Wedding Card for Dawn and Steve..

Hello There

I have a hard day tomorrow so I thought I would share a little card I made towards the end of last year for a friend of mine who was getting married.  .........

I cut the top layer on my Silhouette before mounting it on the card base.  I had lent some stamps to Dawn for her (or should I say Steve) to stamp some images onto their place cards.  Dawn kindly gave me the stamp pads she used and so I knew the colours of her wedding which was the turquoise colour of the ribbon and background.

I decided the card needed some zing, so I spritzed it with Tattered Angels spray, thought the picture doesn't show the shimmer very well, possibly because it had not fully dried when I took the photo.  I forgot to photograph the inside - doh!!

Dawn and Steve loved the card (phew) and had a wonderful wedding day.

Thanks for calling by.

We Will Remember Them...T on Tuesday

Hello Friends

Some of my regular followers and Facebook friends will know that a fortnight ago Mr Hettie and I went up to London to see the Poppies at the Tower of London.  The sight of all the poppies was absolutely fabulous.  There were still quite a few to still be "planted" too.  The sight was sad and beautiful at the time.  Each poppy resembled a life that was lost during World War One.  Mr Hettie's Great Grandfather was lost at Ypres in 1917 so it served as a reminder of family lost.

As today is 11th November I thought it a fitting tribute to create a scrapbook layout of our trip in honour of all those men and women who died during that terrible War.  I hope you like...

The crowds were massive around the Tower and yet it was exceptionally quiet.  The landscape photo shows the moat almost carpeted in these beautiful china poppies.

The background paper is Graphic 45 and I thought the clocks were a good representation of time that has passed since 1914, which incidentally is the year Mr Hettie's father was born.
The poppy in the centre of the TH clock is from last year.  The small tag with the number on represents the number of our poppy.
I tore the background paper to share some more peeps of the poppies that were surrounding the Tower.
All the letters were cut using my Cricut and Stone Script adhered using my Xyron and then glossed with glossy accents.  Ink used is TH DI Black Soot and the TH die cut clock has a swoosh of Gold wax on.  I used a mixture of Bazzill and Papermania black cardstock, and some pieces are from my Snippets box.
As it is Tuesday I am sharing this layout with my friends Elizabeth and Bleubeard with my cuppa which you may have noticed is in a cup that I haven't shared with you before.  My sharp eyed friends may recall seeing this on my desk full of paint brushes.  I bought it at Gaudi's La Pedrera in 2002 and never used it as a cup.  But since I bought my twirly whirly I needed to clear some clutter on my desk so decided to peel the label off the bottom, wash it and use it.  I am also taking this to the Snippets Playground.

Thanks for calling by.  I hope you like my layout and please spare a thought for those that fought in the First World War.

Scrapbook Tuesday...Tea on Tuesday...T stands for Top Dog!

Hello There

Is it me or are Tuesdays coming round awful quick these days? In fact all days are coming round awful quick to me nowadays!  Does that mean I am getting old I wonder?  Don't answer that if you value our friendship!!

As usual on a Tuesday I am going to share a cuppa with you along with my friend from over the water Elizabeth and her cat Bleubeard.  I am sharing with you a cat mug in fact.  Now anyone who knows me knows that I am not a cat kinda gal.  I am more of a dog lover...careful!   But this mug is kinda special as it was bought for me by Hubby's Aunt who seemed to think I like cats.  It even has my name on it just inside the rim.  Now the desk you can see is in work, as this is my work mug.  However, I have used it for so long I have noticed the glaze is starting to go a little crazy inside so before anything bad happens I thought I should share it with you.  In it is some gorgeous Blackberry and Nettle tea by Twinings.  I don't drink many fruity teas as they tend to smell better than they taste but this one is different.

Now whilst I may not actually scrapbook at this desk, I quite often doodle scrapbook layouts when I am sitting typing.  It is amazing that sometimes when on a long typing job your mind can wander and think of something else whilst you are typing something work related.  Honest Gov!  So here is the layout I kinda planned out in work...

