.  Yesterday was pretty good, but today has been sort of hard.  OMG!!!!! In the middle of writing this post, Grant called home! He sounds so tired, but is happy and satisfied with his decision. Mom is a happy camper now! I have heard his voice and for now I am satisfied that he is OK. Anywho!  Let’s talk crafting and have some fun!
This card is actually a Mother’s Day card, but the color combo makes it look sort of like a Christmas card.  Oh well, here it is:
    VLVMar2012
The things I made on this card: The red crochet doily behind the Quinn Flourish, The crochet flowers and the red and white design on the to rectangle panels. For the panels, I used Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Believe/Dream/Peace Designer Block Prints .  I ADORE these stamps for BG images. There are four stamps included in the set that make pretty backgrounds.
    VLVMar2012_4
Here is a close-up of the doily, heart with pearls and rose, and Quinn flourish. If you are wondering about the label, it is Spellbinders Labels Eighteen with a Spellbinders Floral Doily Motif embossed into the center.
    VLVMar2012_2
    VLVMar2012_3
I don’t know. I like the design, but do you think it looks too much like Christmas?

MWT at OWH* USE A DIGI and Mojo Monday MM230

GAH!!!! Really? A digi? Have you been reading my blog? Yes? Then you know I don’t like to color!!! *SIGH* OK I did it; I colored a digi today and maybe it came out ok. By the way, this is my second post for today. If you missed the first one, please click here.

Here is the card which was made using Mojo Monday’s MM230 sketch, however I rotated the sketch so that the digi would fit properly:

    MM230

Well, actually, I tried 3 new things on this card, coloring, using vellum (yeah, LOL first time!) and using Distress Ink in my embossing folder.  I made the BG by inking the negative area of my Tim Holtz embossing folder with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and slightly spraying water on it with a mister.  I then carefully placed the paper into the folder and embossed. I used my heat tool to completely dry the paper when it came out. You could just lay it aside to let it dry, but I am impatient!

    MM230_2

Those flowers are my crochet flowers; the leaves are from the starter set that comes with the Presto Punch. The ribbon is an old scrap from my stash

    MM230_3

I colored the flowers with markers and then chalked where the sentiment is located. I used a Gold pen to go over the words and added “Mom” stamped in gold just above the existing sentiment. I finished it by covering with VersaMark embossing ink and SU Clear embossing powder, then heated with my heat tool.  Oh, I should say this gorgeous digi is from the free downloads at OWH!  The light strip with yellow flowers is punched using a Martha Stewart double-edge punch.

    MM230_4

I added the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment on vellum and hope it was not overkill!  I had that pink vellum just begging to get on this card. The Mother’s Day stamp is from Inspired by Stamping.

    NOW FOR THE CHALLENGES:

Mojo Monday MM230 sketch – my card is rotated and is A2 size to meet Operation Write Home requirements
