WOYWW 603

Ooh, it's nearly here.  Two more sleeps and it will be Christmas.  Sorry for all my friends down south who have ended up in tier 4 but I don't think it will be long before we are all joining you.  I just feel sorry for all those lorry drivers who may not get back to their loved ones in time for their children to open their presents.  Plus it has been going through my mind, that apart from food and drink (how do they go to the toilet?). I mean, come on, we all need that!

What are all you WOYWW'ers up to?  Is everybody busy and flying around like scalded cats?  Hope you are not too busy to treat us to a short post to tell us what you are up to.

Well I have been busy doing a workshop over five days, yes, five days, with Tracy Evans.  Not full days, a bit over a couple of hours each evening, but then lots of time outside those hours amending things that did not go according to plan.  I can't show it to you yet as the cover is not finished.  It was the first thing we did but I could not find my Mica so, as my back would not allow me to rummage, it is still missing.  I only had it a couple of weeks ago but where it is remains a mystery.  When I have done the cover I will load it up via video but it will most likely be in the new year as I want to do some chill things, like eating, drinking and being a couch potato for the coming days.

My room is in a bit of a mess and my polymer stamps, used in the workshop, are in a dreadful state so want a good scrubbing.  Only trouble is rubbing anything, therefore cleaning stamps, sets my back off so I might just have to delay that or do them in stages.  Here it is:

I need to put things away as I want to get my journal page painted for tomorrow and I do not want paint on my stamps.  I also have to make some mince pies as we have eaten the ones we bought and I have the fruit cake to  ice.  Oh, don't ask about it being a fruit cake and not a Christmas cake.  Please!  Well, I may as well tell you as I have mentioned it myself and got my BP up yet again.  Checked the order the night before and glaće cherries were still on the order.  Brilliant!  Next day the order came and the long awaited cherries turned out to be Maraschino Cocktail Cherries!!!  The air was blue - the phone call was almost blue but I managed to contain myself.  "Do you want a refund?" - "Too beep beep right I want a refund" (sorry if my vocabulary offends anyone) - even though it was only £1.25 - it became a principle.

So we don't have a proper Christmas cake, just a fruit one!  What stupid person told the picker to put cocktail cherries instead of glaće cherries in my order.  Do they not know the difference?  However, Chas also has a cherry-less pudding I made, but I only did a tiny one for him as I can never eat it after a huge main course, prefer my veg.

Thank you for the lovely Christmas cards that have been dropping through my letterbox.  I will try to scan them at some time and show them to you.  Well, must get on, hope you all have a lovely Christmas and above all Stay Safe and Well.
Happy Christmas Everyone!

Morning Neet. Your room doesn't look that messy to me - you really don't want to see mine! Glad you managed to take part in that workshop. I know you were looking forward to it. Will enjoy seeing the finished piece.Uh oh! Yes, well... those cherries really weren't quite what was needed, were they?! I used to love Christmas cake - but can't have it now - rather a lot of fruit in it!! I did make a sponge the other day, tough, in which I put all the Christmassy spices - just to get the flavour. Yum! is all I can say. I have had to be MOST disciplined with it - cut it up and froze down all the separate pieces... that way I can enjoy it in bits and it is still lovely and fresh.
Great Christmas tree!
Have a really special Christmas, the pair of you. Take care. God bless.

Happy WOYWW. Sorry to hear that you are having to be careful with your back. Look forward to seeing the finished journal. I have signed up for 2 different mixed media online workshops, and not had the time to do them yet. Between Christmas and New Year I am planning to take a couple of days whilst hubby is out cycling and watch the videos. I will also be eating/cooking/watching tv for a few days. Trying to avoid social media and just taking some time to escape from my usual busy days. Merry Christmas. Ali x #5

Wow love your tree, very festive looking. Your desk certainly has all the evidence of a busy crafting week. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed book when you upload it next year. As you say, take the next few days nice and easy and relax. We're planning on doing the same thing here. Happy Christmas to you and Chas xxxxxxxxxx

Oh bum...I'm sorry to hear about your lack of cherries. My darling hubby has made us a sugar free Christmas cake this year so no marzipan/icing but it's really yummy....and I can eat a little slice or two now. I guess we all have to make do and manage this year.
I hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and hopefully 2021 comes with better news for all.
Hugs,

Maraschino cherries just don’t work in a cake do they? (Ask me how I know......lolol) My dear Mum used to be frugal with glacé cherries and used to make a light fruit cake with about 5 cut...it was a triumph if you got a slice with some in and to this day I still make Hunt the Cherry Cake in her memory! I’m s glad you enjoyed the workshop as I know how much you were looking forward to it. Hope you and Chas have a great Christmas out of the madness.

I consider the lack of candied cherries a win - loathe them, but I feel your pain if you don't. And back pain? Yeah. been there. Sucks big time. So take it easy, rest up, enjoy your holiday by that lovely tree and craft when you can.

Merry Christmas to all of WOYWW!

