Jeudi Journal - Broken

"We are all a little broken, but broken crayons still colour" is the quote for today.

My initial idea was to draw a lot of crayons at the top of the page and colour them in letting the paint drip down the page but then I couldn't think how to incorporate Dylusion figures.  So it was a rethink.  Next was a sad looking person with a broken heart and a few heart shaped flowers decorating the page.  Maybe one or two or even three of them.

Finally I decided to go with the word "broken" and use a dis-jointed person with a paint brush in her hand painting the flowers in her garden.

I used a large Dylusion figure that was able to 'bend' when she had her body cut up and disjointed but I used some Paperartsy flowers rather than the Dylusion ones I have as they seemed to work better.

Once again I used a Pan Pastel background, I am getting to like these for a quick coverage with no effort to set off my aches and pains, and, because I stamped the flowers directly onto the page I chose to colour the flower heads with pencils so that the colour would not go through the page.

As you can see I had to make another arm for her so apologies for the drawing, it is the best I could do at the time.

I am entering this into Art Journal Journey where the challenge is to use flowers, as set by the lovely Mia.

Nice Neet. I love your brilliant idea of using a broken figure. That was smart. And I love the color of the background. It almost glows. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey. Those big purple flowers are perfect for Mia's challenge. Hope your back isn't bothering you too much and you're having a wonderful week. Hugs-Erika

Gorgeous page, love how the woman is bending to the flowers. I have a huge box of broken crayons and always use them instead of the new ones, and yes, they still work well. Have a great day, take care, Valerie

A wonderful page and scene to go with the quote and images you used. You did a grand job giving her her arm, i would never have guessed it wasn't part of the image you used. Thank you for linking to Mia's theme at Art Journal Journey.
Stay safe and well.

This is seriously...well..either funny or weird!!! I saw your name in my side bar this morning when I nipped on before attending to a couple of e-mails. I promised myself a catch up visit this afternoon, although later than planned as number 3 son turned up with food! I'm looking forward to seeing your journal pages - this one is so cleverly done and matches the quote so well! Sadly I don't know whether we will get to Port Sunny ...or anywhere else for that matter before Winter! We are both fine and up to now well occupied with various bits and pieces! Hope you are both OK too! Hugs, Chrisx

Well, that was definitely thinking outside the box! I didn't expect that at all, lol. Love the paintbrush idea and the perfect flowers to use, if not a bit too much colouring for your back...? Love the matching tights/leggings and polo neck. Your figures always bring a smile to my face.

I find hands really difficult to draw, so usually try to do them curled, but they're still never brilliant. You did well. Love the tin of paint, too ;-)

Another difficult one to illustrate, but you pulled it off brilliantly. The background is nice and subtle - looks like our wishy washy weather in the North West... not that the last two days have been wishy washy.

Well done, you! Your Dylusions pages are always a treat and I look forward to seeing the new one each Thursday. (You did throw me by posting on Wednesday, though - almost missed it!)
Stay safe!

Very clever saying, Neet, and your girl is bold and beautiful. I adore the flowers that look so charming. All soft colors match perfectly.

A super interpretation of your quote. Wouldn't it be good if we could paint the flowers in our garden. It is a fantastic page and thank you for linking to Mia's theme at Art Journal Journey.

Such a gorgeous page! I love how the girl fills the page with those beautiful flowers, it's such a great interpretation of the quote 😀. I like you're idea of using the crayons, I have always wanted to try that technique, maybe one day ...lol 😉. Wishing you much happiness, I hope you are doing ok and are not experiencing too much pain. Happy weekend! Take care! Hugs, Jo x

I usually hate it when people use comment moderation, but now I'm really glad, Neet, because I apologize for taking so long to visit. I'm still trying to get over my horrible illness.

I've not used my pan pastels for a long time because I am so low on sealer. This is a lovely entry and I love the disjointed and broken lady as she paints her flowers. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey, dear Neet.

Lovely soft PP background and it was so interesting reading about your changing plans for what should go in the foreground. The crayons sound cool, but I love the bent and broken figure you've ended up with, and how she's still determined to bring colour to the flowers in her garden. Reading subtext about your back into this one too!
