WOYWW 586

Another week has gone by, these days are going quicker than ever.  So it is back on the merry-go-round that goes under the name of WOYWW, the merriest blog hop that has been going for years and years, brainchild of the lovely Julia who will explain it all to you here.

I did say I would show you my last batch of iCads - to the end of July - so I am a bit behind with them you might say.  This time you will see I had a bit of help from AALL & Create by using some figures from Janet Klein and some bits I did whilst creating my tag book, shown last week.

But what is on my workdesk?  Well, haven't tried any stamping yet as I am trying to not put my arm through too much but I decided to do a bit of knitting.

Yes, not exciting knitting is it?  It is simply a rectangle to make a patch for my cardigan.  you know how children have "comfort blankets" well I have a "comfort cardigan".  It all began with the bad back, I would use the cardigan so that the hot gel bottle (or water bottle), with its own cover I might add,  did not burn me.  Only trouble is it became a favourite and I wore it every time I wanted some comfort from the pain so it got a good massaging across the back.  Either from poor Chas rubbing my back or the upright heater in the bedroom doing the job.  Eventually it wore thin and came into holes.  Being the type of person I am I could not part with it  as it had done me so much service so I decided to knit a patch for it.  Not the same colour but near enough.  After all it is only worn in the house when there are only the two of us.  Now the cardigan has a new lease of life, or will have when I cast off and press it before stitching it to the holes in the back.

A friend of mine sent for some fairy accessory stamps but when they came she was disappointed as they were smaller than anticipated so she passed them on to me.  They are now awaiting me stamping them onto the pieces of paper in these folders before putting them away.

Health Update:

Last Saturday I had to take the dressing off the wound and I was not looking forward to seeing what was underneath.  The clear sticky part of the dressing was very sticky and so I had about three goes, peeling a little at a time until the whole thing came off later afternoon.  It looked awful.  Bruised and swollen it is a bit of a mangled mess but I am confident the swelling will go down and it will be as neat as the original one.

You know those stickers they put on your legs and chest?  Well I had them on my left leg and right arm and when they removed them they have come up in perfect circular bruises.  Must be because of the blood thinners I take but they don't half look funny being perfect circles.  I am looking forward to washing my hair and having a proper shower as I am only showering from the rib cage downwards at the moment - the rest is a stand up wash job.  Good job I don't suffer with greasy hair.

See you all next week.

WOYWW 581

It's Wednesday and that is another WOYWW Day where I meet up with friends a d share what is on my desk - crafting that is.  Why not pop along and join us, you'll make lots of friends and have something to do every Wednesday, just click here.

I made a tag the other week for Vicky Stampers and forgot to show it on here and I almost forgot to show my latest workshop make - which ended up as a box to keep some Dylusion figures in.   It was a class done by my bff Lorraine which should have been a folio but when I had almost finished it I decided it would make a nice box and so I am now making another one which will be the "real" folio.

here it is - decorated with some of the figures

I did make another thing - a book, but I can't show you that yet as it went into a challenge which is anonymous so until it ends you will have to wait.  Bet I forget all about it!

I have been keeping up with my iCAD's but some days it has been a bit difficult so I have taken the easy way out and used a diecut, as you can see.  I also had a go with my Gelatos but I can't say I had much success with them.  In fact I almost threw the striped one away - then I thought I would just stick a Dylusion figure on and call it done.  You will have to excuse the dirty craft mat underneath.

As you can see, some days I did not have much time to spend on them but the ones where I coloured figures in were the ones I enjoyed the most, this blooming back has a lot to answer for.

Anyhow, you have come here to see my desk, not the index cards, so showing no evidence of anything here is my desk - nothing to see but my Pan Patel's that were waiting to go back on top of the cupboard.  I have my journal to do for tomorrow, luckily I know what I am doing for it and then I need to do a real good clean up and get ready for a workshop with Tracy Evans at weekend.  She asked us to get everything out and ready so as there are a few things want cutting and stamping in readiness I had better get to it.

Gosh, when I think of the money I spent on buying these and the trays to put them in - along with so much other crafting stuff that lies idle - I could be much richer (or have bought more from AALL & Create's Weekend Birthday Bonanza!).  Would have not had such a crowded craft room either!  Btw the bit about buying more at weekend was said rather tongue in cheek as i did get a bit carried away with the tv.

See you all next week!

Health Update:

The leg has been healing really well and the District Nurses are so pleased with its progress that I am signed off from having to go again.  Well, almost.  I have to go on Friday just to collect my stocking!!  I have reached that old age where I will have to wear an elastic stocking on my leg all the time.  Asked did I want "sand" or "black" I am glad now that I chose "sand".  Thought it was only a temporary thing but the nurse explained that the wound could break down at some time in the future and the wearing of this stocking would help circulation and prevent this.  Great!  Still, better than the alternative.  Must say those girls down at the clinic are doing a marvellous job.  Hats off to them!
Another week and still no call to the hospital.  It's going to be the end of the month before long.

WOYWW 579

Well, update on last week's post is that the treatment room rang me on Sunday to go through some questions with me and check that I would not arrive before five minutes prior to my appointment and I would wear a mask.  I was also asked all the questions related to Covid to make sure I did not think I had it.  Why?  Because they have had people attending with Covid and people without masks.  I told you last week about the non mask wearers.  Mind you, IMO, the security woman down there should be in the foyer, checking these things.  Oh, and you have to be alone, which I was, Chas waiting in the car.  More on my health at the end :(

Why have they opened bars and things when they know people will not obey the rules?  It seems so silly to me, guess it is to safeguard the economy but it is a worry.  Some towns are seeing spikes (ours was one of four mentioned on the national news) already, presumably from the beach visits, raves, parties and marches that have been happening.  It is probably going to get worse and worse now.  Worrying!

