Birthday Fred

I can never seem to keep dog themed birthday cards made up fast enough for my friends and family who are dog lovers. "Fred" from High Hopes rubber stamps is one of my favourites to use for a dog themed birthday card but I also want to use him for a thinking of you or friendship card too - he is just too cute!!!

I stamped Fred on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic Sketch markers and cut him out with a stitched torn square die. I set him aside and found some matching patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and Cocoa Vanilla and created the card design. I added some sheer ribbon from my stash and some sparkly enamel dots to the corners. The sentiment was stamped and mounted on matching card stock and I used some matching patterned paper to cut out a paw print with a die and added it to a card stock banner.

Easter Blooms

I am creating this blog post on Sunday during our second snowstorm this week. We have gotten so much snow there is no where left to put it. So, what's a gal to do? Go in to her craft room and think Spring and Easter.

I love the "Bunny Blooms" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. It was fun to bring out some spring Copic colours to colour with and to get my first Easter card for this year done.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic markers and hand fussy cut the stamp. I set it aside and found some patterned papers from my stash, Lemon Craft and Honey Bee that all worked together. I cut the paper to fit my design and added some matching gingham ribbon before gluing the pieced down. I added the stamped image to the circle and glued it down. A stamped sentiment on matching card stock and enamel dots finish off my card.

Tractor Christmas

Late this past Saturday night my husband had a special request for a Christmas card for his boss. His boss loves John Deere tractors and they use them daily for work, he has a collection of antique JD tractors and he also restores them. Of course my creative brain went into overdrive. A masculine card, with a tractor and Christmas themed....uh boy - I have my work cut out for me! Gulp!

Thankfully, High Hopes Rubber Stamps has two tractors in their stamp line up - now I just had to wait for him to choose which one he wanted me to use. Oh and did I mention he wants to give it to him at his Christmas party next Saturday? Hubby chose the antique style tractor and this is the card I came up with. Here's hoping the boss likes it!

I did some creative masking (the stamp comes with flowers by the wheels) and stamped the tractor on alcohol marker friendly paper. After I hand drew a few of the lines to complete the wheels, I coloured the stamp with Copic alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it. I followed the same process with the Farm Background stamp as I didn't want the whole scene in the stamp.
Once the colouring and fussy cutting was done, I die cut some snow banks using a hills die and layered them on my card base. Paper from Recollections was perfect for a snowy sky background behind the farm. Patterned paper from Memory Box was perfect for the 5.5" x 5.5" card base.
I added some twine under the scene, stamped the sentiment and added it to the card. Before adding the sentiment, I watered down some white paint and splattered it on the scene to create a "it's snowing" effect. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Happy Birthday Bluebird

On Sunday the weather was cold, rainy and grey so I headed to my craft room for some colouring. I wanted to colour something that made me smile and brightened my day. I went through some images I had stamped and keep in a future colouring folder and found "Bluebird" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. A perfect stamp to colour on a dreary day and make a card to add to my birthday card stash.

I coloured this cute bird with Copic markers after stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper. When the colouring was done, I cut it out with a rectangle die. Then, I took a circle die, put over top of the space I wanted it to surround and traced the inside of the die with a pencil. Next, I grabbed my exacto knife and fussy cut around everything on the inside of the circle. Yes I questioned my sanity after starting but at that point I was committed.
After the cutting was done, I found some patterned paper from Echo Park and my stash that were perfect for my 5.5" x 5.5" card design. The frame around the edge of the stamped image was created by taking two larger rectangle dies, laying them inside each other, taping them down and running them through my die cut machine.  The sentiment is from a larger stamp that I masked off to get the part of the sentiment I wanted and ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Christmas Believe

I not sure which I need more of .... snowman or penguin Christmas cards. I have friends and family who love them so I end up colouring a lot of each every year. Thankfully, High Hopes Rubber Stamps has lots of snowman stamps. "Believe Snowman"  is one of my favourites and I make at least one card (it's usually more <smile>) with this stamp every year.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic sketch markers and cut the stamp out with a slash stitched die. I added some Star Dust Stickles the to the snow and icicles - I like a bit of sparkle on my Christmas cards. Patterned paper from Echo Park was perfect to create my card design with. After cutting the layers, everything was glued together and glued down on the card. I stamped the sentiment and added it under the ribbon bow. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

He Gnomes

I have a few people on my Christmas card list who love gnomes so the "Santa's List" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps was perfect for a card for one of them. High Hopes has a few different Christmas gnomes to choose from so it was a tough choice......but I will definitely be colouring more of them!

I stamped on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured with Copic markers and hand fussy cut the stamp. I added some sparkle to his hat with Star Dust Stickles and set him aside to dry. Patterned paper from three different companies came together to help put the design together and a notebook edge die gave me the "Santa is taking notes" look I was hoping for. I added some fishtail banner ends to add some interest to the card and finished it off with the sentiment, twine and enamel dots. The stamp is added with foam pop dots to help give the card some dimension.

