Happy Birthday to You

I made this card for a friend's birthday using the current sketch at the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Uniko 'English Country Garden Butterflies' stamp and coordinating die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Memory Box 'Wicker Panel' die
     Versafine Imperial Purple ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
     Promarkers
     Wink of Stella
     Snippets of white card

I die cut the Wicker Panel from a snippet of white card and attached it across the front of the card.  I used purple ink to stamp the butterfly onto another snippet of white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die.  The butterfly was then coloured with Promarkers - cream and two shades of green. - with the green areas highlighted with a Wink of Stella.  I put the card into my MISTI and placed the butterfly onto it so I could see where the stamp the sentiment.  After removing the butterfly I stamped the sentiment with purple ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To finish I shaped the butterfly's wings and attached it to the front of the card.

I am entering the following challenges:

Just Wanted to Say ...

My hairdresser is retiring and selling her business, she's also having a long-awaited operation this month so I've made this card for her and her daughter when I go for my final hair cut with them.

To make this card I used:
     5.5" x 4.25" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Designer Series 'Framed Floral Card Front' & My Favorite Things 'Fishtail Flags' dies
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
Versafine Deep Lagoon & Vintage Sepia ink
Snippets of white matt card and Polkadoodles 'Fourini' paper

I used both the floral panel and the frame to cut a snippet of white matt card.  After removing all the small pieces from the panel I attached a snippet of turquoise and pink paper behind the panel before attaching it to the front of the card blank.  I used Deep Lagoon ink to stamp the sentiment onto another snippet of white card, but as it was too bright I stamped it again with brown ink to make the colour a bit deeper.  I then used the fishtail flag die to cut the sentiment, moving the die slightly to make the flag a little shorter.  To finish I attached the sentiment to the card.

I am entering the following challenges:

Happy Anniversary

I've used a lovely Uniko 'Ink & Flip' stencil to make this anniversary card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Uniko 'Ink & Flip Geometric Heart Layering Stencil'
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
Distress Inks - Ripe Persimmon & Worn Lipstick
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
     Woodware 'Heart' punch
Snippets of white and black matt card

I used Ripe Persimmon ink to stencil the heart onto a snippet of white card.  I cleaned the stencil and flipped it to stencil it again with Worn Lipstick.  I then fussy cut the heart and set it aside.  I cut a snippet of white card with the largest stitched die and placed it into my MISTI before laying the heart onto the panel so I could see where to place the sentiment.  I removed the heart and stamped the sentiment with black ink.  The panel was then attached to the centre of the card blank.  I attached the heart above the sentiment with foam pads.  To finish I punched two tiny hearts from black card and attached then to the stencilled heart

I am entering the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps & More - Die Cuts and/or Stencils (I've used both)
     Allsorts - Stencils/Masks
Alphabet Challenge - H for Heart
As You Like It Challenge - Clean & Simple or Fussy & Fancy (my favourite is always CAS with lots of white space on my cards - if I try to make a fussy card they always seem to look messy)

Just Wanted to Say ...

When I made my Hello card I had stamped and die cut a few spare flowers which I've used on this note card following the sketch at the AAA Cards Challenge.

To make this card I used:
     C6 white matt card blank
Sizzix Framelits 'Floral Hello' stamp and die set
My Favorite Things 'Fishtail Flags' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Funky Fossil 'Stacked Lines' stencil
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
     Distress Ink - Old Paper
     Promarkers - Orange & Gold
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
     Wink of Stella
     Snippets of white matt card

I placed the stencil on the left side of the card and masked around the edge before using the Old Paper Distress Ink to colour the lines.  I stamped the sentiment onto a snippet of white card and cut it with the fishtail flag die before snipping the end from the die cut and attaching it to the lower edge of the card. The flowers had previously been stamped with brown ink and embossed with clear embossing powder before being cut with the coordinating die.  I used Promarkers to colour the flowers - orange for the petals and gold for the centre.  The flowers were attached to the card with foam pads and a Wink of Stella added to the petals to make them sparkle.

