November Rudolph Day

It's the eleventh Rudolph Day of the year and another die cut Christmas card (die cutting is my RD theme this year).  To make this card I used a Creative Dies die that had been a cover gift with a magazine back in 2016 and is still a favourite of mine.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white linen card blank
Creative Dies 'Festive Scene' and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large' dies
Snippets of blue pearlescent card, gold mirri card, Marianne Design 'Snow Paper', thin white card and blue paper

I die cut a circle and the Festive Scene from snippets of blue pearlescent card and attached the scene onto the backing circle.  I attached the blue paper onto thin white card (to make it the same thickness as the rest of the card) and then die cut the sky and inlaid this into the scene.  I die cut the snow from 'Snow Paper'  and the windows from gold mirri card.  These pieces were then inlaid into the Festive Scene.  The panel was then attached to the centre of the card blank.

I am entering the following challenges:
A Cut Above - Anything Goes with a Die Cut
     Allsorts - Anything Goes
As You Like It Challenge - Gold, Silver or Glitter (gold is my favourite as I love the warmth it adds to a card.  I'm not a fan of glitter although I do like this 'Snow Paper' to create snowy scenes)
     CAS on Friday - Christmas
Christmas (or not) BINGO Challenge - I have used Line 'O' (CAS, No Stamping & Free)
     Daisy Chain Challenge - Christmas/Winter
Moving Along with the Times - Winter Wonderland

New Home Card

This card is made with more of my holiday stitching using a chart from Cross Stitch Favourites magazine.   I thought it would perfect as a New Home card for a friend who is moving to the coast.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilitites 'Classic Squares Large' dies
     Poppy Brenner's 'Happy Homes' chart
     White 14 count aida
     DMC threads
     Snippet of white matt card

I trimmed a snippet of white matt card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank.  I die cut and embossed a square aperture which was the same size at the stitched area.  I then realised the squares on the aida were not true squares as the stitching was a perfect fit across the width aperture but it was one row short from top to bottom, so I had to stitch another row across the bottom!  The stitching was then attached behind the aperture and the panel attached to the front of the card blank.

I am entering the following challenges:
     Ally's Angels - Anything Goes
Alphabet Challenge - H is for Home
Love to Craft - Anything Goes

Cheers

I've recently stitched this design as a birthday card for a male member of the family and have used a lovely cross stitch chart from Lucie Heaton.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Lucie Heaton 'Cards for Him' cross stitch chart
     14 count white aida
     Oddments of DMC threads
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' die
     Snippet of orange textured card

I stitched the design onto white aida, although I did change the colours slightly as I was using oddments of threads for the design.  I trimmed a snippet of orange textured card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and die cut a square from the centre.  After finishing the stitching I trimmed the aida so it was slightly smaller than the frame and attached it to the rear using double sided tape.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card blank.

I am entering the following challenges:
     Ally's Angels - Anything Goes
As You Like It Challenge - Monochrome or Colourful (I like to make both monochrome and colourful cards and choose colours based on the design - I enjoyed stitching this colourful card and then matching the orange colour to make a frame)

Isabella Birthday

I made this card for the CAS on Friday Sketch challenge using some pretty BoBunny papers.  For my first attempt at this sketch I used several different papers but I felt it was too fussy and un-CAS, so I opted to make it in just two colours - grey and pink.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Creative Expressions 'Pierced Tags', Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large, My Favorite Things 'Fishtail Flags' and Creative Expressions 'Finishing Touches - Dainty Butterflies' dies
Clearly Besotted 'Modern Calligraphy' stamp and coordinating die
     Versafine Smokey Grey ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of white matt card and BoBunny 'Isabella' papers

I attached a snippet of grey flower paper to a snippet of white card and die cut the largest label.  I then attached more snippets of the same grey paper to white card and die cut two fishtail flags - cutting them in two sections so I could make then the right length.  The fishtail flags were attached across the bottom of the card.  I attached the label to the left side of the flags, using foam pads at the top so it lay flat on the card.  I  attached pink paper to another snippet of white card and die cut the circle and embossed around the edge, this was attached on top of the label.  I used grey ink to stamp the sentiment onto a snippet of white card before using the coordinating die to cut 'happy' and trimming around 'birthday'.  These were attached to the pink circle.  To finish I die cut a small butterfly from another snippet of grey paper and attached it above the sentiment.