Anyway, not done as much crafting this past week as before.  However, I did make a tag today - just need to put some fingers on the clock and it is ready to photograph and put on Vicky Stampers.  So as it is time to show our desks for WOYWW I had better show you mine.  Here  is the tag on my desk with my pencils

So this is all that is on my desk.  Cropped, it as it is just a dirty mat that you would be looking at.  However, I realised I had not been showing you my iCads for the past few weeks so yesterday I set them out on my desk and here they are:

As you can see, some days I got a bit busy and just used a diecut that I had around the place.  You will also probably notice that there has been quite a bit of influence by Tracy Evans and her "Lives" on the internet.  A lot of them are stamped with Tracy's flowers and then coloured in using my pencils whilst sat with a hot water bottle on my back.  Bliss!

Health Update:

Well the news is that my pacemaker is cream crackered and I have to go in THIS MONTH to have a new one fitted.  I have always said this would not bother me but to be honest it does.  Not from the operation but from the fact that numbers are really on the up and up in our town.  We've gone from having 1's, 2's and a few zero's to figures like 5, 9 and the latest one - 12.  It scares me silly.  Here am I going to the clinic for my leg twice a week and an operation pending in the hospital.

Went to the chiropractor on Friday but did not get treated.  She had double booked and as I had no proof that I had an appointment I was the one who had to leave.  I did get ten minutes attention as fortunately the other lady had got lost with the traffic system in Preston (lots of roads closed to make cycling and walking safer in the town centre).   Came home and tried to book something but the earliest I could get was the 4th August - no good to me if my operation is this month.  Now got a cancellation appointment for the 15th so fingers crossed nothing goes wrong before then, I so need some treatment.

WOYWW 576

Before I forget, I have not found where to comment on Marianne's post for the past two weeks.  Am sure I have commented before but I searched and searched these last two weeks and found nowhere!
Once more we are at Wednesday - they come around quicker than (what?).  It is actually Tuesday night and we are having a terrific thunderstorm and the rain is coming down ever so heavily.  Not as bad as last night at my friends in South Manchester - she said the noise was terrible and her kitchen was under about an inch of water.  Not much fun when you are on your own and you have to face something like that.  People who join in with What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday are never alone.  IT's a happy bunch of friends, nobody is a stranger so why not join in and show us your desk.

Well, I have been crafting a good bit this week.  Nowhere near as much as some but good for me.  As well as doing the iCAD's, yes, I have kept up with them, I have made a tag and a canvas (only it wasn't a canvas as I didn't have one so it was a circle of card which is going to be stuck on a canvas backing when one arrives through the mail).  I did another one but changed it a little and did it on a rectangular block of wood that used to be a picture of Van Gogh's Boots.  Remember those, think they were 'Athena', pictures that were all the rage years ago?  This is my canvas that isn't:

I can't show you my tag or the other canvas (again that isn't) as yet but I can let you see my desk which was tidy(ish) so I put my iCAD's out for you to see my week's progress.

More or less the usual stuff but now I have some templates to do circles with on the left, some Honey Doo glue (love it), a dirty water pot (green paint had been used), two PPA paints, a tag (which shouldn't be there), a tissue for wiping up and my new vases for use on things.  The cardboard roll is full of messy pieces of kitchen roll for journalling with and to the right of the iCAD's is a piece of Kitchen roll and a messy towel and a huge AALL & Create stamp.

and here are the iCAD's in close up

That's it for this week see you next week!

WOYWW 575

Another week has flown by and it is time for another WOYWW, brainchild of the wonderful Julia who you can meet here and join in with the longest running blog hop, I am sure, that there is.

Well, apart from watching several You Tubes and writing notes up so that I can remember what to do I haven't been that productive.  Done two cards similar to what Tracy Evans has shown us (both the same) and, wait for it - Caro has inspired me to do some iCADS.  Not really sure what I am supposed to do but have done one a day since the beginning of the month (well caught up and am NOW doing one a day).  My idea was to do a background and then some stamping and when/if my back hurt (has a lot this week again) do a bit of colouring with pencils whilst sat with my hot water bottle in my chair.  Otherwise, if A ok just get on with it in my craft room.  So here is a mixture:

I hope Caro can tell me if I am doing it wrong and I should just be experimenting with paint or something like that.  I have enjoyed myself though and now wish I had started doing one a day when the first day of lockdown began - I could have had a nice book of images to remind me of the pandemic - but who knows, I might carry on past the end of July if I feel like it.

OK so that looks a bit of a set up on my desk but honestly, that is how my desk looks because I set them out to take a photo and left them there thinking I would get a better picture of them on the floor - then realised I can't get down and then get up again.  The circles was done today and I just crayoned the shapes whilst sat in my chair.

Got a lovely card from Darnell, you all remember Darnell I am sure.  Well, occasionally we swap an email or two and look at this lovely card she sent to me.  I just love that background.

It seems a shame to waste the back of the card and not show it to you so I have opened it up so you can see the lovely mix of colours.  I have had so many lovely cards recently I think it about time I got making some so I might take inspiration from the iCADs above and get some done and sent out.  In the meantime I will just say cheerio and stay safe and well folks.