The little dog is our Sputnik.  She was found in a skip in Cardiff on 30th December 1989.  She was taken to an animal sanctuary where my MIL used to make donations of food.  Hubby and I had collected some too with our shopping so I got coaxed into helping MIL take some over.  And Sputnik came home!

The Christmas season was still with us and we used to call her our little "Christmas Cracker".  She really did rule the roost!  The letters have been cut out of Bazzill using my Cricut.  They were then stamped with Hero Arts holly stamp and embossed with VOS embossing powder...in fact the first one I ever bought!  The rosettes were made using TH dies, and again the spots in the centres were embossed.

The surrounding pieces were from a snippet which I just managed to squeeze all of them out, before deciding to cut into a fresh sheet for the rosettes and letters!  The hearts at the top and bottom are EKSuccess punch.  All inking is DI Gathered Twigs.
The journal says "You came in our lives on 30th December 1989 and left your paw prints on our hearts forever".  The background paper and journal card were MME.  They were an absolute bargain at Hobbycraft...not very often you hear that!  There was no price marked on there so the assistant said name a price.  I said £5 and she agreed it!  It was worth at least double that as there were 12 sheets of pp and a sheet of die cut embellishments!  I have previously paid £1.50 for each sheet!  Shhhhh!  Our secret right?

We should have known here how forceful she would be as she would never look at the camera for you!  The paper for these stars were snippets too from my Christmas album from a year or so ago.  Nearly time to start this year's album!
Well.  That is enough of this layout for you.  My tea is now cold.  Time to think about getting back to working on my desk instead of gassing with you all.

Just enough time to link this post with Elizabeth and the Snippets Playground.  I hope you like the mug Bleubeard.

Thanks for calling by and see ya all later.

Rudolph Day in July...Already!!!!!!

Hello there Peeps

It is 25th of July and so time for Rudolph Day with my mate Sandra.  This month seems to have come round sooo quick...or is it me?

Without further ado here are my cards...

I used a piece of stripey DCWV paper for the backround which I found loitering in the Christmas Snippets basket, some red bazzill, a little snippet of silver card and then topped with a stamping of my NBUS Penny Black stamp that a Special Friend bought me for my birthday last month!  I coloured it in with Copics..

And some more...

I stamped the image twice, once onto white card and again on the VOS background paper.  The stampings on white card I coloured in with Copics again, cut them out and then using the stamping on the background paper, I adhered them using foam pads.  The turquoise glitter card which I used to cut the MB music and Sizzix corners is the last of the K&Co paper I had.  Such a shame as it cut beautifully.  The bronze glitter is another make, but again Snippets.  The little rosettes are also K& Co which are all gone now.  A little doodling round the edge and hey presto four more cards in the tin.

So.  You know what you need to do now don't you?  Leave a comment in the box below then go and make two Christmas cards and join in with the Rudolph Day Challenge and if you use Snippets you get to join in with the Snippets Playground.  We have a virtual playground and a little smallholding with chickens.  Oh yes and a pond!

I am also going to join in with Craftyhazelnut's Anything Goes!

One more thing...to the Special person who bought me this stamp...Thank You once again!  You know me so well that I would like a Christmas stamp for my birthday in June!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for popping over.

Only 6 months to go...Rudolph Day June

Hello There

Yep!  You read it right.  Only 6 months, 26 weeks, or 182 days or 5 pay days until the day when we will hopefully have been visited by the man in the Red Suit!!

So in preparation for this I join in every month with my Mate's Rudolph Day Challenge.

Last night I had a rummage through my Christmas basket and came across my last piece of paper which measured about 7.5" square and wanted to practice a bit of thiftiness and get as many cards as I could without cutting the paper into small pieces.  So I cut it on the lines in the pattern on the paper horizontally, and trimmed to fit on a 7x5 card and chomped the corners with MS snowflake punch.  Now what next?  I found a strip of pale turquoise cardstock left over from a layout which matched as well as some white strips of TH "lace".  An idea was born.  On my desk, left over from a recent project was some dark turquoise card.  I cut three pieces of the pale turquoise to fit below the PP, I cut some more "lace" from Snippets of white, pale turquoise and dark turquoise card. I remembered I had some fine silver thread so threaded some through the top layer of lace.