I am entering the following challenges:
A Cut Above - Anything Goes with a Die Cut
CAS on Friday - Sketch Challenge
     Krafty Chicks Challenge - CAS
Daisy Chain Challenge - Layer It Up
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes

Love

Whilst looking through my 'Antebellum' snippets I came across a heart I had die cut but not used.  As it's got music on it, I thought it would be perfect for the Allsorts 'Romance and/or Music' challenge.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and  Lawn Fawn 'Scripty Love' dies
Snippets of white matt card and Lili of the Valley 'Antebellum' paper

I trimmed the white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and die cut the heart from the centre.   The Antebellum paper had been attached to a snippet of white card before the heart had been cut.  I inlaid the heart into the panel and attached some washi tape to hold it in place.  I then die cut 'love' from the lower edge of the heart.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card blank.  I die cut 'love' four times from more snippets of white card.  I layered the four white sentiments with the one cut from the panel on the top.  These were then inlaid into the card front.

I am entering the following challenges:

Celebrate

I made this anniversary card using lots of snippets.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and Poppy Stamps 'Celebrate' dies
Snippets of white matt card and Lili of the Valley 'Antebellum' paper

I trimmed the white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and die cut the heart from the centre before attaching the panel to the front of the card blank.   I attached the snippet of Antebellum paper to another snippet of white card and die cut the heart - this was then inlaid into the panel.  I die cut 'Celebrate' four times from more snippets of white card and once from the bottom of the Antebellum paper.  These were layered and then attached to the bottom of the heart.

I am entering the following challenges:

Steve's Anniversary Card

It's our wedding anniversary next week and this is the card I made for Steve.  The lovely green paper has gold foiled swirls and hearts and was in a wallet of mixed craft papers I bought in a charity shop last year, unfortunately it doesn't show too well in the photograph.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and Crafter's Companion 'Gemini Expressions - Husband' dies
Snippets of green and gold heart paper, gold mirri and white matt card

I trimmed the white card to a 5" x 5" square and die cut the heart from the centre before embossing the edge of the heart with my tan embossing mat.  I layered the panel onto a snippet of gold mirri and attached it to the front of the card.  I die cut the heart from the green and gold paper before embossing the edge and inlaying it into the aperture.  I die cut the husband background from a tiny snippet of gold mirri and husband from a snippet of the green paper - these were layered and attached to the bottom of the heart with a narrow strip of foam tape.

I am entering the following challenges:
As You Like It Challenge - Feminine or Masculine (and why) - I normally prefer making feminine cards but I enjoy making cards for my OH - making masculine cards takes me out of my comfort zone!

Hello

I made this card to send to Arlene for the January Card Chain Challenge.  I used the Colour Option (Aqua, Slate & Amethyst), the Sketch Option and the Theme Option (Friendship).

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Lil'inker 'Modern Mehndi' stamps and coordinating dies
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Ovals Large' and Lawn Fawn 'Hello Border' dies
     Sizzix 'Dots' embossing folder
     Versafine Onyx black ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
     Dark grey Promarker
     Woodware corner rounder punch
Snippets of white matt card, purple and grey textured card, and Funky Fossil 'In To The Blue' paper

I trimmed the white matt card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I die cut an oval from the upper part of the panel and used my embossing mat to emboss the edge before attaching it to the front of the card.  I die cut an oval from a snippet of aqua paper before embossing it with the dots embossing folder and inlaying it into the oval on the front of the card.  I used black ink to stamp the flowers onto purple textured card and the leaves onto grey textured card.  These were embossed with clear embossing powder before being cut with the coordinating dies.  I coloured the middle of the flower with a dark grey Promarker before attaching the flower and leaves to the the left side of the oval.  To finish I layered two snippets of grey textured card and die cut 'hello' before attaching it across the bottom of the card.

Butterfly Anniversary

The butterflies are back and Mrs A has changed the format of the challenge - to start the year there is a themed challenge to make an anniversary card.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large' and Memory Box 'Pippi Butterfly' dies
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Card Making Magic' stamps
     Versafine Imperial Purple ink
     Woodware Corner Rounder punch
Snippets of Lili of the Valley 'Antebellum' paper, white hammer card and purple textured card

I trimmed the snippet of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I die cut a circle from the centre before using an embossing mat with my Cuttlebug to emboss the edge of the circle.  I layered the panel onto a snippet of Antebellum paper and then placed it onto my craft mat with the open lid of the MISTI on top.  The sentiment stamp was curved, but not enough to fit inside the circle so I applied a little glue to the back of it and attached it to the lid of the MISTI, curving the stamp so it followed the outline of the circle.  I then placed the panel into the MISTI ensuring the stamp was in the correct place before stamping it with purple ink.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card blank.  To finish I die cut a butterfly from purple card and attached it into the aperture.

