for luscious 70s locks!

Vintage Magazine Covers

I know nothing about fashion (nothing!!), but I do know that I've taken a fancy to a 

few Vintage Magazine covers from the 60's and 70's that I've recently come across 

on Pinterest and Instagram.

Had to include Liza's cover as I've recently re-watched Cabaret and she was just brilliant in it.

1970's Van Love

I am currently coveting a 1970's van. 

It could be the Hung Up On Retro mobile store!
I could pull up at markets in the spring and summer, throw open
the side or back doors and start selling retro wares to the good people of Melbourne!

And when I'm not selling cool retro wares at markets, I could just cruise the streets - 70's style.

1970's Jamaica Tourist Board Poster

I have been slowly re discovering Pinterest and have been pouring 

over some fantastic 1970's posters on there.

This one caught my eye - perhaps for obvious reasons (kinda hard not to notice it!), 

but also because I remembered it from a scene in the 1988 film Cocktail.

 I found some information on the beautiful model Sintra Arunte-Bronte,

 on a site called Jamaica Gleaner...

Sintra Arunte-Bronte caught the eye of a photographer who had been commissioned 

by the Jamaica Tourist Board to do the poster in 1972.

The photographer had been scouting for a woman to portray the beauty of an 

island woman. It took seven and a half hours to capture the right effect.

Sintra said at the time she never thought the poster would have such an international impact.

The poster now graces the walls of airports, Jamaica Tourist Board offices worldwide, 

hotel lobbies and travel agencies internationally.

Other than the few dollars she was paid to model, Sintra never received any royalties.

Lily Thread - Vintage Ad

I'm not much of a seamstress. I can't sew, knit or crochet.
(Good thing I know wonderful, creative folk who do!)

In fact, the memory of my high school textiles classes fill me with
the kind of dread normally reserved for visits to the dentist.

However, I really love this Vintage Ad for Lily Thread circa 1970.

I love the colour, the patterned jumpsuit with it's flared legs and her gorgeous hair.

I think this ad would look great poster size, featured on a door or wall.

Rip Curl Pro - Vintage Posters 1973 - 1982

The first Rip Curl Professional event back in 1973 paved the way for professional surfing in Australia.

 The cash prizes may have been small, but by the following year, surfers from all around the world were coming to compete in the event.

Here is a selection of the original posters used to advertise the 

Annual Easter Surfing competition from 1973 - 1982.

MG 1970's Posters & Ads

I have a soft spot for MG's as my dad has been an MG owner and enthusiast since his early 20's.

So I was super excited to come across these great MG Posters and Ad's from the 1970's.

 Think I'll add an MG to the vehicles component of my covet list - only after I've purchased my 

VW Kombi and 70's Caravan of course!
