WOYWW 266 Sandra look away NOW!

Hello There!

Happy Wednesday to y'all!  Today is WOYWW which I am sure you are all aware of already.  Click HERE if you really need to read the whys and wherefores!

Now Sandra and all those with a nervous disposition please turn away now.  I will let you know when you can look again!

My desk looking pretty messy after a fun hour playing with my gelli plate last night.  I haven't really got to grips with it yet, but that could be 'cos I don't seem to be able to have "fun" time lately.  I am not saying that my crafting isn't fun right now, but I seem to be always making for a purpose and not just for the hell of it!  I have cleared and cleaned the gelli plate and all the paints (except the yellow one hiding on the right) but these are the stencils and roller on their way downstairs.  Just to the left of the pot you can see a ghost printing which I actually quite like.  I can see another pant hiding on the far left too!  Oops!

You can look back now.  I have had two more ATCs recently...
A lovely purpley gothic one from Ike.

And another purple one (does anyone guess I like purple?) from Darnell.  She spells sctuff the way I do too!  Tee Hee!

Now what have I done with all the ATCs I hear you ask.  Well, I sat down on Saturday afternoon and made myself a new ATC book in the style of the previous two years' so that they are all tucked in safely...
K&Co papers, Tim Holtz on the edge dies, along with my lovely new Moroccan die which a special friend sent me for my birthday.

I even managed to find a Snippet of ribbon to tie the book closed.  I shall be taking this down to the Snippets Playground too!  And here are some shots of the inside.  The ATC on the left is from my PIF friend and the others are from lovely peeps.
I need to finish this off with some doodling and stamping, and maybe some tags (though I am not sure as it is mighty thick now) but my priority was to put them somewhere safe so they didn't wander.
Due to a cock up error I managed to make too many pages so if anyone still has some spare ATCs they wanna swap, I would love a couple more?  I cannot count these days.

Right.  That is me done.   I do hope I haven't given anyone the heebeegeebies by the mess on my desk.  Thank goodness I didn't show you the floor too!

Click HERE to whizz over to the lovely Mistress of the Desk's desk and join in the madness that is WOYWW.  If you leave a message I shall call by either later today or tomorrow after I finish work.

WOYWW 261 - Better Late than Never!

Hi there Buddies!

It is proving to be one of those days...or should I say weeks!  Everything is stacked against me right now...weather, time, I even had to make a diversion for the dinner tonight.  I thought I got out mince to make some stuffed mushrooms and discovered it is diced steak.  So problem averted - a nice stroganoff with baked mushrooms stuffed with rice!  Shocking that we are eating stroganoff in June though!

Anyhoos I have diverted.

Last week saw the fifth anniversary of our Glorious Leader's Julia's funny thang of WOYWW.  What?  You missed it! Shame on you!  So this week instead of sharing my desk I am going to share with you the lovely ATCs that I have been lucky to receive.

First the lovely ATC I received from Cardarian my ATC sender...

Now for the lovelies I have received in no particular order...

This blue ATC on its own arrived today from Helen with some goodies and the tag on the right was from Debbie at the Crop.

I have been trying to write this post for well over an hour, but t'internet is absolutely diabolical crap pants and not playing ball.  It may be a while before I can visit you, but I will come back to me if you leave me a message!  I told you things are against me right now!  At least my stroganoff should be finished now!  Don't forget to visit Miss Julia HERE to see some other desks, atcs, stuff!

Butterflies, Bows and Buttons - WOYWW3 ATC book

Hello There

You know I mentioned yesterday that I had had a fun day with my Buddy Mandy on Saturday?  Wanna see what I made?  Course you do - silly me!

Ta dah..........!

I dug out some VOS K&Company papers that I liked.  Cut them to 9" square and folded, refolded, flipped, glued, adhered, inked, doodled and turned it into a little book to put my WOYWW 3 ATCs in!!  I had plans to create a picture to include them on but decided actually, a mini book would be better as I am running out of walls!

On the front cover is TH edge die of butterflies.  Some MB butterflies.  Lace. Buttons. Ribbon, Bow and the star is a beautiful flower that was in a box that my friend Mrs A sent to me back last year.  I am hoarding these flowers and only using them on special projects.  A little book of other people's art is special right?

And here are some of the pages and ATCs from inside....

Mary and Karen.

Lisa and Annie.

Belinda and Ann.

I didn't photograph the back cover doh!  It had the (NBUS - yet bought ages ago) TH edge die of scissors and thread to show the stitched ones from Annie and Jo!