What a nuisance about the cherries - I'm sure the fruit cake will be delicious depite not having them in. It sounds like you enjoyed your 5 day workshop with Tracey Evans and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the finished piece. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with lots of eating, drinking and couch potatoing!
Sending Christmas hugs,

Oh, no too bad about the cherries! I've had some silly substitutions from Tesco's as well, but that just comes with the territory of online shopping - the upside is that we don't have to battle the crowds, so I'll just accept the downside. How annoying that you can't find the mica powder! I often have to look for stuff as well, that I know I have somewhere, but sometimes it's just easier to buy it again - if it's something cheap. It will turn up eventually - one day! Have fun with your online course - it's good to have something to keep us occupied and look forward to! Happy Christmas, Neet, and best wishes for the New Year! xx zsuzsa #21

Your craftroom looks busy like mine ...lol 😁. So pleased that you had fun at your workshops and have fun relaxing over Christmas! If it helps I bought glace cherries and forgot to put them into my cake, so made another one for Christmas with cherries and we started eating the fruit cake earlier this month ...lol 😉. Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas filled with joy, peace and love! Hugs, Jo x

I hope you get to feeling better. I know back issues are so painful. And sorry to hear about the cherry fiasco.
Your room isn't that bad. Hopefully you will find your mica and get your stamps cleaned.
Beautiful tree!
Merry Christmas and God bless!

Shame about the cherries. We never have a Christmas cake as neither of us like it. My husband does like Mince pies and my son has been getting boxes sold in aid of a dog rescue centre. They are a bit pricey, but apparently delicious. The box seems to empty very quickly. Elton Mess is one of my favourite deserts, but my tummy objects very strongly ☹️ We usually have apple crumble! Have a great Christmas and a Covid free New Year x Angela #19

Happy Christmas Neet.

I’m sure your cake will be delicious anyway.
yes, I worry about the lorry drivers too. They’re getting rather frustrated. Even now the border is “reopened “ they can only cross if they’ve a negative test. If they’re on Manston aerodrome there are a couple of toilets, but none for the ones stuck on the motorway. I guess the highway maintenance crews will have to do a lot of clearing up. Brilliant Sikh teams have been delivering hot meals, but we’re now talking about nearly 4000 trucks.
I’d be volunteering if I could but the NHS have written, emailed and even texted me to say I must on no account go out.
Dover is completely blocked so the locals can’t move either. B went shopping today, and unusually the supermarket was nearly empty, because lots of folk cant get through I guess.
Hope you have a good Christmas nevertheless

Hi Neet,I'm so sorry you didn't get your cherries as planned. Iknow your frustration from when we chatted the other week! I've just prepped another stollen cake, and made a dozen mince pies. My daughter will take the stollen cake, but nobody likes mince pies beside me and Mr M, so we will scoff the lot, and the Christmas cake. We've been told we will be in Tier 4 soon - I'd just go for total lockdown and question everyone that is out and about. It frustrates me how many people are ignoring the guidelines and just prolonging the situation for everyone. I hope you find your Mica soon. I'm with you on chilling out- eat, drink, watch movies and a bit of crafting - plus a couple of walks to blow away the cobwebs! Have a lovely Christmas and maybe we'll get chance for a crafty Zoom session during the Christmas break! Take care, hugs Heather xx #30

Oh what a beautiful tree, I like the fact I can enlarge your photos and really see the nitty gritty. (Some no longer can be enlarged ) I love your workspace area, it's being used well. We have a company in Texas that for 80 some years sells Fruit Cakes and they are the very Best, moist, full of pecans, great cherries/other little fruits and pure happiness. It was my Mom's most special part of Christmas. Now we 3 girls are bit by it. Wishing you all the very best for a Merry Merry Christmas I'll enjoy being home, We have a wind/ice/snow storm approaching today. A good way to keep us all safe. Happy WOYWW too.

I've looked up Greyfriars Bobby - how sad! Dogs are amazing creatures (don't tell Oreo I said that!). I forgot to comment on your tree earlier! It looks wonderful - so vintage looking - almost Victorian! xx

Sorry I'm late it's been crazy here today, leaking washer and then fetching the Christmas order even the dogs didn't get their walk today but I'm here now. Fancy no cherries! Loving your tree though and hope you have the best Christmas possible. Hugs, Angela x10x

We once just had one very lonely grape in a bag from Tescos
I put 1 in the box thinking that would mean we'd get 1 bunch! Luckily their ordering system is much better these days! Work space looks busy and tidy too! We've just learnt we will be in tier 3 come boxing day.
Have a great week and a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe, Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #24

I love your busy creative space, Neet. Hope you managed to have a good Christmas despite the shenanigans over the Christmas fare! Ours was quieter than ever and my Christmas pudding didn't arrive till today so we had a post-Christmas pudding instead.

Thank you for your visit. I'm afraid there was no way I was going to get my hubby's kitty throw finished in time - I haven't even reached the half way mark yet with the squares. It's going to be a large blanket in order to protect his new chair. I'm getting on pretty well with it, though, and am enjoying it now the pressure of a deadline is off. He knows he's got to wait for his present this year but doesn't know what it is! I'm glad you liked my card as well - I've got another one to make tomorrow.

So glad you liked my outfit! Those trousers are more like a skirt really - they are really baggy and comfy. My hair isn't yet as long as I want it. My hubby is pleased that I've decided to grow it really long again - last time was when we were first married, but it was very dark then lol! By this time next year it should be down to my waist again if not longer. It grows really fast.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #25

I would say your room looks very tidy! I have far too much stuff on the floor waiting to be put away!
We have had some very (shall we say) creative replacements on some of our orders although for the last two weeks everything we ordered arrived! Hugs, Chrisx

Always best to see a craft room that's being used - though mine is never this tidy, I have to be honest. They're not Ideal Home rooms - they're studios and we work in them, lol. Good job, really :-) Hope you found your mica!
