I rode :)
It was a productive day. I sorted through unemployment stuff, looked into my credit card options, and discussed my lack of rent money with Bryce. Then I drove to the barn, gave my horse his apple, and went for a ride. Ozzy was feeling great (and frisky!) We started in the outdoor. When I asked him to trot he leaped into a canter, squealed, and pretended to buck. I felt like I was on top of the world. We circled the big front field then wandered down the street for our first ride off property since I moved him to Cattail Farm... and for our longest ride since his injury in April. The weather is finally cooling and I've been watching old helmet cam footage and missing my ponykins. I see more riding time in our future. My heart skips a beat just thinking about it.
My Bridge
I'm probably going to do a series of short posts to see how far I get. Consider yourselves warned.
In 2009, just before I quit working at Polo Hill, I took a drive along some snowy back roads. It was a long and aimless drive, the kind meant to clear my head. Eventually I wound up on a lovely yellow bridge over a double wide river. I had no idea where I was, but it didn't matter. I stopped to take a picture then moved on. When I showed the picture to Bryce, he had no idea what bridge I was talking about.
A few weeks ago, I mentioned this bridge to Mike. He is also a lover of back roads and we spend a lot of time taking detours and enjoying the sights. He knows just about every back road in that general direction so I asked him if he might know where my bridge is. Much to my surprise, he was stumped. However, he made it his new mission to find me my pretty yellow bridge, time and gas be damned!
After quite a bit of driving and looking at street names and intersections, all I could tell him was, "It's on this river and in that direction."
Finally, we cheated and looked at Google Earth. There appeared to only be one double bridge on the entire river.
"How the hell did you get there?" He looked bewildered.
"I told you. It was a long drive."
On our way to Mike's house on Sunday afternoon, we took a detour. HE FOUND MY BRIDGE!!!
We took a walk over so I could get new photos. I had left Herbie in the car, but moments later we heard her jingling up behind us and turned to see her tearing up the street at full speed, looking really proud of herself. "I found you guys!!!" I had no idea how she got out of the car. (Later she also chewed through the rope I had her tied with to join us under Mike's truck. I'm just glad I have an escape dog that wants to be with me and not run away.)
In any case... have some bridge photos.

Broke and Happy
I am so beyond broke that it's not even funny. I overdrew my bank account to pay my student loans and I am going to max out my credit card when I pay for my car this week. I'm stowing cash in my car to get me through while I wait for unemployment and try to get some clients in order. With that said, I am happier than I have been in a very long time. As always, I have no time to blog, but here are some of my favorite photos from the last week or so.

Round Valley Photos
Yesterday was a gorgeous day. After having breakfast at the diner and taking the Corvette out for a spin, Mike and I took Herbie to Round Valley. Silly mutt seems to have forgotten how to swim. She kept looking at the water like, "I used to go out here all the time and it worked out fine. What gives?" I stalked them with my camera. Here... have nearly a hundred photos.

Interpretive Dancing
Mike doesn't dance. OR DOES HE?!?!!?! He real danced with me to country music at his house and "I Need A Lover That Won't Drive Me Crazy" in our living room. But the real treat came yesterday. I made the mistake of mentioning that I do 'interpretive dance' to "Sunglasses at Night". That turned into making up an interpretive dance to Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks". MIKE INTERPRETIVE DANCED WITH ME. I think I broke my catalog boy.

Mike Rides Ozzy
Mike and Ozzy have really hit it off. Mike brushes him and Ozzy falls asleep on his shoulder. Super cute. The other day, Mike asked me, "What do you think Ozzy would do if I just jumped on his back?"
Today, we found out. And yes, he did in fact 'just jump' onto his back. The boy is athletic. Sheesh!
Have some photos.