Next I put it all together, having first cut some small squares of turquoise and placed behind the top corners.  I cut some snowflakes using Spellbinders dies and punched some tiny snowflakes which I adhered and then added Stickles in there.

Now to prove I made more than one..

I have two of something else I can share with you today too.  Two newbies to the Snippets Playground who were bought for me by Mr Hettie for my birthday...
Meet Hinge and Bracket.  Some of my older readers will know who they are.  Younger ones please feel free to Google them!
That's enough posing for you, time to find some food!

Right, off to call by at the Snippets Playground to check on my new Girlies and take my cards as they are made entirely from Snippets with only a few small bits left over.  Don't worry, I will use them too.

Why not make a few Christmas cards and join in to the Rudolph Day challenge?  You have until the end of the month and there is a prize to be drawn.

Thanks for calling by.

Scrapbooking Tuesday...T is for Two Hundred and Fifty Years!

Hello There!

Tuesday is here again.  Time to share my Scrapbooking Tuesday post with my friends Bleubeard and Elizabeth at T on Tuesday HERE.  Yes, I have done a Scrapbook Layout - first one in ages!

So here is my mug filed with Blueberry and Apple Twinings Tea.

And my Layout...
The photo was taken in August 2010 when the firm I work for was celebrating 250 years in business!  We are the oldest Law firm in Wales.

The VOS Celebrate card pulls out and I have included the names of all the Peeps for future reference.  I cut the text using my Cricut and the black piece is Papermania which has the corners chomped.  The paperclip is from Ikea and the ticket is Tim Holtz.

I have a NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) on this layout - the corner stencil I bought as a result of seeing another one of Imagination Crafts and when looking at the website I could not resist this one.  I used Sweet Poppy copper embossing paste.
The hand and typewriter were stamped onto Snippets so I can take this down the Snippets Playground.  The typewriter stamp is another NBUS - I have had it ages, but not used it - oops!

If you are still looking for yours truly, here I am under the green Family sign! Appropriate really as at the time I did work in the Family Department!

And here is the typewriter stamp along with the pencils stamp.  Isn't that divine?  My buddy Kim sent me that last year after she had been to a stamp show - another NBUS.  I hadn't realised until I stamped it that there is wording on the pencils.

So that is my layout for this week.  I am off to Tea on Tuesday, Snippets Playground and the all new, all singing NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) Challenge with my mate Darnell!

Thanks for popping by.

T on Tuesday...T Stands for err...

Hello there Peeps!

I am late for the Tea on Tuesday with my friend Elizabeth and Bleubeard.  Unfortunately I only finished this project yesterday and the light was no good for taking photos so I had to take them this morning.  Being the first Tuesday back after Bank Holiday it was hard to get up early enough!

So here is my cuppa...

In case you didn't know, I am a huge fan of NCIS, or should I say Leroy Jethro Gibbs.  What I wouldn't do to be left in an interview room with him!

Anyhoo...moving on!  The book that is next to my mug is another leaving book for one of the girls in work.  She is leaving the firm after being there since she was 16...36 years!  I was asked to make a book for her, which I said yes, then had to think of a theme.  Well, she likes my chicken cards, the last one she had was framed, so I decided it would be a chicken themed book.

So far all the girls who have signed it have told me they like it...phew!

I have used a mixture of goodies in this.  My Mind's Eye, Crafty Individuals, Stampin Up, Artemio, Penny Black, Tim Holtz, Bazzill, Memento, Papermania, Inkadinkado, WOW embossing powder and of course Snippets!  so off to the Playground I will run!  The flowers on the front were all in my Snippets tin - hurrah!

Thanks for calling by.  Don't forget to call by Elizabeth's for a cuppa.

Happy Anniversary....

Hello There Peeps

How you all doing on this Thursday?  We have actually had some glorious sunshine this morning, but it has dulled over in the last few minutes.  Let's hope it comes back!  I heard mention of the S word at Dancing last night and I don't mean the yellow thing that we see in the sky!!!  I hope it doesn't happen.

