NEO Love

I can't really tell whether it's the (pleasant) memories of Keanu Reeves from Point Break, or Star Wars sweatshirts from Balanciaga Fall 2012 collection, but my new obsession has a name - neoprene. Developed by DuPont scientists in early 1930s, it was quite a long way for neoprene from wetsuits, orthopedic braces and fly fishing waders to fashion catwalks. It is no wonder that neoprene was first used by fashion-forward Japanese pioneers Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo, followed by Ghesquière for Balenciaga, McQueen, Raf Simons, Calvin Klein and... just about everyone else! Alba Prat, Berlin-based designer of a Spanish origin, used laser-cut neoprene to create dramatic 3D topographies in her amazing collections Digitized and Synthetic Oceans. Pass its 80th birthday, neoprene is still a true (fashion) revolutionary. It brings contrasts together - stiff enough to be sculptural, yet soft enough to be wearable. Undeniably powerful, but not heavy. You can bend it, fold it, laser-cut it - it will be equally impressive as a texture, or a three dimensional sculpture! In one word - a true inspiration.

p.s. You're already familiar with the black H&M skirt and DIY neoprene tunic, which will have a slightly different role in my next post :)

Downtown

A lepo piše.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

For those who know to read, it is written in capital letters. On labels, internet (where else would Google housewife look for a piece of advice?) - don't wash woolen clothes. Of course I know that but, honestly, I did not want to pay for dry cleaning five times the price I paid for the pants on Nylon flea market. In my defense, there were couple of happy endings - if the clothes are not 100% wool, they can usually be washed just fine on delicate cycle. Which, of course, wasn't the case here. I had beautiful and powerful, oversize masculine pants in mind, only to end up with something you'd most likely find in Kids department. I wanted those Céline zip pants (that collection is definitely my favorite of Fall 2012 season), and I had no intention of letting go. Stubborn as one Capricorn can be, I persuaded my faithful seamstress Desa to continue with this  DIY Céline project. What do you say? I might have started in one direction, but I'm happy where I ended :)

And let's not forget the rest - shiny candy clutch, another Margiela x H&M trophy in my collection. Then, another wannabe Givenchy choker necklace, this time in silver, you all remember the golden one. Last, but not the least, my cashmere oversized cloud (yes, it is that soft and fluffy) in the perfect camel color. The Raveonettes are here because I'll be seeing them live in couple of weeks, so I'm practicing sing-alongs by then :)

Dok se sređuju utisci, a bogami i fotografije sa EXITa, evo jednog prefestivalskog outfit posta. U pozadini obavezno pustite When Saints Go Machine, danske momke posle čijeg sam koncerta, još u četvrtak, uzviknula: 'Što se mene tiče, EXIT slobodno može da se završi!' Toliko je dobro bilo.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I still need to sort both my memories and my photos from EXIT, so this time you'll have to satisfy with a little pre-festival outfit post. I insist on playing When Saints Go Machine in the background, as these Danish boys surely stole the show this EXIT, at least for me. Although they played on the first day, after the gig I was ecstatic - This was so good that EXIT could end right now! - and I still stand behind that. That's how good it was.

Light talk

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Although my diploma qualifies me as an architect, my business card says lighting designer. It's so inspiring when you write and talk a language of light! Of course, it helps if the company you work for exibits at Light+Building fair in Frankfurt, so you can keep in touch with all the novelties from this world of magic. Enough with words, let's talk the language of light and shadow...hope you'll enjoy it!

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Our dress code for the fair required staying somewhere in the gray area (literally!), dressing formal enough, yet not too much! And, if I might add the most important requirement - comfy enough to endure the challenges of standing and walking all day long. That's why this frill top from Max Mara seemed as a right choice. In general, there wasn't too much experimenting with formal dress code for the fair, and that's exactly why these girls and this guy made my day! Just look at his Jil Sander nylon jacket and cropped pants+DocMartens combo...simply, a breath of fresh (f)air!

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

A bit more of (obligatory) grays - you already know this necklace, but the neoprene skirt from Rome has finally got into a limelight! This gray piece of clothing (I really don't know how to name it, as it can be worn in 1000 ways) is one of my favorites, as I got it dirt cheap and it's a true fashion chameleon.

// FYI, I bought this little cutie :) And one more gray variation for the very end...