I am entering the following challenges:
As You Like It - Favourite Paper Brand (I have two favourite brands and Lili of the Valley is one of them - the designs are beautiful and the quality of the paper is lovely - sadly they are no longer available for sale)
Butterfly Challenge - A for Anniversary Card (I have chosen option two and have used African Violet, Amethyst and Apple Green as well as an Aperture, Anniversary sentiment and Butterfly
Pearly Sparkles Challenge - Clean and Simple

Happy 90th Birthday Mum

I made this card for my mum's birthday - although her birthday isn't until next month I can post the card now as none of my family read my blog!

To make this card I used:
     7" x 7" white matt card blank
49th and Market 'Vintage Artistry in Blush' paper
My Favorite Things 'Fishtail Flags' and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' dies
Snippets of dark brown pearlescent card
     White paper
     Computer generated sentiment 'Algerian' font

I layered a whole sheet of paper onto dark brown pearlescent card and attached it to the card blank.  I printed the sentiment onto white paper (my printer refuses to print onto card) and cut it with the fishtail flag die.  I attached the sentiment onto a strip of dark brown card and trimmed around the edge before attaching it to the upper corner of the card.  I cut two hearts from snippets of paper from the same pad, attaching the larger heart onto the lower corner and then used a foam pad to attach the smaller heart.

I am entering the following challenges:
Allsorts - Mood Board (I have used Pink, Flowers & Bird from the mood board)
     Ally's Angels - Anything Goes
As You Like It - Favourite Paper Brand & Why (I have a two brands I really like one of which is 49th and Market
- the quality is excellent, more like a thin card than paper, the designs are unusual with beautiful colours and they're double sided too!)

Partridge in a Pear Tree

This is my first Christmas card of the year - a 'Partridge in a Pear Tree' using lots of snippets.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank

     Woodware corner rounder
     Diamond Stickles
Snippets of white hammer card, brown pearlescent card, gold shimmer card and peach patterned paper

I trimmed the white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners before die cutting a circle in the centre.  I layered a snippet of peach paper behind the aperture and attached the panel to the card.  I die cut the partridge from brown pearlescent card and attached it inside the aperture with Artist Tac.  I used the snippets of gold card to cut the leaves, pears, partridge body and eye before inlaying them.  To finish I highlighted the snowflakes the Diamond Stickles.

March Rudolph Day

It's time for another Rudolph Day card and another card using a magazine cover gift, which is my theme this year.  This Creative Dies die was a cover gift with a Practical Publishing magazine several years ago (I first started using it in 2018) although I can't recall the title of the magazine.

I die cut the woodland scene from white matt card and placed the image in my MISTI so I could line up and stamp the sentiment along the lower edge.  The panel was then layered onto a snippet of blue paper.  I die cut and embossed a square in dark blue card and layered the scene onto it before attaching it to the card blank.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing - Creative Dies 'Woodland Scene'  and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' dies
Woodware 'Delightful Dangles - Christmas Tree' sentiment stamp
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink

Hello

I made this card to send to Gundi for the February Card Chain Challenge.  I used the Colour Option (Aubergine, Crushed Rose & Coffee Cream), the Sketch Option and the Theme Options (Hearts & Friendship).

I attached a piece of cream patterned paper to the front of the card blank, leaving a border around the edge before attaching a strip of burgundy paper (the nearest I had to aubergine) down the left side.  I die cut three hearts from snippets of pink and cream patterned paper and followed the sketch to attach them to the card.  The largest was glued to the card and the smaller hearts were attached with foam tape.  I die cut 'hello' from another snippet of burgundy paper and attached it to the lower edge of the card.  To finish I added dark red enamel dots to the hearts.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and Altenew 'Simply Hello' dies
Snippets of Lili of the Valley 'Heartfelt' and 49th and Market 'Vintage Artistry in Blush' papers

April Rudolph Day

It's time for the fourth Rudolph Day challenge of the year - I can't believe how quickly time is flying by.  As my RD theme this year is 'Upcycling' I've used a tiny Rudolph image and some red shiny card that have been upcycled from two Christmas cards.

I die cut the Rudolph image with a stitched die and then layered it onto a shiny red square that had been die cut and embossed around the edge.  The tiny topper was then attached to the centre of the card.