I want to thank you all for your lovely comments on my last post re the Christmas Album and Rudolph Day cards.  They were greatly appreciated.

Rightio.  On to today's little offering.

My dear friend and her Hubby were celebrating their wedding anniversary last weekend.  I have a list on which I mark up coming birthdays, anniversaries etc, and I usually put things on there for the next month, so now the list is showing all March  events.  Well the Anniversary card had been on there and I kept thinking it was ok as it was towards the end of the month.  However, on Friday night about 9.30 pm I suddenly thought that OMG it was TOMORROW!!!!  So off I rushed upstairs and half an hour later I came down with this......

The background piece is a 6x6 sheet of my MME (I told you she was a dear friend!) which I stamped with the birdie corner stamp , the bird and a lickle tiny butterfly on the right hand side.  I had a rummage in my Snippets box for some card to stamp on and layer with the birdie in the cage.  Out popped this yellow piece (MME again) and a bright pink piece of card, which did not look good against the MME paper, so I inkied it with Rusty Hinge DI.
I layered the pieces, flipped the teeny tiny last bit of the MME paper over and stamped "enchanting" and then swirled stickles on the flowers.  I hope you can see the effect on the card.  I love these stamps and came free with a paper pack, by Prima, on a card magazine.  I have not bought a card magazine for ages, and to be frank I was disappointed with it but the stamps and paper made up for that!

I did some further stamping inside as well as the love poem that was on my Valentines Day card.  I called by their house on my way to quilting before they went off to their little romantic getaway.  Please do not tell my friend I nearly forgot her card.  I blame it on being poorly for the previous two weeks!

Off to link this up with Di at the Snippets Playground.  I understand that there are no nice hunky men sorting the fence so I shall not stay long as I haven't got my souwester!  It is really dark and miserable outside now.

Nearly the weekend.  Anything planned?  The recipient of this card is up for us to have a fun day of natter and scrapbooking so really looking forward to it.

Scrapbook Tuesday - T stands for Toys!

Hello There

Third Tuesday of 2014 and so far so good.  I have joined in with Tea on Tuesdays and "met" lots of lovely peeps and shared some of my special cups too.  This week is no exception.  So without further ado......

Another layout of my Hubby some 20 years ago when I bought him a Scalextric set from a chappie in work who was selling his and his son's sets.  I was looking at buying a set for Hubby anyway and got a great bargain.  The long shot you can see is the hallway after it had already gone round the lounge.  We had it in the dining room too but  we couldn't run up the hallway quick enough so we had to shorten it.  We we also able to turn the lights out as the cars and track lit up.  The funniest thing was to put a tennis ball on a car and watch our first dog Sputnik chase after the car!!  So funny.

And my cup?  It contains Devon tea, or should I say it did!  Hubby's Jelly Belly mug.  He is a bit of a Jelly Belly fan!  Can you spot that we actually had some sunshine on Sunday morning I took these photos?

The paper is MME and doesn't it match the wallpaper well?  The black cardstock is Bazzill.  The "Happiness is" is from Cosmo Cricket cards.  Elf and Safety and stars are Papermania.

The title was cut from TH die and then glossy accents over the top.

This little Love embellishment is East of India which I bought a while ago waiting for the right layout to pop it on to.  And a NBIS "Just for You"  stamp from Theresa Collins set.

Off to see what adventures Elizabeth and Bleubeard have had this Tuesday over a cup of tea and as some of the black cardstock is from my Snippets box I am off to see the peeps at the Snippets Playground.  As the sun has been out today I am hoping the playground has dried up a little.

Thanks for calling by.

Scrapbook Tuesday - T is for Tantrum!

Hello There

Tantrum I hear you ask?  Yes this morning when our stupid internet would not load photos on to Blogger for me!  I left my puter lined up to upload a few photos for today's post and when I had my shower I popped in my room to find it was still digesting them.  I had my breakfast and only one was uploaded.  I got dressed and was near enough needing to go to work and I only had two photos uploaded.  So if you would like to see some close ups I have to ask you to F11 or whatever you do to make the photos larger!

So today is Tuesday and as is my custom I am sharing a scrapbook layout with you as well as joining in with my friend Elizabeth over at T for Tuesday.