I am entering the following challenges:
     AAA Cards Challenge - Sketch
     Allsorts - Lots of White
Cut It Up - Use More Than One Die Cut
Simply Clean & Simple - Anything Goes
The Flower Challenge - Add Sparkle

Happy Anniversary

We arrived back home yesterday and I realised it was a friend's anniversary this week, so I used one of my favourite dies to make this quick CAS card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
My Favorite Things 'Peek A Boo Striped Heart' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Woodware Corner Rounder Punch
     Versafine Satin Red ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of white hammer card and red sparkle card

I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I cut the heart from the top of the panel and then placed it into my MISTI so I could see where the position the stamp.  I stamped the sentiment a couple of times to get a good depth of colour before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card.  I cut the heart from a snippet of red sparkle card and then inlaid the pieces into the heart.

Happy Anniversary

I've made another anniversary card using my Peek-a-Boo heart die.  When I made my previous anniversary card I inlaid the heart with dark red card but this time I've used a snippet of pink and red marbled paper.  I've also used a different sentiment as I thought the sentiment on the first card was a little small.

To make this card I used:
     6"  x 6" white hammer card blank
My Favorite Things 'Peek a Boo Striped Heart' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Versafine Crimson Red ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail Embossing powder
     Woodware Corner Rounder punch
Snippets of white hammer, thin white card and marbled paper

I trimmed the snippet of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners before die cutting the heart from the centre.  I placed the panel into my MISTI so I could ensure the sentiment stamp was in the right place.  I stamped the sentiment with red ink, stamping a couple of times to get a good depth of colour, before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  The panel was then attached to the front of the card blank.  I attached the snippet of marbled paper to a piece of thin white card so it was the same thickness as the front panel.  I then die cut the heart and inlaid the strips into the heart.

Enjoy your Special Day

When I got home after our latest campervan adventure, I had a lovely surprise to find a package with some stamps, dies and washi tape I had won in a magazine giveaway.  This is the first card I've made using the washi tape and coordinating die to make a card for a friend's birthday.

I attached the washi tape to a snippet of white card and used the coordinating die to cut the wreath.  I placed the card blank in my MISTI with the wreath on top so I could see where the position the sentiment.  I removed the wreath and stamped the sentiment first with blue ink and then with several stampings of grey ink so the colour matched the leaves in the wreath.  To finish I attached the wreath with foam tape.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
PinkFresh 'Indio Vines' washi tape & Coordinating die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
Memento Paris Dusk and Gray Flannel ink
     Snippet of white card

Just Wanted to Say ...

I made this notecard to send to a friend with a small gift - the gift was in shades of blue, cream and white so I wanted to make a card in the same colours.  The butterfly strip was one of the many items I chose from 'WOWVOW' when I spent the gift voucher I won in the Allsorts challenge.

I trimmed the strip of marbled paper and layered it onto purple card.  The butterfly strip had a plain band across the top which I snipped off and fussy cut around the top of the butterflies and flowers before attaching the panel across the marbled paper.  I placed the card blank into my MISTI and laid the panel across the card so I could line up the sentiment.  I removed the strip and stamped the sentiment in dark blue ink - as it looked a little too bright I overstamped it in purple ink so it matched the colours in the marbled paper.  To finish I attached the butterfly strip across the card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white hammer card blank
     Decoratif Papillon Pearlescent Ivory strip
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
Versafine Majestic Blue and Imperial Purple inks
Snippets of blue marbled paper and purple card

Happy Birthday

I made this card for my youngest great-nephew's forthcoming birthday.  As I haven't made any cards for a while it took my longer to find everything than it did to make the card!

I trimmed a piece of pale blue paper and layered it onto brown paper before die cutting an oval from the left side and placing it into my MISTI.  I stamped the sentiment with dark brown ink and then attached the paper to the card front.  I die cut the precoloured LOTV Art Pad image with an oval die and then die cut a number '5' on one of the sails before inlaying the topper into the card front.  I attached a small snippet of brown paper to a piece of card before die cutting '5' and inlaying it into the card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Lili of the Valley 'Action Time' Art Pad
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Oval STAX Die-namics' and Memory Box 'Classic Numbers' dies
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamps
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink

Enjoy your Special Day

I've recently been very fortunate to win two Chocolate Baroque stamps from the Allsorts Challenge - they're both lovely but this one is my favourite.  The stamps have lovely fine etched details which stamp beautifully.