To make this card I used:
     4" x 4" white hammer card blank
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' dies
     Kars tan embossing mat
Tiny Rudolph image and shiny red card (upcycled from two Christmas cards)

Love Heart

I made this card for the latest challenge at AAA Cards which is 'One Inchie'.  I wanted to have both an image and sentiment on the card, but struggled to find anything small enough to fit within an inch.  This Clearly Besotted heart with 'love' running across it was perfect to fit into the inchie frame.

I used a small die to cut a one inch aperture in the front of the card blank and then embossed around the edge.  I used red ink to stamp the heart onto white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die.  I attached a piece of patterned paper inside the card and then used a foam pad on the back of the heart, placing in the centre of the aperture.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card
Clearly Besotted 'With All Your Heart' stamp and die
     Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares' die
     Kars tan embossing mat
     Versafine Crimson Red ink
     Cosmic Shimmer clear embossing powder
Snippet of Lili of the Valley 'Heartfelt' paper

Love

I made this CAS heart card for a few challenges using a couple more snippets .

I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the front of the card, die cut and embossed the heart from the centre before rounding the corners and attaching it to the card.  I attached the snippet of heart paper to a piece of paper to make it a little sturdier and the same thickness as the card front.  I die cut and embossed a heart and then inlaid it into the card.  I die cut 'love' twice from white hammer card, layered them and attached the sentiment across the lower part of the heart.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and Lawn Fawn 'Scripty Love' dies
     Kars tan embossing mat
Snippets of Wild Rose Studio 'Always and Forever' paper and white hammer card

Marbled Heart

My snippets of marbled paper are getting smaller, but I did find a piece that was large enough to fit behind a heart aperture for this birthday card.

I trimmed a piece of white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank before die cutting and embossing a heart in the centre.  I placed the panel into my MISTI and stamped 'birthday' directly onto the panel before attaching the marbled paper to the back of the aperture.  I rounded the corners on the panel before attaching it to the card.  I stamped 'happy' onto a snippet of white card and used the coordinating die to cut the sentiment before attaching it to the card with foam tape.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Heart' dies
Clearly Besotted 'Modern Calligraphy' stamps and coordinating dies
     Versafine Onyx Black ink

New Baby

I'm on a mission to try and use lots of oddments that I've come across whilst clearing my craft area.  This card uses a Lili of the Valley precoloured topper which I'd already die cut and embossed, a sentiment that had been stamped and die cut and a snippet of paper left over from another project.

I trimmed the paper so it was slightly smaller than the front of the card blank before die cutting and embossing the aperture.  I rounded the corners and attached it to the card.  The precoloured topper had already been die cut and embossed so I inlaid it into the frame.  I had previously stamped and die cut several sentiments so I layered two of them and attached them above the baby.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Lili of the Valley Art Pad (I'm not sure of the name of the pad - it may have been 'Babies & Toddlers')
Clearly Besotted 'Modern Calligraphy' stamps and coordinating dies
     Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Labels One' die
     Kars tan embossing mat
     Mememto Gray Flannel ink
     Snippet of blue patterned paper

To a Very Special Husband

My final Christmas card this year is, as always, my card for Steve.  I recently made a card as a special order for one of my customers and decided that I would make a similar one for Steve.

I die cut the 'Woodland Scene' from white card and attached it to the blue paper before trimming around the edge.  I die cut and embossed the largest stitched square from dark blue pearlescent card and the largest classic square from silver mirri card.  I layered the scene onto the silver square and the blue square.  I put the card blank into my MISTI and placed the topper in the centre so I could see where to position the sentiment stamp.  I stamped the sentiment in dark blue ink and then highlighted 'husband' with a Wink of Stella.  The Woodland topper was then attached to the centre of the card.  To finish I die cut a star from silver mirri and attached it above the deer.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Creative Dies 'Woodland Scene', Lawn Fawn ' Outside In Stiched Square Stackables' and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' dies
Clearly Besotted 'Happy Birthday All' stamps
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink
Snippets of dark blue pearlescent and white matt card, silver mirri card and blue paper
     Wink of Stella

Advent Swap Labels

I'm taking part in an Advent Swap this year and have used lots of snippets to make the date labels for my gifts which all contain small gifts, most of which are cross stitch related items.

I die cut and embossed small scalloped circles from snippets of gold pearlescent card.  I then die cut and embossed small circles from dark purple pearlescent card and attached them to the scalloped circles.  I die cut the numerals from the snippets of gold pearlescent card left over from making my snippets circles and attached these to the discs.

And these are the finished parcels ready to be posted.

To make these labels I used:
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large' & 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large' and Memory Box 'Classic Numbers' dies
Snippets of gold and dark purple pearlescent card

I am entering the following challenges:
