When Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya) greets Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi) at the door in the second James Bond movie "From Russia With Love" (1963, with Sean Connery), something odd happens--a phantom hand appears where you might least expect it.  See if you can spot it!

Switcheroo Stunt in "DR. NO" (1962) James Bond (video)

It's a common but fun trick when the star "becomes" the stunt person in one unbroken take.

My favorite example is in the first James Bond film, "Dr. No."  First, we see Sean Connery and Ursula Andress.

They run behind some scenery, and, without cutting away, the stunt people emerge to dazzle and amaze us.

When Universal's "Dracula" Was Reflected In A Mirror (video)

A key element in Universal Pictures' "Dracula" lore is that the vampire's reflection can never be seen in a mirror...

...as in "Dracula" (1931) with Bela Lugosi...
...and "House of Dracula" (1945) with John Carradine.

But on at least two occasions, the filmmakers slipped up. 

In "Son of Dracula" (1943), Lon Chaney's vampire performs the screen's first bat-to-man transformation.

But in doing so, his image is captured in the hallway mirror.

In 1948's "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein", Lugosi is once again in the role.

And once again, his image is reflected in a mirror.

Lon Chaney's Live TV Blunder on "Tales of Tomorrow: Frankenstein" (1952)(video)

When the television series "Tales of Tomorrow" presented their 1952 live adaptation of "Frankenstein", Lon Chaney played the Monster.

Unfortunately, he thought the live show was a final rehearsal. So instead of smashing the prop furniture, he picks it up and gently sets it back down.

(Later, perhaps as punishment, John Newland shoots him well below the belt.)

After discovering his mistake, Chaney was mortified. But otherwise, it's a perfectly good performance.

Much of "The Valachi Papers" takes place in 1930s-era New York...

...where we can spot a 1960s-era car or two.

In one scene, Charles Bronson is pulling a robbery...

...with some modern-looking buildings in the background.

And although it wouldn't exist for another 40 years or so...

...there's the World Trade Center.

Glinda the Good Witch warns Dorothy to never remove her magic ruby slippers.

But in the scene with the talking apple trees, there's a brief moment in which Dorothy is wearing...her regular black shoes.

Don't let the Wicked Witch catch you without those ruby slippers, Dorothy!

In Otto Preminger's classic WWII epic "In Harm's Way", John Wayne is Admiral "Rock" Torrey.

He arrives aboard his former battleship to give a briefing on the Pacific situation.

But one of the extras is a step ahead of him.

Anticipating another actor's line, he'll mouth the words "Attention, gentlemen" along with him as Wayne enters the room.

Maybe he wants to get paid extra for a "speaking part"!

Pickup trucks were a pretty rare sight back in the 1860s.

But we get a quick glimpse of one off in the distance at the end of the John Wayne western "The Undefeated" (1969). 

Either it's a blooper, or some very ingenious inventor was way ahead of his time!

When playing an "invisible" character, actors once wore black body suits...

...and the black-clad parts would be "invisible" against the matted-in backgrounds.

But in this scene from "The Invisible Woman" (1940), there's a brief slip-up...

...and for a few seconds, we're able to see Virginia Bruce's black arm sleeve against her skirt.

This classic monster-hunt adventure takes place in the farthest unexplored reaches of the Amazon.

A place untouched by human beings and their scientific gadgets.

So you wouldn't expect to find even the smallest trace of modern technology...much less, a telephone pole. 

Matted widescreen versions of the movie obscure the telephone pole.

But not the original full screen version.

I guess even the Creature has to call Mom on Mother's Day!

Phantom Animation Devices Visible In "KING KONG" (1933) (video)

In the old days, stop-motion animators like KING KONG's Willis O'Brien and crew used a "surface gauge" to measure minute movements.

Sometimes they'd accidentally leave these devices in the shot. This happens at least twice in KING KONG. The first time isn't so noticeable. The second time is pretty obvious.

Floating Rocks in "The Terror" (1963) w/Jack Nicholson & Boris Karloff (video)

In 1963 Roger Corman directed Karloff and Nicholson in this low-budget quickie...

...on sets left over from other films.

Nicholson's then-wife Sandra Knight costars.

As the film nears its end, Karloff, Knight, and Dick Miller wrestle in the raging flood waters.
Nicholson hurries to the scene.

Suddenly a stone wall gives way and the water is filled with...

...FLOATING ROCKS!

"Dementia 13" was Francis Ford Coppola's first movie (not counting a nudie flick or two).

It's a terrifying tale starring the sublime Luana Anders (Easy Rider, The Last Detail).

The scariest scene...

(besides the one with the obvious boom-mic shadow)

...is Luana's midnight swim in a dark, murky pond.

So scary, in fact, that we almost don't notice...

...that her underwear changes color when she goes underwater.
