Once again I was tasked, along with my friend Wendy, with a quote from Tim Holtz Snarky Comments "The fact that I have more clothes to sleep in than I go out in says a lot about me as a person" and the challenge by Erika and Valerie on Art Journal Journey "Poems" so Wednesday afternoon was spent thinking about how to get around this one. The trouble was with a pending visit to The Lakes my head was reciting William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" over and over again as I thought of a day in Grasmere that was on the agenda.
A hasty scrabble through my stamps showed that I did not have any daffodil images apart from a huge one which would not go with a Dylusion figure I also had to use in the mix. Come to think of it I didn't have a Dylusion figure that would work in PJ's either! It was a choice between back to the drawing board or think around it. I chose the lastter.
"Rosa was sat having her morning coffee as usual squatting on the floor. It was good for you to sit on the floor she thought as her mind wandered to her exercise classes. Teacher always said that it was good to sit on the floor and hold your back up straight, 'strengthens the pelvic floor' she remembered being told. Rosa was conscious of how she looked and did her Pilates exercises every chance she got. Her friends all thought she was pretty, had a good figure and she was a lovely girl both inside and out.
Jinxy came wandering along, he was the love of her life, her four legged friend and confidante. By the look on his face it was time to get showered and take him for a walk. But what should she wear?
"If only I could go out in these lovely pink silk pyjamas" she said out loud, "they are so comfortable and feel so lovely against my skin. I think they compliment my skin colour too, but then people say I can wear most colours and look good. I have mum to thank for that and her genes.
"Oh Mum" she uttered out loud, "she will be wanted me to decide what I am wearing for the girly weekend that is coming up. The fact that I have more clothes to sleep in than I go out in says a lot about me as a person. I love lounging about in PJ's when I come in from college."
As if both minds were working together telepathically her mum shouted up to her "Rosa, what are you going to take with you up to the Lakes this weekend? You need something warm for the evenings and you had better be prepared for wet weather as well."
"Oh Jinxy, I wish you were coming with me this weekend, it would be lovely if we were staying in a little cabin in the woods and I could live in my PJ's the whole time, even take you out for a walk in them with a large coat over the top and my boots on. I am going to miss you whilst I am away with my friends but I promise I will bring you some lovely gingerbread from that famous shop in Grasmere back with me."
Jinxy gave a little yap as if he understood, or was it to remind Rosa that he was waiting for his morning walk and she needed to shower and get dressed quickly."
I could not find a suitable Dylusion body and so I just used a Dylusion head on a clip art body that I found and added a little dog by Dyan as a nod to her images on this page.
I wasn't surprised that I did not have any small daffodil images and so I just did a cloud, using ink pads and some white pastel clouds showing that Rosa was thinking about a weekend away with friends in the Lake District based around William Wordsworth's poem written when he and his sister were walking in the countryside of England's Lake District. I added two Daffodil images at the side and tried to show some yellow pastel 'scribble' to imitate the flowers at the base of the thought cloud.