Winking Holiday Cheer

After taking a bit of a break from making Christmas cards, I am back at it. When I am creatively challenged as I like to call it, I will look at my stamps and try to find a way to make them go further. This stamp comes with a frame around it but I decided to just colour the snowman and fussy cut it for a different look. Meet the adorable "Winking Snowman" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps! How cute is he?!?

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him. Patterned paper from three different companies helped the design come together. I added some sparkly icicle border the the top of some of the paper, sparkly ribbon and glitter enamel dots - I love adding a bit  of sparkle to my Christmas cards. Not A Bill

I have quite a few Christmas cards I need to mail each year and I hope that the people who receive them are happy it isn't a bill showing up in their mailbox. "Not A Bill" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is perfect for sending some holiday cheer. It come with grass under his feet and by the mailbox post but I chose to fussy cut him and add some snowbanks to make a Christmas card.

I coloured this cutie with Copic markers after stamping him on alcohol marker friendly paper and hand fussy cut him. I did the same thing for the tree and added some Stickles for "snow". Patterned paper from Mintay was the perfect backdrop for this outdoor scene. I added some snow banks and cut thin strips of card stock to glue on top to give the stamp a place to "rest" and create another snow bank. I tucked the mailbox post and tree in behind the first snow bank,  glued them down and stamped and added the sentiment. Some simple enamel dots finish off the card.

Holiday Cheer

I'm back in my craft room getting some Christmas cards done. This "Bird Song" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps just makes me giggle! I would be the upside down one in the middle ha ha. I need a few cards in my stash that aren't too full of bling for some of the men on my list and I think this card fits that bill.

Here's hoping this card brings a smile and holiday cheer to one of them.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic markers and cut the stamp put with a stitched tag die. I added a hole on the end so I could add just a touch of sparkly ribbon. Star Dust Stickles were added to the balls on their hats and the edge of the scarf but that is kind of hard to see in the picture. Next I found some patterned paper from Echo Park and cut it to complete the design on a 5.5" x 5.5" card base. The sentiment is actually two lines but I masked off the bottom line and stamped it for this card.
Some sparkly icicles add a winter feel to the card and some sparkly dots finish it off.

Hummingbird Wishes

I am taking a break from making Christmas cards and adding to my birthday card stash with this card featuring "Hummingbird" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. This stamp reminds me of my girls weekend at a friends cottage. She has a few window hummingbird feeders around her cottage and it is so fun to sit and watch them come in to feed. They are amazing little creatures and I love to sit and listen to the hum of their wings.

I coloured this pretty stamp with Copic alcohol markers after stamping it on alcohol marker friendly paper and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. Next, I found some water color paper from Lawn Fawn and cut it to fit my 5" x 5" card base. I cut a circle to go behind the stamp using two nesting circles, added some sparkly mesh I had in my stash and using the largest circle cut some white cardstock to put behind it. All of the paper edges are inked lightly to help them stand out. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Now that most of the birthday cards I need are done I can focus on the next big thing...Christmas cards!!!! I also need to make a ton of them so with some cooler weather where I live this weekend, I was inspired to officially start the Christmas season..... in my craft room as least! Next I got out some of my Echo Park paper pads and my stash and cut each piece to fit my card bases. 2 are A2 size and the square card is 5" x 5". I laid out each design and glued everything down. I added clear sparkle pen to the snowflakes and on the blue and card with the circle on it, popped the stamp up with 3D foam dots.  July is a big Birthday month for me. Most of my immediate family has a Birthday in July and most of them are men and young me that I need cards for.   I love having a stash of cards for all occasions and always need a lot of birthday cards on hand. "Flutist" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is perfect for a card for one of the music lovers in my life and would also be perfect for a friend, just because or a happy spring card - the possibilities are endless with this adorable stamp.

I stamped this adorable pair on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured with Copic markers and cut it out using a xstitch die. Patterned paper from three different companies came together to help create the layers for the card base. I added to eyelets to the darker piece so I could tie the ribbon bow to add some texture and interest to the card. After gluing down the layers I stamped the sentiment, added it to matching card stock and glued it down. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Deepest Sympathy

This is always a hard card to make but when a friends older brother passed away a few weeks ago I needed to make her a card. With Deepest Sympathy from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is a pretty stamp to make a card with to pass along condolences. I have made a very CAS card this time around but I also have some ideas to make cards with the sentiment masked off so I can stamp another sentiment in the middle.

I stamped on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured with Copic markers and cut the stamp out with a rectangle die to fit my A2 size card base. I was thinking about finishing it off with some enamel dots but in the end chose to keep it truly clean and simple.