I placed a piece of white hammer card into my MISTI and stamped both the floral panel and the sentiment in brown ink.  As I was stamping onto hammer card I stamped several times to get a good depth of colour.  I coloured the shaded parts of the roses with an orange pencil and then the rest of the flowers with a yellow pencil.  The leaves were coloured with two shaded of green.  I then gently rubbed the side of the tip of a pale pink pencil across the netting to give a slight colour behind the flowers.  I used a corner rounder punch to round the corners of the panel before attaching it to the card blank.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Chocolate Baroque 'Floribunda Net' and Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamps
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
Faber Castell Colour Grip coloured pencils
     Woodware Corner Rounder punch
     Snippet of white hammer card

Happy Birthday to You

I made this card following the new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches although I chose to rotate the sketch for my card.

I die cut a snippet of white card to make a fishtail flag, cutting it from each end to elongate the shape. I placed the flag into my MISTI and used black ink to stamp the sentiment along the lower edge before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  The flag was then attached along the lower edge of the card.  I used black ink to stamp the flowers onto gold textured card and the leaves onto green textured card.  These were embossed before being cut with the coordinating dies.  I coloured the decoration on the flower with a green Promarker and green sparkle pen.  The leaves were attached directly onto the flag and the flower was attached with a foam pad.

To make this card I used:
     8.25" x 4" white matt card blank
Lil'inker Designs 'Modern Mehndi' stamps and coordinating dies
My Favorite Things 'Fishtail Flags' dies
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamps
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
     Lush Green Promarker
Spectrum Noir Soft Jade Sparkle pen
     Cosmic Shimmer clear embossing powder
Snippets of gold and green textured card and white matt card

Floral Display

I've been asked to make another sympathy card.  I like to keep these cards simple and usually one layer - perfect for the current Less is More challenge.

I used one of my old wooden stamps to make this card which I've now removed from its wooden block so I can use it in my MISTI.  I had left the foam pad behind the floral stamp so I removed the foam mat from my MISTI before stamping and embossing the flowers.  After replacing the foam mat I put the card back into my MISTI to place the sentiment before stamping and embossing it.  I coloured the flowers with pink, lilac and yellow coloured pencils.  The leaves were coloured with green and yellow coloured pencils.  To finish I used a water brush to create the watercolour flowers.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Hobby Art 'Floral Display' stamp
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
     Cosmic Shimmer clear embossing powder
     FaberCastell coloured pencils

Cross Stitch Rainbow Heart

I stitched this rainbow heart for one of the assessments for my Diploma - it's from a design by Helen at Fandom Cross Stitchery.  I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the front of the card, die cut a stitched circle in the centre and used Versafine Majestic Blue to stamp the sentiment (Hobby Art General Greetings) in the lower corner.

After mounting the cross stitch behind the aperture I attached it to the front of the card.

More Bright Butterflies

When I was making my butterfly card yesterday I used just the one colour as I didn't think I had any bright orange paper but later found a snippet of marbled paper which I used to make these butterflies.

I trimmed a piece of white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and used my Hougie Board to emboss two lines along the length of the card.  I used black ink to stamp 'Happy Birthday to You' below the bottom line before attaching it to the card.  I die cut seven small hearts from the marbled paper trying to get as much of the orange and yellow colours as possible on the butterfly wings.  These butterflies were then attached between the two embossed lines.

To make this card I used:
     DL white matt card blank
     Tattered Lace 'Mini Butterfly' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Snippet of marbled paper from The Whimsical Marbler

Twofer Butterflies

I made these cards for the Twofer Challenge where the prompt is 'Butterflies'.  I have used my Memory Box 'Kaleidoscope Butterfly' die to make a friendship card and a birthday card.