On the tags I used the Prima stamp that I used last week for Mandy's Anniversary with Archival and then added more lace and ribbon bows.

As I have the essential ingredients for the Butterfly Challenge, Butterflies, Buttons and Bows, I am joining in nice and early.  There is still over a week left to join in so why don't you?

I have used Snippets so am taking this over to the Snippets Playground.  It may remind a certain someone, you know who you are, that I am still waiting for last year's ATC to finish the WOYWW4 other album I made!

Thanks for calling by.

Hugs

WOYWW 209 - ATC Reveal

Hello Friends

Well!  What a week it has been in the world of WOYWW.  First the 4th Anniversary on Wednesday and then the WOYWW Crop II on Saturday!!  Who would have know ey that this would happen?  Thanks Julia for this little madness in the world!

Right then first off is my desk......

Not too bad for me....again!  I had just finished making two birthday cards for my friend and her son!  How inconsiderate is that!  The die cut on the left is one I cut but it didn't quite look right.  Washi tapes still need putting away.  Wedding photo still waiting to be scrapped, but alas no time this week.  The coloured piece of card is a Snippet which I dipped into the inky loveliness that was left on my mat which I didn't want to waste!  Scissors and brayer need putting away, as does the pot of Distress Stains.  My mat is nice and clean though!!

Next is to reveal the ATC card which I have gave to Janet of FairyThoughts on Saturday, seeing as I was seeing her.

I have yet to receive my "official" ATC but I have received some from friends though.....
(Annie, Twiglet, Lisa, Zoe, Shaz, Helen, Cardarian, LLJ, Sandra, Jan, Kyla)

The little pegs that are on the top two are usually on my lamp next to my chair downstairs, and were made by my Buddy Mrs A.  When I opened my first two ATCs I popped them into the pegs and now I am thinking I may just make some more pegs and put the ATCs on them!!  They look kinda cute I think.

If you want to see my post about the mayhem that happened on Saturday at The Crop III, please click HERE

Wish me luck as I am going for more physio this  morning and then into work.  I will catch up with you later as I have promised myself a glass of something, a film and sit down to visit you!

Right, now you know what to do.  Please leave me a comment and the click HERE to go to the lovely desk of Julia's to join in the other WOYWW desks!

WOYWW 158 - ATC Reveal

Hello Peeps

Happy Wednesday to you all.  Only two days left and we hit the weekend!  Yippee!  I have a looong weekend to look forward to then too!  Off to jolly old London Town!

Well, it is that "day" again where we show off our desks and link them to the Mighty Julia and have some fun looking at others' desks.  Here is mine.....

Fairly tidy as I had just cleared up after finishing the project on the mat.  You will have to pop back if you want to see me reveal what that project is.

And this week, now I know some peeps have received my ATC, I want to reveal mine sent and the ones I have been lucky enough to receive.  Here is mine which I sent  (or variations of).......
And here are the ones I have received so far (though I know there are still a few to come yet)......
(Glitter Grammy (my official PiF to receive from), Annie, Belinda, Jo, Karen, Ann (my PiF  to send to) and Sandra.  Thank you everyone who agreed to do a swap with me.  They are all wonderful and diverse and lovely to receive.  In fact I received Mary's and Bella's on the same day - USA and Africa!!  And a HUGE Thank You to Julia for organising it all, even if you did have to sit at a Bar to do it all!  For those of you who have received mine, please feel free to sniff the globe!!!  I know Sandra did last night and even got her husband to sniff it too!  It is "sniff art"!!  In fact it is the new "flavoured" embossing powder from Stampin' Up ordered via Sandra!  Hee Hee!  I love using that stuff as my room got to smell like cup cakes after making a few!

Right.  Off to link up with the Lovely Julia and then take my turn in hopping around! If you leave me a message I will definitely come back to see you!

CC2C #2 - Time - ATC

Hello there

This week our Lovely Leader Linda Ledbetter (sorry, was on an L roll!) asked us to turn to page 58 of Tim Holtz's new Compendium of Curiosities and play with our alcohol inks - Yippee!  Do go over to see Linda's blog as she has a visitor Angie Lentz who has a beautiful piece. I have to say that my photos are a little more bluey than they are in real life.  Hmmn!

I am not allowed to tell you what I have done to create this piece but I can tell you what the theme is.  Time and how we are slaves to it.  We get up with the alarm, we clock into work, we take elevenses, we have lunchtime, then it is teatime, then hometime, and bedtime.  Can you see a theme?  Hence why when Hubby and I go on holiday the only important times are the flights otherwise we ignore the watches!!
No matter what angle I took the photo I had difficulty capturing the perfect pearl mist.