So I started with a sheet of white cardstock and left it clean and took a piece of graduating blue paper with snowflakes on there and punched it all the way round with MS PATP.  I took my new XCut dies which Santa supplied pennies for me to buy and cut a mat in the blue plain cardstock and I corner chomped the photo.  Before I adhered this with foam pads, I layered a beautiful MB cut which my lovely friend sent me having embossed it with WOW embossing powder.  This is my new found favourite embossing powder of choice btw!

I took some Snippets of papers and ribbons and layered the layout with these and VOS ribbons as well as stamping the Theresa Collins calender onto Snippets of white cardstock and AO sentiment.  I used some Snowflakes from my Tin of Shame as well as made some more and layered these up with some TH sprigs too.  Under the snowflakes middle right, there are some stick pins too, which I cannot now show you a close up of.  The skates are from TH die which another friend of mine sent to me.  I embossed them with WOW white and some silver and laced them with quilting cotton before attaching the snowflake and bell with some sparkly twine in black.  Some gems and hey presto my layout was complete.
And my cup of tea?  We have camomile and honey today in my very special Winnie the Pooh bone china mug. Always prefer tea in bone china.

That's all folks thanks to t'internet!  I am hoping that does not mean we are without again for a while now!  I cannot even blame it on the wind as often happens!

Rightio, off to the Snippets Playground to see what mischief has occurred there today and also to Elizabeth's to see what is happening at the tea table.

Thanks for calling by.

Scrapbook Tuesday - Our Own Narnia

Hello there Peeps

It is still Tuesday so I can still share my latest layout with you all - my last of 2013!  Well, it is my Blog and so my Rulz anyhoo!

Here it is........

I took this photo on 19 December 2010.  Fortunately I had already printed is as my relatively new printer is now kaput!!!  Not happy as it is only just out of warranty.  Apparently it needs a new printer head - Cost £25 + £7 postage.  Cost of new printer - £40 ish.  Guess I wont be replacing the head as I got through more ink in its short lifetime than any other printer I know of!  Hurrumpf!  So I guess I shall be using up some of my plethora of photos already printed in 2014 until I buy a new printer.  I got the idea for the title from a comment left on FB when this photo was on there by LLJ - "You have your own Narnia!".

For this layout I used some Bazzill card with some Grace Taylor paper for the spotty and punched the corners with a MS punch and backed with white card from the Snippets box.  The red card is Bazzill again punched with the MS PATP snowflake punch and yes, I did punch the sides also but then covered it with paper - doh!  I punched some black card Snippets with another MS punch and attached top and bottom of the green Kaisercraft paper with a small strip of white cardstock.
The snowflakes are all cut using Spellbinders dies using Snippets.  I decided to add a mixture of red buttons to the centres.  The top right have some TH chit chat stickers.

The letters are all cut from Snippets of card on my Cricut using Candy fonts and then stickled over.
I actually dug some washi tape out.  I have several different ones but don't use them very often.

My aim now for 2014 (I don't make Resolutions as they are most often broken) is to not just stuff my Snippets away in the Snippets draw but to make a couple of cards using them.  So here are two....
The coloured panels are made from using the papers out of the bottom of my spray box.  No idea exactly what created them but they have a fabulous shimmer.  I stamped the cards using two TH Grunge stamps, the HB stamp was a present from Kim when she visited.  The flourishes are all Tonic and are attached using spray adhesive and then covered with black stickles.
Here you can see a little of the shimmer of the coloured panel.

And a TY card with a handmade tent card and more of the Tonic die set and a TY stamp (so old no maker on it)!
And another view which hopefully shows you some of the shimmer.

I shall be popping these over to the Snippets Playground.  I believe there is some Baileys on offer over there (other drinks are available).

It just leaves me to say Thank You for calling by now and throughout 2013.  It has been a pleasure reading your comments and returning the call.  Here's to friends new and old that I have "met" during 2013 and I am looking forward to seeing what the Blogging World brings in 2014.

May I wish you all a Happy and Crafty New Year!

Hugs

Hettie
