Remembering Mae

It's almost a year since our hound went missing.  I still miss that strawberry eating pup.  Not her naughtiness, like stealing birthday cake, or chasing cars or taking up the entire sofa.

But I miss her soft ears. And holding her paw.
And I just miss her being here.

I hope Mabel is happy where ever she is.

Pitter patter of tiny paws

Meet our new dog Spoon.  Yes, we now have dogs. As in two. Spoon, a kind of jack russell cross, has a colourful past and  was bought from a dog rescue home by a neighbour's niece, who can no longer care for him.  Desperate to find him a new home, our neighbour asked if we could take Spoon, and of course we obliged.  He flew down from Sydney last week and already he's settled in well.  He is very much a people dog, is very sweet and has become my little shadow.  The complete opposite to Mabel, who lives her own life really.

He is a tiny little fellow, not quite the borzoi I always fancied as a child, but as my neighbour says, sometimes you don't choose your animals, they choose you.  And what he lacks in height, he makes up with heart.  And that is all you could want really.