I have learnt something tonight, if you create a patch of Picket Fence to stamp on then stamp with coffee archival ink, then spray with perfect pearls mist then it disappears!  Therefore, stamp after the perfect pearls mist has been applied.

Here's hoping you have a good week!  Please do not forget to leave me a comment.

Hugs

Hettie

Grungy Monday 34 - Mayhem Magic - ATC

Hello Peeps

The Lovely Linda of Grungy Monday fame gave us two weeks to complete this week's Grungy Monday Challenge.  You may see the post HERE.  But before I start, can I ask a question?  Why is it that when I have a week to produce and post a Challenge I do so on the last day.  When I have two weeks I STILL post it on the last day!  Hey ho!  It would have been yesterday, but more below.

We were sent by Linda to watch Tim's video HERE to watch his little clip talking about Distress Crackle Paints.  I am already disadvantaged because I only have the one - Rock Candy.  Never mind, do the Challenge I will.   And, as I have recently fallen in love with the concept of ATCs thanks to Sarah, I will complete the Challenge as an ATC!

So, here it is.....

The background was made by layering papers which I inked using Picket Fence and Chipped Sapphire Distress Stains (DS).  I have to make a note to myself to buy the Distress Ink (DI) of Chipped Sapphire!  Then I took a piece of masking tape, adhered it to the top layer at random and then tore it off, which subsequently tore some of the paper off.  I did this again in another spot, then I went over the background again with Chipped Sapphire and Picket Fence.

Here you can see some of the layers torn and also the bottom left curling up.  I like that!

Then I added the Distress Crackle paint, having added water to it, as the Man himself told us we can do.  How cool was that?  Mine had gone a little gloopy and lumpy and I was considering throwing it away and opening the new bottle, but at least I have now got one more project out of the bottle, maybe another.  I left it to dry as we were told and then applied a little heat from the heat gun at the correct time.

I then inked over the whole ATC with Faded Jeans DI in order for it to be worked into the cracks made by the Crackles.  I stamped the background with this lovely lady and the lickle stars - both Graphic 45 and unused until yesterday!  The lady did not stand out as much as I would like so I stamped her on a separate piece of card, inked her with Faded Denim DI and then added the white Perfect Pearls in order that she would shimmer in the spotlights.
Then came the magic part.  I used Perfect Medium to stamp the stars on the background as I intended to use gold Perfect Pearls  to add even more shimmer.  When I brushed over the stars, the Perfect Pearls went into the cracks and made the whole area look golden and shimmery.  I really liked the effect so I did not rub the crackle to remove the ink and pearls hard, just enough to remove what was on the surface.

I added the lady using foam dots so she would pop a little, made the sign and then proceeded to make the frame, on my own and with no supervision, other than Monkey who sits on my desk!  I deliberately did not colour the inside of the frame as I wanted to ATC to stand out.  Colour may have dulled the ATC I think.  I used Chipped Sapphire and Picket Fence DS on the outside of the frame and then stamped the frame using Archival ink.  A little Indigo wax smudged with my finger and attaching of the sign and off to photograph it.  Unfortunately, I had to photograph it twice, as I was not totally happy with the flash so wanted to photograph it again this morning in natural light, hence why I did not post this last night.

Hope you like and please do not forget to leave me a comment and also pop over to the Lovely Linda to see some of the other entrants to the Challenge.  Don't forget you can always pop over to Tim's blog HERE to get even more wonderful ideas.

Mojo Monthly - In a Reflective kinda mood!

Hello Peeps

How are you all on this lovely weekend.  The last full weekend in January.  Nearly the first month of 2012 over with.  I had planned to show you some more of my Snippets cards in the last couple of days, but internet was not playing and was very flaky! It was too slow for me to access my e-mails and no chance of loading any photographs up to Blogger.  Grrr!

It appears to be better this evening so as I made my Mojo Monthly piece today I am going to attempt to upload it on here for you to see.  Fingers crossed ey!

This month Sarah got down to talking to Anneliese Bates.  Click HERE to see the post.  It really is worth reading about Anneliese's work and wandering around her blog.  Some stunning work on there.

Sarah asked us to make an ATC for our piece this month.  Up until this month I had only ever made one ATC which was at a make and take in Warwick at a Craft Fair.  Not my best piece of work I must say.  So I made an ATC for my Grungy Monday Challenge and now I have made a piece for my MOJO Monthly piece and do you know what?  I think I might make some more!  I really like the challenge of getting everything onto a smaller piece of art.  I hope you like what I have made.......

I have used a piece of canvas board which I had cut down to to size, I tore a page out of an old book and coloured it with Distress Stain - Peeled Paint, and adhered it to the board using Golden Gel.  I tore another piece of the book and coloured it using Mustard Seed Distress Stain and adhered it using the gel and another page using Bundled Sage.  I then adhered some masking tape to the board before puling the masking tape back off quickly so that it took the surface of the top layer off.  I did this several times so that the different layers would show.  I then added some Distress Stain over the board - Chipped Sapphire and Picket Fence as well as Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I distressed the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I stamped the background and then added gold wax to give it a light shimmer.  Then I set to work on the various elements.  First off I stamped a little birdie, coloured him in, layered it and then decided it would be better suited on a landscape piece.  So.  Which stamp then?  I  stamped the tree instead using Archival Ink in Coffee, stamped the background text using Antique Linen.  I coloured in parts of the tree with my watercolour pencils, distressed the edges and layered it with Basic Grey paper and I did the same with the word Reminisce.   I stamped up a small flower and grunged it, threaded some twine in the buttons, tied some more twine around the board and then started to adhere all the elements to the board.

Some Sepia Glossy Accents on the tree and flower and that was me finished.  I am now contemplating having a go at framing it using my mitre block, but that will have to wait until another day as Hubby is getting me a G Clamp in order that it can be fastened to a desk. It moves too much if it isn't strapped down as I found out the other day!!

Don't forget to pop over to Sarah's blog to see some of the other wonderful work that is there.  And of course don't forget to pop over to Anneliese's blog too!

TTFN and have a great remainder of the weekend.  I have a day of scrapbooking with my Buddy tomorrow - really looking forward to it.  Expect to see some stuff soon!

Grungy Monday 33! Explore ATC

Hi there Peeps

I don't know about you guys, but the weather here sure is windy today.  Just the right sort of day to shut yourself into your craft room, den, bedroom, kitchen table or anywhere you wish to do crafting.

After doing a little housework I have decided to come up to my Craft Room to have a little play on the Grungy Monday Challenge today over on Linda's Blog.

Linda asked us to go HERE to Tim's Blog to see the technique of covering your fragment with alcohol ink and then stamping a design onto it and wiping it off to give a clear image of your stamp. Not quite sure what that technique is in shortened form.

So here is mine.......

I have ventured away a little from my usual tagmaking and decided instead to make an ATC.  Having only made one as a make and take at a craft fair some 2/3 years ago, I consider myself to be a bit of a virgin when it comes to ATCs and have long admired those people who make them and make them well.

The base is a canvas board to which I adhered, using gel medium, a page of a flora book.  I then covered the page again with gel medium.  Once that dried I stamped the whole piece using the stamp which I was using on the fragments (Inkadinkado - an old favourite) and coffee Archival ink.  Whilst that was drying I set to work on the fragments.  Three fragments, all different colours (9 alcohol inks altogether, Clover, Wild plum. espresso, pitch black, watermelon, denim, red pepper, sail boat blue and cranberry).  I inked several layers on each fragment and left to dry for a bit.  Made a cuppa!

Then I inked up sections of the main stamp with Archival ink and stamped the fragments one by one and wiped the ink away.  I adhered them to glossy cardstock and went back to the background piece.

I applied vaseline pretty liberally to the centre of the ATC and then painted acrylic paint over the vaseline.  Being an impatient kinda gal, I could not wait to let this dry on it's own and just had to use the heat gun.  So cool watching the whole piece bubble! I then wiped the paint off, stamped the corners with a Tim Holtz stamp, edged round the edges and applied the pieces, after having first alcohol inked a key and stamped the word "explore".   Don't forget to pop to Tim Holtz's blog HERE to see more wonderful ideas as to what can be done with a few stamps and imagination.

Having now stepped into the world of ATCs I think I shall venture to do more and am already thinking about my next piece ready for the Mojo Monthly Challenge for this month (click on the link in my sidebar if you fancy joining in).

Now I just have to figure out how I am going to get this alcohol ink off my hands as tonight is the Dinner and Dance for Burn's Night.  I am also dancing two solo pieces of Highland and National Dancing tonight and I am not sure if 88+ people will appreciate or understand why I have multicoloured hands despite putting handcream on before I started!  Woops!

I am also hoping that Hubby will let me borrow his saw tomorrow as I would really like to make a frame for this piece.  He bought me the wood, the pins and a mitre block but so far has not come up with the saw for me!

Have a great and creative weekend all.

Hettie