Twofer One - Hello

I trimmed the marbled paper, layered it onto grey textured card and attached it to the centre of the card blank.  I die cut 'hello' and the butterfly from both white hammer and grey textured card.  I layered the two sentiment die cuts to form a shadow and attached it to the lower corner.  The white butterfly was also layered onto the grey die cut and attached to the upper corner.  The butterfly body was cut from white card and attached at the centre.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Memory Box 'Kaleidoscope Butterfly' and Altenew ' Simply Hello' dies
Snippets of marbled paper, white hammer and grey textured card

I am entering the following challenges:
Allsorts - I spy with my little eye something beginning with B (Butterflies)
NBUS Challenge - Challenge 16 (my 'Hello' stamp is NBUS)
     Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge 382

Twofer Two - Happy Birthday To You

I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I die cut the wicker panel from white hammer card and attached it across the panel.  I stamped the sentiment below the wicker strip and attached the panel to the card blank.  I didn't have any dark purple card for my butterfly, so I glued two snippets of purple paper together to die cut the butterfly which was then attached onto the wicker panel.  To finish I attached three small white crystal stickers to the card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Memory Box 'Kaleidoscope Butterfly' and 'Wicker Panel' dies
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Versafine Imperial Purple Ink

Rainbow Daisies

I've now made and sold several Rainbow Butterflies cards so have made some Rainbow Daisies birthday cards, which are proving equally as popular.

I trimmed a piece of card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I punched seven daisies in rainbow colours and placed one of them onto the card so I could see where to make the embossed lines - one above and one below the daisies and then used my Hougie board to score the lines.  I attached the panel to the card blank and attached the daisies across the card.  To finish I added black nail heads to the centre of the daisies.

To make this card I used:
     DL white matt card blank
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamps
     Woodware 'Regular Daisy' punch
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Snippets of white matt card, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet textured card

Rainbow Butterflies

I've been asked to make a rainbow birthday card for someone who likes butterflies - hopefully this card will tick all the boxes!

I trimmed a piece of card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I die cut seven butterflies in rainbow colours and placed one of them onto the card so I could see where to make the embossed lines - one above and one below the butterflies and then used my Hougie board to score the lines.  I attached the panel to the card blank and attached the butterflies across the card.

Great news is that I added two of these cards to my Folksy shop and sold one the following day!

To make this card I used:
     DL white matt card blank
     Tattered Lace 'Mini Butterfly' die
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamps
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Snippets of white matt card, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet textured card

Hope You Feel Better Soon

Today's card is for a friend who is feeling a little under the weather - I made the card using the AAA Cards sketch.

I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I put the panel into my MISTI before placing the sentiment and butterfly stamps onto it.  I stamped these a couple of times to get a clear impression before embossing them with clear embossing powder.  I coloured the butterfly with Promarkers before attaching the panel to the card.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
Clearly Besotted 'Butterfly' stamp (from a magazine cover gift) and Hobby Art 'General Greetings' sentiment
     Versafine Imperial Purple Ink
Promarkers - Amethyst, Bright Green & Gold

Happy Anniversary

My final card today is an Anniversary card for a few of my favourite challenges.

I die cut the wicker panel from a snippet of warm white hammer card and attached it across a square of the same card.  I rounded the corners before attaching the panel to the card blank.  I stamped the sentiment below the wicker panel using grey ink and clear embossing powder.  I die cut four hearts from snippets of red textured card and four hearts from snippets of raspberry textured card.  I attached the red outline hearts to the wicker panel and inlaid the pink centres.

To make this card I used:
6" x 6" warm white hammer card blank
Memory Box 'Wicker Panel' and Creative Expressions 'From the Heart - Female Relations' dies
     Hobby Art 'General Greetings' stamp
     Woodware Regular Corner Rounder punch

Floral Display

My final card today was made for the AAA Cards Optional Twist 'Use Those Older Supplies'.  This is a wood mounted stamp that made its first appearance on my blog in 2012 for a Get Well Soon card.

It's a long time since I've used wood mounted stamps so I first stamped the flowers onto a scrap of paper so I could see how they would fit in the corner.  I then stamped the image in the corner of the card and used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment along the lower edge of the card.  To finish I coloured the image with coloured pencils.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Hobby Art 'Floral Display' and Clearly Besotted 'Fancy Sayings' stamps
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
     Faber Castell Coloured Pencils

I am entering the following challenges:
