Is It 189 for WOYWW?

Gosh, I am half asleep.  Managed to sort my bag out from CHA (ie put my 'wet stuff' in a suitcase to stop me trying to take it through customs and having it confiscated), sat in Maria's new car, helped Mary make her famous chicken salad for lunch, made an atc and went to KFC for two buckets of food and a side order of biscuits - oh, and some gas.  Oh I'd forgotten how good those biscuits are from KFC and in America in general.

Becky and her family came over and helped us eat the buckets of food so I got my third and fourth hug from Matthew (and Robert - but shh! he's 16 tomorrow) and that is all I have done but I am so tired.  Eyes hurting etc.  Must stay awake to get this uploaded for Julia's marathon blogquest.

Well, true to the spirit of the quest my workdesk is ... oh heck... not worth looking at because is is bare. Can I be granted a special pardon and show you some pictures from CHA instead?  Please Miss Julia! Promise a desk next week.

More Resin

This time Envirotex

Even though I loved the Ice Resin and am so sold on it I do want to try the Envirotex Pouring Resin out to make some of these creations. The one in the foreground (left) was full of tiny seashells.  Not that I envisage doing something like that, I'd rather layer them a bit with clear sections.  But I did like theirs.

Particularly impressive were the pictures they had covered with the product  A fabulous finish!

It's Been Mad but We Are Back Now

Well, day one went by in a great big hurry.  Met up with the lovely Oyster family in the afternoon so it was good to see them, especially the twins (changed my allegiance from Tom to George now) as he stood with me for ages in a queue whilst I waited to do the Ranger Make and Take.

Anyway, back to Friday when it was workshop after workshop.  I showed you a few of the pages from Laura's book but after that I had an "Ice Resin" class with Susan Lenart Kasmer.  Here I am with the glamorous owner:

Nothing special about the above but the large one is remaining in America.  My hostess claimed it as the "perfect hostess gift" so I guess I lost it!  This would have had more work on it had we had more time.  Considering it needs seven hours or so to dry between coats it only got the one, full to the brim.  Imagine walking around for a full day balancing it on a paper plate!  It spilt.  Still it looked good, it is odourless and a few hours later I touched the small one with my 'carry on' strap (it was balancing on top) but it levelled out once more.  Yes, this jewellers grade resin is a 'must have' for me.  Can't wait to get home and play.

The marriage between Spellbinders and Ice Resin (Media Mixage) and the new Spellbinders machine, Artisan Explorer, is going to be exciting.  Nested bezels nonetheless.  Above is the large and the small heart that we were given to work with.  The medium one is in my case ready for doing a multi-layer piece when I get home and can play.  Visit Spellbinders to have a look at what you can do.  Don't forget to Google 'ice resin' too.

The next class I had was yet another one with Susan.  Sorry, I have not taken a photograph of the little necklace we made but it used the new Artisan Explorer machine to emboss a metal bird.  The bird had a section cut from it and a solid one to put behind.  The paper was cut to fit on the solid piece and the other layered on top.  This has to be coated with Ice Resin so again, a job for home.

The last one (again no photographs) was with Fiskars and was a Mixed Media Book.  Unfortunately I did not finish that either, don't think anyone did, as the group was so large (75) and we all needed to access machines for varying techniques.  We did, however, use the new Fiskars 'Fuse' several times.

Hope these last photos have made up for the lack of them earlier.  Hopefully I will get myself sorted another day and start playing catch up - might even get on with finishing the unfinished projects - who knows?
